Joey hasn't been missing traps day, has he. People complain "Joey rushes", "Joey this, joey that". Well, this band has muscians and personalities, Joey is the animal rocking maniac and I love it. Dean is a mad professor in his lab, Troy is a goth leaning rebel, Mikey is straight badass, and Josh is ginger Elvis.
exactly what i was looking for. joey is a beast, a true character. i was skeptic after dave grohl and joey is different, but i learned to love this energy. great qotsa era. i saw them 2007 in berlin, damn that was good…
Nothing Man IMO... 1 of their very best, actually it’s probably my overall favorite LP of theirs just over either/both Rated R & SFTD! Absolutely just friggin’ love that album! Not only that but I personally think that a lot of their best concerts/shows took place during the EV tour of 2007-08! No doubt whatsoever that some of their very best setlists ever took place during the EV tour. Just one great show after another thruout that tour!
Yes. But i find that i really only like half of the songs on the older records. Even thought it was more Stoner Rock. On the newer records nearly everything is good but it is almost pop rock. Well, who cares as long as it is fun.
Battery Acid switching between cowbell and open hi-hat with a ride bell around 4th time is tricky as hell as well. Joey Castillo is heavily underrated.
This is mixed just as well as Belfort 2005. Great show. I went to two in the US during the EV era and it was LITTTTTTTT. Also wanted to say that Battery Acid is underrated AF!!!
no;( but im sure he will play 1 or 2 songs for the new album ,too. it would be great if he come back---i love his drum play so much. im a bass guitar player.... this would be an amazing drummer for me;) hey, troy said they want to make a record in the old way! podcast interview troy van leeuwen queens of the stone age new album -google it
That's amazing news, didn't know that. It would be sooo great if he'd come back Nothing against Theodore but ... it's not the same not that "rumbly" miss Joey a lot it was so nice
iCreats telling ya, it’s what I keep saying w/the EV tour. So many more shows thruout that tour that I consider their very best vs any other tour thruout QOTSA’s history.
" it sounds like a pillow Matt....this song is about being trapped in a pillow and you can't get out" LOL does Matt still have a job?? I loved this set, it's all red bull and skittles!
If you are not a Guitar/Bass player, you should know that at 21:05 starts one of the Most Difficult riffs ever made. You have to Slide Up and Down the frets on the respective A and E strings in perfect unison with each other WHILE Singing!! P. S. QOTSA IS GOD TIER MUSIC
Misfit love, I think I lost my Headache. Absolutely fucking mental!!! I wish they would replay this setlist today. Going to see them for the 2nd time in Melbourne in Feb. Can’t fucking wait!!!!
The great thing about QOTSA is that every "era" is debated as the best. They were all different. I've heard tons of people claim it was the songs for the deaf era, or rated R... I agree with +WhiteWater however 07-08 was something special. Luckily I saw them 3 times during that period. No band since then has touched their performances.
Yeah I’m definitely one of those QOTSA fans that feel w/out a doubt that the ‘Era’ tour was/is the by far best bunch of shows to jam/listen to! Honestly didn’t get into em until a yr after Rated R came out. Was on my way taking a road trip up to a GVSB concert in Cleveland, OH in 2001and a buddy of mine popped in the CD player ‘Rated R’. Gotta say the moment ‘Feel Good Hit...’ kicked into motion, I was immediately hooked all the way thru the entire CD and never looked back. They have for sure become my favorite group going today. Love just about everything they’ve brought out (...just about). Can say that if there’s a least favorite release of theirs it’d be Lullabies... Only cos of largest amt of trks I don’t care for, that being 4. Other than that, every other release might have maybe one trk here/there I don’t care for. Favorite would have to be Era Vulgaris. Absolutely love that LP. Even though there’s two trks I don’t care for on that one. River in the Road and Run Pig Run. Man, those are two trks I literally can’t stand! Other than that, it’s a great friggin’ LP! The tour of that release is by far the very best collection of shows in their history! I have now 135 shows of theirs on CD, DVD, VCD etc. and the Era tour is definitely my favorite of the collection!
I wish you could come to my beautiful city of Yerevan/Armenia one day, it's really almost paradise-like here, you'd love it. It's so nice here you'll shit your pantalones haha just kidding it's horrible in here, that's why we can't have nice things like QOTSA playing live, all we get is a half-assed SOAD concert that kept us waiting for 3 hours before they began, but hey at least it was free. Please... come?
