Argentina 1982 was a big disappointment too. World Champions added with the man himself... Diego Maradona. It all ended in Diego's red card against Brazil. Very bad perfomance by that star team.
The most disappointing one has to be Denmark for me. After their run to the Euro semi final last summer and breezing their way through qualifying, I thought they would go fat in this tournament as dark horses. Safe to say they were nowhere near it

Uruguay getting grouped is also an embarrassment especially since they're the first county to win the competition
But they´re also the last to win it. Baaaack in the days in 1950. So their glory days are long time forgotten. Don´t get me wrong, I´m not shiting at them, but they now aren´t capable of going even to semifinal. They are just a darkhorse like Belgium or Denmark. Can beat somebody in a game, but have no chance to even go to the final.

Morocco 🇲🇦 was the most shocking team ever ,that shows we cannot look at teams like this as underdogs anymore ,and we cannot keep expecting so much from the big teams because most of them lost the track of football for an example Germany they defended every color except their own flag color …..but honestly this is the best WC I’ve witnessed ❤

Lakaka is one of the football players of all time. Everyone was shocked when he Lakaka'd the ball 4 times against Croatia.
He was coming back from an injury and haven't played a game like 3 months before that match. It's not easy for any player to come back from a months old injury and start banging in goals specially when the pressure is that high. He is not the reason for belgium to go out. They played dog sh*t in their past two matches as well. Their own players were saying they are now too old to win the world Cup. They had no motivation whatsoever. Kevin de bruyne was invisible in all three matches.

Better lose at quarter final against good team (Zidane's France and Robben's Netherlands), than make your way to the semis AT HOME against shit teams at penalty shoutouts only to be humiliated in the semis.
But Brazil that year was the worst Brazilian side ever. They only got to the semifinal via a combination of constant cheating and support by preferential refs.
Germany broke my heart. They have a horrible track record for two consecutive world tournaments
They have Spain to blame for that. Spain could have easily equalised against Japan in their last game if they'd wanted, and put out Japan, but late on they knew Germany couldn't catch up to their goal difference, and that Columbia couldn't get through. They blatantly never tried in the last twenty minutes, wrongly supposing coming second would give them an easier route through the tournament. Germany deserved to get out the group stage, unlike the side four years ago, which really was terrible.
They were worried about the wrong ball so...

Zaire in 1974 would have to be one. Anyone who saw their qualifying campaign and African cup of nations know they can play the game very well, yet at the tournament itself they were very poor. Despite a fair performance against Scotland and Brazil, Yugoslavia completely murdered them 9-0, all thanks to corruption in the country not paying the players.
And poor Zaire haven’t been back since.

And FR Yugoslavia was also a strong side around the turn of the millennium, getting out of the group stage at both France 98 and Euro 2000. Slovenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina also inherited some fine players too, as both teams have qualified for major tournaments too (Slovenia even qualified twice)

To be honest, the biggest disappointments in World Cup is not only involving a title holders (known as champions curse), which France ended it this year and are on their way to the second World Cup Final in a row since Brazil did this on 1998 (when they, ironically, lost to France as a host). I will give you a notable examples:
1.Czech Republic in 2006: They qualified to the World Cup for the first (and only time) after being divorced with Slovakia. They still had good talents like Nedved, Smicer, Koller, Cech, Rosicky, and Poborsky. However, they finished third after losing to fellow debutant Ghana and eventual winner Italy, with the expectation of topping the group easily (given that Italy was plagued by the football scandal that year).
2.Portugal in 2014: Before winning Euro two years before, Portugal with Cristiano Ronaldo endured their worst campaign. They failed to beat Ghana by a huge scoreline and Germany only won narrowly to USMNT, resulting in an elimination for CR7 team by goals scored.
3.China and Saudi Arabia both in 2002: To date, those Asian teams still remained as the worst World Cup team ever with this year's host Qatar. During that campaign, China and Saudi Arabia always lose their games and conceded heavily (9 and 12 goals, respectively) and didn't even scored at least one goal. Saudi Arabia had even lost 0-8 to eventual finalist Germany in the opening game.
4.North Korea in 2010: North Korea wanted to replicate their 1966 run in South Africa. They are placed in Group of Death. After an acceptable loss to Brazil by only one goal margin, the Koreans were demolished with 10 goals to nil (7 for Portugal and 3 for Ivory Coast).
5.Egypt in 2018: Egypt returned back to World Cup just 28 years after the last appearance. They are, however, hit by Mohamed Salah's infamous injury in the UCL Final with Liverpool. Despite the injury was not worse and declared fit, Egypt lose all games with Salah only net the ball twice.
6.I'm also pointing out that the early exit for Belgium, Denmark, and Wales in this World Cup is because they were infected by the same anti-LGBT sentiment as Germany.
