    It is definitely all about having the right combination when it comes to having a truck and a travel trailer - they have to be a good fit for each other!

    We live in Oklahoma, but travel down there often. It was fun to see familiar territory. My father worked on a shrimp boat decades ago that was based out of Port Aransas, so my folks enjoy spending time there. I love that these offroad Aussie style campers are making their way here. This one is a little heavy for me as I don't want to invest in a larger truck, but the smaller ones are great. I appreciate the information and the effort that you put into this content. Thanks for doing it.

    We went from an F150 supercab to an F250 diesel supercab(both short boxes) to pull our 7,000 gvwr Lance with an Anderson hitch. The general stability improved significantly, but the steering gearbox on the F250 is considerably less precise than the rack and pinion on the F150. If I take my eye off the road for a second to adjust the radio, the truck starts to drift off the road. I'm assuming this would be less of a problem if the truck was a longer wheelbase(either a 4 door or an 8 foot bed). Driving across the Texas panhandle with 30 MPH winds was still an unpleasant experience experience in the F250.

    I live in my caravan full time. It's 3 metric tonnes and I tow it with a 79 series Toyota Landcruiser.
    I'd like a Silverado, but they have to be converted to right hand drive which doubles the asking price for them in New Zealand.
    I agree with you on the tow vehicle verses trailer weight.

    So agree with you!! I would rather have less space for something that is going to last and take me anywhere! What good is all the space if you always have issues? Definitely not for a family but a couple would be perfect. 😊

    I felt much more comfortable watching you tow the Pause with the F450 than I did with the other truck. One thing I've learned from watching RV videos over the past 5-10 years is you want a tow vehicle that will the "the boss" of whatever you are towing, NOT the other way around. I do not own an RV or tow vehicle (yet), but given that my plans for buying an RV are so far focused on a mega-fifth wheel toy hauler, which I originally thought an F450 would be a good fit for, I am now giving serious thought to a HDT, just for safety's sake. I don't want my trailer to be "bossing" my truck around, ever.
    Also, your enthusiastic "rant" at the end of the video makes me wish Palomino manufactured really big toy-hauler fifth wheels, hahahaha. Been following your channel for years and I take your reviews seriously. When I finally buy my RV, it's likely to be the last home I will live in, so I really, really want it to be as "robust" (to borrow one of your fav terms) as possible.

    This has been an interesting series. It seems to me they’ve made a “go anywhere” camper that need to be pulled with a “can’t go everywhere” vehicle. That said, quality trumps all.

    I use my 2017 Ram Longhorn Laramie Diesel Dually to pull all my trailers. From my 10' utility trailer , 20' trailer for my tractor or the DRV 5th Wheel. I would rather have a little overkill . Beats finding out on the road you need more truck.

    can you suggest a video that explains everything you'd need to do for full time 5th wheel living? Like different ways to power your fridge, what to do when you have food in the fridge/freezer but you're driving. Can a generator power everything in a 5th wheel? How noisy is it?

    Those pop up trailers are not the most stable to tow. I’ve owned one. The truck that would typically tow the trailer would be a 3/4 ton with an off road package. The suspension on the Pause looks well dampened with the shocks which should make the trailer behave well on the road. It would be nice if that suspension tech would trickle down to to a lesser extent to non off road travel trailers. I could definitely live full time in that trailer.

    I get the fact that"if they build it SOMEBODY will buy it". And if you have the money and that's what you want, then by all means, go for it. But what I don't understand is why build the most extreme off road camper available, when the truck needed to tow it, CAN'T even go where the trailer was intended to go

    Still has a horrible floorplan … poor internal storage … great for a weekend for 140k plus … the money doesn’t bother me. Nice innovation but somewhat poorly executed. I think they missed the mark on the easiest part… the floorplan. The x195 blows it away with regards to internal space..except for their toilet choice… everything is a trade off and yes I know they have other floorplans that are being worked on. Yes the quality is good … exceptional. They spent 3 years of researching this floorplan and they claim they looked at a lot of Australian trailers like bruder, lotus and royal and this floorplan looks nothing like what they have. No pantry no silverware drawer, no table no fix bed no 12v ac. Not for full timing. It will be interesting to see how many units they sell this year. But if you’re looking for a4 season trailer with innovative features like they x195 and the pause never mind their off road capabilities your out of luck. No one is building a 4 season trailer like these period. At least not in the USA. Shame

    • @bmerky
      @bmerky Рік тому

      Hopefully they keep innovating and the new floor plans will work for more people, and it seems they are really close to being 4 seasons capable. maybe not 40 below 0 like the Xplores, but still capable.

    Well that settles any argument! lol The 450 really kept that trailers attitude in order nice job! Like you said 2500,250 should give similar towing. I'm wondering how rough that 450 rides when not in tow? My 2500 rides a lot stiffer than my 1500 did but we know why that is, just wondering how much stiffer ride is that 450, I've driven one in a box truck configuration and don't think it's ideal ride for personal use..