Joey is, and always has been, my favorite Queens drummer. There is something about his approach to the material that just makes the songs come alive. He has a sharp attack, and energy, but also gives space for all the other incredible musical elements that this world class band delivers. Theodore bores me and he somehow drags the songs down. Just doesn’t seem to add anything special.. and Dave is… well… amazing, but he also kind of steps on everything in his own special way. I know it’s a punishable crime to ever say anything bad about Mr. Grohl… He’s the greatest drummer to ever live… etc. I guess I just prefer Mr. Castillo.
Man I just can’t get over certain ones on here such as fellow UA-camr ‘aaroniousone’ who earlier posted a certain comment for this video. Always seem to come across ones like him on here who state negative crap towards drummer Joey Castillo. Either how he plays way too fast, many times off-key and/or how much better QOTSA sounds bcos of Castillo’s ‘absence’... being replaced with Jon Theodore who’s obviously (?!) just ‘SO much better’ of a drummer etc etc blah blah blah!! It just kills me every time I come upon this crap. For one, JC decided to step away on his own due to him wanting to take a much needed break from the (almost) nonstop pace the band was enduring thruout those last few or so yrs straight while he was still with them. Nothing but constant touring & when not doing so, instead was being in the studio creating/recording new material for the next LP. Once done w/that meant touring would immediately start right back up again in what was to become the massive ‘...Like Clockwork’ tour. Knowing this was to happen is when JC made the decision to step away. Not JH firing him or anything else considered to be on bad terms. As far as the whole thing goes w/different ones who get on here to watch these older QOTSA shows & constantly complain about how JC is always playing way too fast on this, that or hell, every song thruout the setlist. I mean, any1 who actually really knows their s**t when it comes to this band knows how much of a perfectionist (or well, just about anyway..) JH can be when it comes to how the band sounds when playing live to a crowd. I mean, if it happened once or twice w/JC’s speed being too fast during whichever show, that’s 1 thing. But to be doing it over n over again constantly thruout from 1 show to the next?! I’d be willing to almost bet any amount of $ that he was playing exactly the way that Homme wanted him to. Josh has had the reputation of being 1 very talented phenomenal musician thruout the rock music world for 20+ something yrs now & knows exactly what he wants in making his music sound as good as it does while bringing it to the masses of QOTSA fans night after night etc. Gotta remember, Castillo has been the man on the sticks since taking over the spot going all the way back to the middle of the SFTD tour where one Dave Grohl had sat at up to that moment. I mean, if Homme hadn’t been happy w/the way Castillo continuously played, don’t cha think that he’d been replaced somewhere during the long timeframe from when he took over in middle of SFTD tour to the recording & touring of Lullabies to Paralyze LP to then also the recording & touring of the Era Vulgaris LP to then touring once again. This time in support of the anniversary re-released ‘self-titled’ LP that was the band’s debut back in 1998. So bottom line... someone’s going to tell me that “yeah, Castillo was a drummer that just played way too fast of a tempo vs the rest of the band during any/all songs they performed”. To which happened thruout each live show that was played over a stretch of how long... just around what, maybe 8 to 9 yrs or so? In all that time, JC just continued to do that & J Homme just had to tolerate it until he’s able to find someone else.... which again, takes at least 8 friggin’ yrs to do that?! I mean, c’mon people! Think about all that for chrissakes! So for ones out there who still think that Castillo just played fast & consistently failed in being able to drum at the correct pace... try going back & reading all this again. Then ask yourself which friggin’ scenario here actually makes sense!🤷🏻♂️🙄🤘🏻🖤🤘🏻
On a lot of songs, his intensity and raw sound and whatnot feeds a lot of QOTSA's catalog. Some songs that sound different live make me appreciate the band a little more seeing how they aren't playing and miming along every show and every performance, he is my favorite drummer with Dave Grohl being my second favorite. When it comes to Jon Theodore though, to be honest, I think he sounds best with Like Clockwork and the Villans material, when he plays stuff like Song For The Dead or something pre-Like Clockwork, I just don't feel it like how I do with JC and DG. But I am definitely not saying Jon is a bad drummer by any means.
Cool story bro 😎 Also. Joey is the reason I can’t watch a full concert he drums on, without forwarding/skipping some section as his playing is terrible.
aaroniousone yea. on the albums he's really solid but I don't mind him speeding things up a bit. the adrenaline and we all know his drums are powerful as fuck

