I love that one of Goku's routes is dedicated to my favorite interpretation of the power of friendship: beating the shit out of your opps with some extra hands.
I do love the father son final flash what if so much because of Vegeta asking where Trunks got that technique from, Trunks going "I got it from watching you" and Vegeta shutting it down instantly, pulling Trunks up by stating that he learned it on his own. Like, damn. That is actual what if vegeta writing that understands the character. It's rare to happen, but I love it.
@@RebelTrooperHoth "I knew it! Vegeta introduced my meme into the spanish speaking community so that latinos and americans would be too busy fighting to fight back against him so that he could take over Earth! I'LL NEVER FORGIVE HIM!"
@@iguanaboi3921 No no, they join forces and when the heroes come after them and push them in to a corner, they use the potara and fuse in to an evil maybe SS4 or Rosé Vegito. Without the Kais there Goku and Vegeta have to use the fusion dance so we get SSB Gogeta for the final fight.
What I feel should've happened with Freeza's tournament of power what if is put them all together. If you count them all - Freeza, King Cold, Cooler, Zarbon, Dodoria and the Ginyu Force, you will have 10 members. Enough to fill the entire team. Just have this be the what if where the Freeza Family and the Freeza Force run havoc across the tournament of power. Maybe even have them fight for power amongst each other who gets to make the final wish. I mean I'm happy that Cooler is even there, I am a massive Cooler fanboy. And clearly whoever wrote the what if stories is too, because him being the only movie character even in the story mode is kinda insane.

My favorite part of the "Goku kills Cell early" timeline is that Vegeta and Trunks are going to come out of the Time Chamber all beefed up and ready to tussel, only to learn that they wasted an entire year of their lives in a limbo hell dimension for no reason.
Actually, it's a win-win. Vegeta would have wanted to ascend beyond Super Saiyan anyways and now Trunks is strong enough to beat the Androids and Imperfect Cell in his timeline.
I think the Gohan Black was WAY better than the anime and manga versions of the Goku Black arc, in my opinion. Not only this made Gohan a more pragmatic character, actively preparing for the worst at the first chance he got rather than taking Beerus’s word at face value about the erasure of Zamasu like the anime, but not only did he learn the Evil Containment Wave, but actually succeeded in using the technique, which was the key factor to victory and actually saving Trunks’s timeline, saving us from another garbage, meaningless ending! This also doesn’t undermine Trunks’s theme; that together, mortals can overcome difficult odds, even if said obstacles are gods, but Zamasu almost merging with the universe, and needing Grand Zeno(the God of Gods) coming in and erasing everything, including Trunks’s home, just takes a dump on all that and made the entire arc pointless!
However, this What If ignores Gohan's character. I don't know why the fan base want Gohan to be basically a Goku 2.0 when that isn't his personality. It was established since early in Z that what Gohan wants to do is study, he has no reason to be a fighter.
@ He has every reason to fight. He literally states to Piccolo that he has people to protect, AKA his wife, child, father mother, brother, teacher, friends, home, etc. That’s why he trains, to get stronger in order to better protect those he cares about. Just because he wants to train doesn’t make him a Goku 2.0. That’s a heavy misrepresentation of his desire and motivations. This shows he can both a scholar and fighter, heck the what if story literally says that Gohan trains with Piccolo and still manages to do his job. Just because he doesn’t like to fight, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t, people do things they don’t want to do because they have to. There are people who hate doing work but do it anyway because they have to.

That’s a heavy misrepresentation of his desire and motivations."* I was exaggerating, however, my point still stands, you do not want Gohan to be Gohan, you want Gohan to be this powerful clever fighter that trains to protect the planet yet that isn't who Gohan is. *"This shows he can both a scholar and fighter,"* No, he can't. Do you know how much time it takes to be an scholar? Some don't even sleep at night! When would Gohan have the time to train? *"heck the what if story literally says that Gohan trains with Piccolo and still manages to do his job."* Because the writters wern't paying attention to the little details, they just wanted fun What Ifs. *"Just because he doesn’t like to fight, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t, people do things they don’t want to do because they have to. Gohan has alternatives, he can always relay that Goku, Vegeta and their vast array of friends can help save the Universe.
