Stone Glacier's Andrew Whitney (@andrew_whitney) takes us through his backpack and what he carries for a 5 day archery elk hunt. SHOP R3 5900: www.stoneglaci...
I like the idea of the inside bag having some of the bow stuff. I'll have to move my tags to my bino harness and put my bow stuff in there inside a small grab bag. Thanks for the insight
The guys here at the shop use a wide variety of tripods and heads. It's really a personal preference on the tripod and head. As far as a bino adapter, the Outdoorsman and Really Right Stuff adapters seem to be some of the best we've ran.
@@andrewwhitney4565 Correct me if I am wrong but your link says that this is the R3 3300 but the 5900 looks like the only one that has the outer center zip pocket. I also don't see any molle on this one in the video like I do on the R3 3300. Thanks in advance.
I see alot of people carrying out the whole hind quarter bone and all and I was just wondering why they carry all that extra weight those bones got to be heavy
Meat quality for one. Meat that goes through the rigor process while attached to the bone will not be all shrunk up and tight like a piece that you cut off the bone and it rigors on its own. Attached to the bone it comes out of rigor and relaxes back into stretched tender meat...off the bone it will stay tight and will be noticeably more tough. Second is weight distribution and load carriage. Whole quarters are a much more stable load....a sack of de-boned meat needs a lot more compression and support so it doesn't just slump down and ball up at the bottom of your pack (which sucks to carry on your back).
@@jasonphillips1342 miles said it all and Elk 101 says rear leg bone is 8 q 10 pounds front 6-8 pounds I’ve never weighed them i just suck it up and hump it out rear quarters with bone about 65-70 pounds front 36-39pounds 👊🏻
This is great, Andrew-These pack-dump videos have really helped me dial in my own setup. Thanks for all you guys do!

Hey what compression sacks are those you used to keep your extra layers in?
Can we get a video of Andrew ripping that sweet CR in the background?
How much does your pack weigh?
Thank you!, you helped me a lot!!!
you run the R3 5900 on krux frame but according to SG site the R3 only correspond with the r3 bags? when did this change and do you still do this?
All bags always have worked with all frames.
@@stoneglacier9636 Right on. Thanks for the clarification
Where can i find the auto lock buckles? I could not find them on the site
www.stoneglacier.com/collections/buckle-strap-kits
Can see that the SG crew all use tripods for binoculars. Any brands or specific models that you can recommend?

Is this everything you will pack for a 5 day hunt? Where did you store the rest of your food?
I don't believe he had all of his food packed at this point. It would all go in the main bag with the rest of his food.
No extra socks or clothes?
When y’all make the biggest pack in that brown color I will buy one love that color not the grey
Never lol I don’t see why they don’t just sell them all in both colors and make their own camo. They would get a lot more customers
How did you have your bow attached?
Just by using the two face compression straps to go around the bow riser.
I went to the site, I did not see the auto locker buckles? Where do you get them?
My straps comes loose all the time

Batteries?
Curious what reasons, specifically, do you prefer that version of the bag over the sky 5900?
I believe he simply preferred the coyote color.
Going to Colorado this year, hoping to kill another bull on camera. Thanks for your video! It helped.