Joey was the most ideafull drummer of qotsa...
you're right.
'a drummer'
This was one of many amazing hair days for Josh.
Era Vulgaris was a crazy album!
Nothing Man.
Totally agree, mad guitar solos, a freaky deaky masterpiece
Nothing Man IMO... 1 of their very best, actually it’s probably my overall favorite LP of theirs just over either/both Rated R & SFTD! Absolutely just friggin’ love that album! Not only that but I personally think that a lot of their best concerts/shows took place during the EV tour of 2007-08! No doubt whatsoever that some of their very best setlists ever took place during the EV tour. Just one great show after another thruout that tour!
Best album after SFTD
Underrated record
Great album, their 4th best after their first 3 in order of release.
Between 2002 and 2007, this band was something else, regardless of the line-up
Yes. But i find that i really only like half of the songs on the older records. Even thought it was more Stoner Rock. On the newer records nearly everything is good but it is almost pop rock. Well, who cares as long as it is fun.
Misfit Love...Jesus Christ. Can't put into words this song.
Such a jam. Live versions of it were my go-to back when I used to smoke weed and wanted my mind blown.
i dont think enough people appreciate how difficult misfit love is on drums if you play it like Joey
I see what you mean. He switches to hitting the hats with his left hand and uses his right hand for toms and snare. That is unusual. Good eye.
Battery Acid switching between cowbell and open hi-hat with a ride bell around 4th time is tricky as hell as well. Joey Castillo is heavily underrated.
That right there is another whole reason why I’d prefer Castillo on the sticks over Theodore.
I love the way he plays in "Turnin on the screw" amazing era!
It looks tricky, but doable...🤔👍
misfit love stole the show. can't wait to see them at the Forum in February.
By all that is holy, that performance of Misfit Love was good
This is mixed just as well as Belfort 2005. Great show. I went to two in the US during the EV era and it was LITTTTTTTT. Also wanted to say that Battery Acid is underrated AF!!!
you can actually hear Troy singing here!
check out the 2005 show from France, you can hear him very well along with Natasha!
you mean the show in belfort?
Richard Ouborg There's a couple shows on here from 05 where you can hear him actually, and Belfort is one yes.
Mexicola....sweet Jesus. Absolutely crushing. That freaking bass!
Josh Homme / Joey Castillo / Troy Van Leeuwen / Dean Fertita / Michael Shuman-total best team!
in my opinion, too. nice to hear that they are goin with the same line up in studio this year. im really excited
Joey is back? :)
no;( but im sure he will play 1 or 2 songs for the new album ,too. it would be great if he come back---i love his drum play so much. im a bass guitar player.... this would be an amazing drummer for me;) hey, troy said they want to make a record in the old way! podcast interview troy van leeuwen queens of the stone age new album -google it
That's amazing news, didn't know that. It would be sooo great if he'd come back
Nothing against Theodore but ... it's not the same
not that "rumbly"
miss Joey a lot
it was so nice
Ah, you're forgetting Natasha. 2005 was their best.
Listen to Josh’s guitar on how to handle a rope. Holy hell
Best QOTSA concert ever, with Hove and Werchter 2007
iCreats telling ya, it’s what I keep saying w/the EV tour. So many more shows thruout that tour that I consider their very best vs any other tour thruout QOTSA’s history.
Belfort and Montreux 2005 are pretty good too
" it sounds like a pillow Matt....this song is about being trapped in a pillow and you can't get out" LOL does Matt still have a job?? I loved this set, it's all red bull and skittles!