@@toumabyakuya Those people who are scholars who can’t sleep are regular people. Gohan however a half alien hybrid who move very high speeds and get things done if the plot lets him. It’s all about plot. Gohan be literally be both a fighter and a scholar. And don’t assume that I don’t want Gohan to be Gohan, this is Gohan who is actually learning from his mistakes and is actually evolving as a character, instead of making the same mistakes over and over again, repeating a character arc that should already be done with. Also Goku and Vegeta haven’t really gotten the job done in most of the stuff in Super and banking it all on others rather than preparing for the worst where you might have to fight to protect those you care about is not a good character trait. The only time Goku and Vegeta ever really got the job done by the two of them alone is in Super Broly, where as other times either flat out lost or needed the help others, including Gohan to get the job done. And my last point isn’t a bad comparison; you still had to work back then and still need to work now, because it’s necessary. It’s necessary for Gohan prepare for when things inevitably go south for the umpteenth time, because peace is NEVER everlasting in Dragon Ball.
@@maximillianoorosco-randhaw9336 *"Those people who are scholars who can’t sleep are regular people. Gohan however a half alien hybrid who move very high speeds and get things done if the plot lets him."* You don't know what being an scholar entails, do ya? It doesn't matter how fast Gohan is because being an scholar requires hours upon hours of investigation. Physical speeds wont reduce the time that said investigation would take. For example: His insect research he did for Superheroes. He cannot force those Super ants to move faster and to live their lives faster, ergo, he would have to observe them for days, without stopping paying attention to them, so that he can analyze the results and understand how those insects live. All of this takes, at minimum, a couple weeks to do, research taking months is the norm for scholars. *"instead of making the same mistakes over and over again,"* What "mistakes"?! Gohan wanting to follow his dreams and living his life however he wants to do so? That would be a really insulting argument to make. *"Also Goku and Vegeta haven’t really gotten the job done in most of the stuff in Super"* Because those they fought simply couldn't be killed (not even by an hypothetical full power Gohan). Beerus was simply in another level and Zamasu wished for immortality meanwhile Goku Black was equally as strong as Goku was. However, for every other treat both Goku and Vegeta were ready. *"and banking it all on others rather than preparing for the worst where you might have to fight to protect those you care about is not a good character trait."* Thing is that you are forcing Gohan to live his life in a way that he doesn't want to live it. He isn't interested in being Earth's guardian, that could be seen as soon as the end of the Namek saga. You are basically saying "Gohan, throw your own dreams in the trash because they don't matter, you have to defend Earth like it or not". *"The only time Goku and Vegeta ever really got the job done by the two of them alone is in Super Broly,"* And against Zamasu (Goku could have even ended the entire season early had he not wanted to fight, seeing how he still had the Zeno-button). The ToP required Gohan because they were forced to have 10 fighters and they didn't know about Broly. *"It’s necessary for Gohan prepare for when things inevitably go south for the umpteenth time, because peace is NEVER everlasting in Dragon Ball."* No, it isn't. Goku and Vegeta are still there. You are just too closed-minded to understand this.
I absolutely love the concept of Frieza retreating so much there was a complete AU written and made into a audio series where he makes his own squad and basically become bounty hunters, I can’t remember what it’s called but it’s out there for you to search up “what if frieza became a good guy”
I really hope new story characters or additional sparking episode content is part of the future of this game. It'd be such a good way to add new content with new characters or just seeing other characters in the story mode take the reigns. I feel stuff like Early Goku with super saiyan or more prominantly with Gohan Black (and Gohan hair fused Zamasu) show that they're not afraid to create new character versions. Though I'm sure there's a limit on what they can do from people above them.
@@samueljackson5436 yeah, it's a step in the right direction, I would love it if they could do more with it though. Imagine if Gohan Black and the early SSJ forms had their own unique rush attacks and ultimate moves to really sell the differences and make them unique. Totally original animations, like what the Heroes arcade game did after a while.
There's some minor evidence that there's a possibility of added ones in future updates, but so far it looks like more minor stuff like Krillin, Yamcha, and maybe 17 or something.
Android 17 story where you play as Super 17 and beat the shit out of the GT Fighters EDIT: waitwaitwait what if you get the option to resist Hell Fighter 17s influence and join the Z Fighters against the Shadow Dragons
Mr. McFumbles actively praising Jiren's "character," digging deep at length to elaborate on things that are barely if ever actually touched on, and then talking about how little he cares for Gohan - a character who is genuinely heroic, struggle to reconcile a life of protecting with a desire to be peaceful and we see grow up through insane trauma and loss from the age of 4 to inform that characterization - to the point of calling the developers "grown up Gohan fans" for giving him good what-ifs is a wild stance to say the least, but power to him for saying it with his full chest.
its absolutely reasonable that goku's zenkai from nappa would make him on the same level. zenkai boosts work on a "well you gotta catch up to whoever's really strong that moment" logic. That's how the zenkais conveniently have vegeta be strong enough to handle 3rd form frieza but the moment he goes into his final form, vegeta gets washed
Vegeta never fought third form in canon really we don’t know how much the Zenkai boosted him in canon cause Frieza was playing with him…. Heck piccolo still might have been stronger than Vegeta after that Zenkai since Frieza was beyond done by the time Piccolo fights for 5 minutes
Finally. Another Jiren enjoyer. Similar to you, I also grew to like Jiren. Maybe it's because I wanted to go against the grain, maybe it's because that fight in ToP was pretty baller, maybe it's because I watch too much Dotodoya, but regardless, the big gray guy won me over.
