FANTASTIC interview, one of the best I've heard. Amazing hearing him talk about recording the Viper Skiffle Band......one of multiple records Martin produced that the Quarrymen/Beatles heard/covered.
Terrific upload. What a great life George had. AIR studios are legendary and still thriving. The Winter Consort was renamed the Paul Winter Consort the year after this interview, they were one of the first proponents of World Music. Some of their work is on youtube
I love The White Album. I can’t think of any song that I don’t love on it 💕 From a listeners perspective in real time when it came out. My father played it even years after their release
The Mahavishnu Orchestra record produced by George Martin came out in early 1974. If this interview took place before, this interview could not have taken place in 1979.
I totally agree: the white album was a disappointment to me as well. Of course there were great songs on it like *Blackbird* or *Helter Skelter*, but as an album I thought it was a step backwards after Sgt. Pepper and the production quality was inferior. And John´s attitude of being a down to earth rock´n roller made it better nor was his *Revolution #9* avantgarde. It was just a waste of record space.
There is something special about holding The White vinyl album. George was probably right about it making an excellent single album but the more material from that group the better. Their demos are better than most full productions.

Time spent very well. Thank you.
George was amazing
A huge part of the success of their music

Agreed. He also mentions Stackridge. This must be 1973 ish.

What group was he talking about at 15:44?
I did some searching to try to figure it out, as I also couldn't quite make out what he was saying there. It's Stackridge.

@@codegreenstudioThank you. I couldn’t get it eitherx
Sounds a bit like George, but more like artificial intelligence.
I’m 70 and Ai wasn’t around when I first heard this interview.
crazy that you can get a number 1 song with please please me. its not that good of a song at all.
It is fantastic by the standard of the time. You dont like the basic lyrics? That was all pop songs at the time, just basic love songs.