Any QOTSA lineup w/Joey kicks ass!
They have come a long way. Since 99
Misfit love, I think I lost my Headache. Absolutely fucking mental!!! I wish they would replay this setlist today. Going to see them for the 2nd time in Melbourne in Feb. Can’t fucking wait!!!!
Ridiculously amazing!
This is one of my favorite shows ever, i wish i could've been there
Battery Acid is fucking crazy. This whole album is. Which makes it my favorite one
Joey is the show!
👌👌👌
Legendary gig.
Hook the self titled album into my veins…
Elite band !!!
2007 was the Best period for queens ever.
Uhm
period.
2005 was even better imo
I was team Nick for so long and didn't appreciate lullabies when I was in high school, now I'm discovering so much amazing content!

MISFIT LOVE 😍and I THINK I LOST MY HEADACHE 🤩and then MEXICOLA 🥰
What an incredible show 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
At the end of "ASFTD", Josh throws his guitar into Joey's drum set, dismantling the set in the process.
This is spectacular and sexy from start to finish
what a tracklist! That little sister solo is still awesome
What a rock band
haha the stage hand at the end trying to save stuff
They never play How to handle a rope omg
Castillo is a monster. Not the best at keeping perfect time, but jesus, that guy hits the skins like a sumbitch….!!!
He's like an angry beast giving chase. I love it.
I love Josh and QotSA but 'Bacon is home again' @ 59:20!
well im never going to unhear that
What a shout 😂

@ 34:16 or so it looks like Lou Ferrigno (aka The Hulk from television) is murdering the drums
For when ya wanna rock it on down HARD. Battery Acid, yeah! Wish I would’a been there! ☠️
Shame that Mikey doesn't scream anymore (save for the one or two on Feel Good)
He scream in Domesticated Animals
the BEST
Good video the best band are they still going does anyone know if they are still around their the best
*highlight* 39:49
The robots were in full effect on this night!! Hot damn!!!
Better than any drug Youve ever done
The sound and message from...
Thx mate!!
Tim Heidegger should do a Josh Homme impression
Fucking WOW!!!!
Josh's guitar needs more volume here...not sure the board tech got it right
I think that's who he kept calling to, Matt, because he was low in the mix.
The video mixing doesn't have anything to do with what comes out of the P.A.
To be honest, Troy is too high in the mix if anything.
huh huh , huh hun
what a fucking setlist
the first three songs get it started proper
That poor tech at the end supposed to back Josh up and, in disbelief, looking at a $3000 guitar being thrown away in cymbals

Only way this coulda rocked harder was with ‘you think I ain’t worth a dollar…’
How great would it be to be the extra guy on keys and backup guitar? Don't gotta write or do anything but kick it with Josh and chime in now and then.
Dean does great work, especially outside of Queens, like in the Dead Weathers.
Dean helped write Like Clockwork and Villains
Joey was their best drummer and I know a ton of ppl will disagree.
alfredo its a nice choice too
Is this show available as an MP3 download somewhere?
I didn't know John frusciante could play bass.
Anyone know what the tattoo says across castillo’s back/shoulders?
I think ‘castellano’, his last name
The writing was at its best when it was Josh, Troy and Joey

Ramsay Bolton on drums.
hahaha fuckin funny shit
Hahaha I thought that I am The only one who thinks that they Look exactly the Same xD glad to find someone who thinks like me too
Belfort 2005 seems better for me. Who else think the same?
IM A WOMAN, WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE INTIMATE? HUH.
Once again, there goes Joey... playing everything way too fast.
aaroniousone yea. on the albums he's really solid but I don't mind him speeding things up a bit. the adrenaline and we all know his drums are powerful as fuck
he was in a hurry to finish up the gig. guess he doesn't have to hurry anymore now
aaroniousone sounds sweet to me!
@@jimihendrixx11 me too.
His technique reminds me of philthy animal taylor, if lemmy was around he would love to have joey as a drummer for motorhead. Fast IS good.
Drummer has no drive. Get Dave back
Natashia Otero Joey = groove, power, big beats. Just a different style.
Stunned silence

Yeah Dave was amazing in songs for the deaf
Seen them in glasgow on this tour back then. It was an insane performance. Even being high as a kite at it 😂
