My Beatles Live book was signed by Mark, Tim Rice & Iain Lee who were at Hornsey Road at Wycombe in 2019.

Lewisohn said the name of volume one had nothing to do with Timothy Leary's saying "Tune in, turn on, drop out".

@@michaelharrington75 My guess, from reading the publisher's material, is that it will be called 'Fab' and it will be released in 2025. Nobody has announced that, so it might be completely wrong, but it's there tucked away on their website and it sounds quite likely to me.

Mark Lewisohn is a conman in my opinion. He has been pussyfussing for years concerning the release of Volume 2, finding all sorts of feeble excuses (the lack of funds being one). He also claims to be scholalastic (which he most certainly is not). I read his Volume 1. Yes, his work abounds with a plethora of obscure and irrelevant details (the result of painstaking research, granted) but it is far from critical and analytical in the true tradition of scholarly discourse. He is essentially an archaelogist digging, unearthing and presenting.
His work is, in the final analysis, a lumping together of many personal and intimate minutiae (often vulgar and offensive) without interrogating these details to present a synthesis and objective assessment as the scholarly historian ought to. How far should the historian go in respecting the privacy of his subjects? I doubt whether the Beatles - Lennon in particular - would be very impressed. McCartney has also expressed reservations about Lewisohn's work.
I shall give Volume 2 (if it ever sees the light of day) a categorical miss. I shall spend the time, instead, listening to the music of my beloved band.

If you're going to criticize someone else's scholarship you should use words of which you know the meaning ('without interrogating'- I presume you meant integrating) Lewisohn's book is a biography, telling the story of the greatest band in history. If you want an analysis of their work or their place in 20th century culture, there are other books which provide that.

      1. Don't embarrass yourself. It is painfully obvious that you do not understand the full import of the term, "interrogating" (as it is used scholarship and academia). For your edification, I am NOT Mr Malaprop:
interrogate verb [T] (ASK ABOUT TOPIC)

      SOCIAL SCIENCE specialized
"to ask questions about something as a way of analysing it or finding out more about it:
The book interrogates the way numbers are handled and mishandled by politicians and the media.
This all sounds perfectly sensible until we start to interrogate the underlying assumptions."
      (The Cambridge Dictionary)
      2. Lewisohn has claimed, several times, that he is a "scholar". He is not. He labours under the delusion that the scholarly historian's task is to wash his subject's dirty linen (revealing their most intimate and personal details) to the public. There are too many examples to cite. Lewisohn is essentially a sensationalist-historian - the legacy of his journalistic background, probing into dark corners.
      3. I have read several biographies of the Beatles by renowned and distinguished authors who do not pander to cheap sensationalism by repeatedly alluding to trivia such as flatulence, excrement and overt, crude, descriptions of sexuality. While Lewisohn uses his poetic licence (his prerogative) to resort to this stylistic device, his work is neither scholarly nor academic.
      4. I spent a lot of money on Lewisohn's book. This gives me the right to be a critic. I came to his work because of his claim to be a "scholar". I was disappointed. I shall avoid his future work.
      5. I am a respected scholar and academic of over forty years standing. I know what I am talking about.
      6. Finally: 'goh' fly a kite ... or 'jumpa in da' lake.

How is lack of funds a feeble excuse? He needs to feed himself, pay his bills, travel to view archives, etc.

Volume 1 was written by Warren Zane and credited to Lewisohn. He's a fraud who never wrote anything.

Do you mean Warren Zanes, with an s? You absolutely made that up! Zanes himself has never made such a claim. As far as Lewisohn "never wrote anything"..., that another provable false claim. There's proof he's writing these things.
