I’m lucky I have a dog , I walk her in the mornings and evenings, nearly every other hound walker says hello and a couple stop and we have a chat. This small goodwill makes my day . All the best .😊
I actually enjoy being on my own, away from people that is. I have my garden and my cats there is so much beauty around me, trees, flowers, songbirds. Sunsets the night sky it's all overwhelming at times. Cheers people
Single,52 year old guy...amazing how it creeps up on you. But when I lost my mother last year I felt lonelier than I thought even existed. Probably as I don't have a family of my own. After 3.5 years of caring fulltime for my mother now 1 year looking for work. Poverty and loneliness are quite a combination !
They Indeed grief is overwhelming and a can takes many years to ease.i live alone through choice I'm in my 50s you have to put things in your Life to fill your day it's hard but you have to keep trying.and no I don't have much money myself. I got a dog 12 years ago best thing I every did he passed away just over a year ago the pain was overwhelming. I got another dog and am slowly moving on I miss him dearly but you have to keep going on and put that pain in a place in your head if you don't you will never move on I had to do the same when my mother passed. Hope you are doing well all the best Andy.
I am single 52 guy as well. I ended contact with parents and sibling. I think I chose this. Read Steppenwolf by Hesse. Life is an adventure. Get exploring....you never know what is around the corner.
I’m finding this so moving. I worked in a foodbank for many years and encountered many very lonely people. I tried to spend time with them along side handing out food. I hoped I helped in some small way. The loneliness touched me profoundly.
What the woman at 10:00 onwards said about the hurt of rejection with divorce is extremely true. Only partly related to loneliness. My ex (of 20+ years marriage) lives just over 1/2 miles away now, with her "Mr Right" of some 11 years now, and I have total calm acceptance etc but occasionally the feelings this lady described will resurface. Re: loneliness, what no-one wants to be perceived as, is "needy" & it's something most shunned by others. So millions will live out the rest of their existence in "quiet desperation" as the song has it, to a lesser or greater extent. But as we age, we hanker after the contact & company of others on our own terms (set in our ways), often not matching those of others.
I feel everything these people have described, 12 years ago I lost my beloved partner to anorexia and in the last six months of her life I personally nursed her until the end and I lost six stone in weight through all of the stress and worrying and I have PTSD from all of the mental trauma,im 54 now and still single and I have tried to find love again but the world is such a different place and I suffer from bouts of extreme loneliness and it's soul destroying. it's the 21st century now and the issue of loneliness has increased vastly, the people don't communicate in the way we used to and people aren't concerned about others because they are too involved to bother to stop and take a look around or just Pop in to see how your neighbours and relatives are doing.
This is true and so sad , I hope there is a solution to loneliness these days . I don't really like people n prefer nature n animals but I have mayb at most 5 people who are important to me and my dog . All that matters r health n love , people think so much of money n ego x ❤😢
What an amazing charity and man that set it up. I feel he is indeed right how loneliness would continue in to the next century. Despite how connected we seem with technology, people are lonelier than ever.
A beautiful, simple and sincere piece. The woman mourning her husband was so touching - he was clearly such a good man. And the blind man was remarkable, so resilient.
No one can better understand this than I do! I am mostly unemployed, sick with diabetes and high blood pressure, and have no children from my marriage, so it becomes difficult to stay happy! Perhaps, that sense of fulfilment and containment is finished inside as you grow old. I believe loneliness turns gradually into a mental disease which can have negative physiological ramifications.
There is always a story behind loneliness. Decisions made in life, is a major factor. Every situation is different. If you have God, you can NEVER be lonely.
Its a bit glib to say ". If you have God, you can NEVER be lonely" - my mum was a regular church goer all her life, she went into care when she was 80. I visited her almost every 2 days for the next 17 years, but she would often get really upset when it was time for me to leave. I've just been reading Corry Ten Boom's book "The hiding place". She spent a considerable time in solitary confinement - she was a strong evangelical Christian, but she got so much comfort when an ant came to visit her from a hole in the cell floor!
@kingofdubb2133 That ant might of been a loved one come to see her. God only knows. Going to church doesn't mean much. God is within us. Quick question. Why did your Mom go into a home?
@@DeanWood-j1h She had been in hospital for a couple of months, and the doctors and hospital staff suggested, and persuaded her to be transferred to a care home for a trial period. After the trial period she was given the option to stay longer. I offered to look after her at home, but she insisted that I had my own life to live - I was 37. She was widowed shortly before I was born, and she never remarried. When she went to church, she didn't need a hymn book, as she knew all the hymns by heart. We used to sing hymns together in the care home..
If possible it is better to try and find places to meet people, especially a class in something u would like to do with group participation , u might meet 1 or more people u like❤
I'm a 40 year old woman and I don't have one single friend or a family member left. I have come to accept it.
That sounds tough. We humans are social animals. Having said that, I love it when I'm alone with nobody to bother me. That's precious time.
You'll grow to love it - maybe.
Don't give up,try and find places, to go to meet people, I did and found a good friend! I also have 2 rescued dogs 🐕 ❤
Where are you in the world?

The lovely lady at7.52 won’t be lonely forever. She is fortunate that she never wasted her whole life on that man.
