      Frank would get depressed 😂. Guthrie is absolutely terrifying up close…. I have been familiar with his work since the 90’s. I have seen many guitar prodigies with insane amounts of talent but nobody comes even close to Guthrie.. Technically he is the most gifted guitar guitarist ever.

    That descending sweep lick is a monster. I've seen frank play it longer and cleaner, but I don't know what video it is, or song. I've been through frank gambale's tutorials.
    Also guys who cover frank gambale licks. NOBODY, Nobody plays this lick from frank gambale.

    Guthry and Frank are living legends but when it comes to sweeping Frank is the man acording to Guthry himself.
    But the new kid on the block is
    Matteo Moncuso.
    He is deffinetly a better acustic player than Frank and Guthry but his skills on electric is right up there with Frank and Guthry.

      I remember Brian, I was friends with him and chatted occasionally on Google Plus . He said he really liked my '52 reissue Tele but was happy playing Schecter. It was a long time after that I discovered he was Synyster Gates from Avenged Sevenfold! Really nice guy and although I don't care for their music, I won't forget how he was always friendly to me .

    Frank was my teacher at GIT. It took me years to relize his sweep picking style comes from Wes Montgomery who did not "alternate pick" due to the fact he used his thumb. Wes could play as fast as he wanted too!! ❤

    You can tell his fretting fingers are so strong and yet nimble enough to get all those fast notes .Also note how close he keeps his fretted fingers to the fretboard..His fingers never raise up high ...something a classical teacher taught me a long time ago and he noted that Brian May also used this technique.

    Part of the trick is relaxing both hands as much as possible and focus less on the notes, sounds and more on syncing the two hands together WITH a metronome or beat. Trust your body and brain, relax your hands and few you way on your right hand or pick hand flowing wherever on the strings and left hand free to match.

      ​@@yellfireThere is a big difference in opinion between people who play guitar and people who just listen to music because they like how it sounds. Most Tim Henson fans are musicians whereas tens of millions of casual listeners will prefer Roger Gilmour, Van Halen, or Slash because of the emotion in their playing rather than raw technical prowess

      (Update: I checked out Tim Henson just after posting this original comment. I've definitely checked him out before, and he's a BEAST! Very unique style, too. I don't understand why some of my fellow Boomers might rag on the guy, as he's an ace guitarist & real funky!)

      ​@@yellfiredepends on the boomer. Some boomers who love raw, straightforward, and bluesy 60s/70s rock tend to slag off the 80s thing with all it's elements (flashy shred guitars, synthesizers, and radio-friendly song patterns they called "cheesy" or "sappy").
