I get claustrophobic when you crawl through the doorways.

I tend to make impulse purchases, especially when I get ideas for projects, and start picking up recycled materials online, at thrift stores until things start tracking up.
Watching these hoarder videos has really provided impetus for me to learn to be more discerning with my purchases, being able to part with possessions, crafting items I haven't worn or made use of.
I've learned to understand I need to continue to monitor myself for an ongoing tendency to impulse buy, because I'm quite capable of overriding my self control filters.

12:31 At least there is some flourishing nature in the hoarders garden in contrast to the stone desert next door

Until Paul, I never felt compassion for a hoarder. God bless you, Paul. I wish you peace and to find happiness.

Simon….I would have Paul get serious counseling BEFORE allowing him to move in. He seems a very nice person but hoarding is a long process to correct. It is not about the stuff that is important, but…why he is hoarding. I lift Paul in prayer as he seems to have a lot of childhood traumas that may be linked to why he hoards.

I feel for people like this ….most of the time it’s something horrible in their lives had happened to them which causes them to do this. My mother was like this as well but not as bad as Paul. With both my mother and brother living in the same home / apartment they both went mad and started the process cause of the loss of a family member…..my mother lost her father at 17 due to a heart aneurysm then years later my father died as well. With my brother it was the loss of our father. I endured undo pain as well but don’t have said problem thankfully. I watch these type of videos for therapy to remind myself of what not to be and it absolutely drives me crazy how bad it can really be….and do have a very clean and orderly home ❤❤❤❤❤

That garden hoe idea is genius. I did was extra work in November by cleaning a hoarded house, and I spent hours bent over scraping off dog poo from the floor. A hoe would have saved so much time.

This guy has been on before, years ago and he had his house cleared and sold it, but he started the hoarding process again, but not his house, in somebody else's. Paul began to fill Simon's house with stuff and Simon being very tolerant tried to intervene but the stuff kept coming. That to me is taking advantage.

Sorry to say but you will have to let Paul find another place to live. Unless you have changed your mind and want to live in tons of clutter. Are you strong enough to say no?

This doesn’t happen overnight, does it? So those poor souls have nobody telling (helping) them earlier. I mean if my mother lived like this… I’d be there and got her some help (mentally by specialists) and physically by just cleaning out.

I never understand hoarders ! I think they are self centre , selfish All world lost family members survive wars like myself! Did not have electricity water and my linen and clothes, kids were clean ! Life goes on and they just think about their filings , ! Simply they don’t care for others!
Sorry but no excuses to be like this !

    • @Telekom1

A doctor for therapy cost a lot of money and the tratament will take maybe years: it is a mental desorder. And they don't want to touch and descarded their stuff, and it is a very slow process and mentally difficult for the family- so most of them step back...

My mom had everything… every laser pointer she ever confiscated from us kids. We had moved from Hawaii to mi, then her to Washington. can you imagine the stress every time we moved… this last time moving her home w me after her husband died we weren’t moving everything. Just the important stuff. Everything is important to a hoarder. It was sad honestly, I know she wasn’t ready to let go, but she didn’t have the power to stop it. Now we’re trying to keep her from acquiring.

It would seem that way, but I had a relative who wasn't and extreme hoarder, but she did have catalogs stacked up on the floor, broken things that she would never be able to use, cupboards stacked to the brim, etc. But she did give donations of to charities at Christmas time, and before she got too old, she was involved with feeding the homeless.