Kind of sad in all honesty that Black, like you said, is the worst out, and it's pretty confusing as to why they even bothered with it. Hell, the idea of a time traveler who wants to complete the Zero Mortals Plan or get stronger sounds cool. The fights that could be had is endless! But it just... "What if... I locked in." OR "What if... I locked in... with selfcest?" Honesty, the idea you proposed with Black getting angry and leads to them having an altercation sounds cool but I honestly would change it somewhat slightly. Black would try and kill Zamasu or at least strip him of his time ring and earrings before leaving him stranded in the dead timeline. Black then goes up the pecking order, fighting Jiren to prove himself as the strongest before going up to Beerus and Whis.
I really wish Gohan Black was available as a skin for either Gohan or Goku Black. One of many costumes that're just inexplicably not available to use in the game (BUU SAGA KRILLIN, ORANGE GI TEEN GOHAN, DRIVING OUTFITS FOR GOKU AND PICCOLO)
If it helps he's fully usable as a separate character but can't be accessed through normal means. So the devs could just unlock him for us whenever and that's all they'd need to do.
34:05 Being fair to Vegeta, there are a few things to consider. 1) Without the Zenkai he got from Goku beating his ass like a red-headed step child, his power would still nearly reach 1M in SSJ, well beyond Frieza's 1st Form. 2) This is a Vegeta who does not know that Frieza can transform, since he learns that during his first fight with Zarbon. Without knowing that he can, he has no incentive to let Frieza transform. Also, I hate that the tail doesn't change color with ANY character that has it and goes SSJ (of 2). Not even GT Goku, only in 4 does it change.
Here is a cool what if they could have done for goku black/zamazu that leans off the "them turning against each other" idea, and if the Zamazu who kept his body realizes that he is in the wrong, think about it: that version of Zamazu never got the trigger that pushed him over the edge like Goku black did just a general grudge against them so it makes sense he could he swayed into betraying goku black in over to save his own soul then you can have him lose his kai position and to try to fix what he has done wonder the galaxy trying to be a protector for mortals instead of its destroyer maybe even have him appear in the tournament of power since he isn't a kai anymore
See, the thing is, you could make that work the other way as well: What if being in a mortal's body for so long has given Black his own warped appreciation for mortal life to the point where he no longer wishes to see it wiped out and that's what sparks the turn on Zamazu? You're not necessarily making Black a full-on good guy with that (or at least not right away, given a lot of Dragon Ball bad guys find SOME form of redemption) but he spares what remains/uses the Super Dragon Balls to bring everyone he killed back because he wants to see if other mortals can become strong enough to challenge him in the future. More of a Cell but one able to think long-term instead of "give me good fight now or I blow up everything immediately". And then you can have him show up in the ToP either in the place of Freeza (because his body is from U7) or making Universe 10 more of a genuine threat during the event (because his soul is from there).

Its Bumbles Saturday!! Plus Dragon Ball (and Naruto) have the fun on having a bajillion versions and random characters. I like the what ifs and hope they add more. Also give me General White!
I think that one is Revelation F actually, the one where he got thrown out of his empire and started the DB equivalent of a Star Trek expedition. The one where he survives and stays evil is "what if Frieza was smart" I think
Please, I just want the Pilaf Machine. Why must all Dragonball games refuse to give me the Pilaf Machine. WE GOT DOCTOR WHEELO BEFORE WE GOT THE PILAF MACHINE. Edit 2: I no longer JUST want the Pilaf Machine. I also want a Future Gohan What If? Something like "What if Future Trunks died instead of Future Gohan", and then Gohan's the one that goes back in time, kills Mecha Frieza, warns about the androids, and then has to deal with Goku Black.
Screw it, I want a Beerus story mode and "what ifs." What if he woke up early? What if he became weaker and could actually fight? What if he had to step in? I just think Beerus is cool and would like to see more of him and I hate that he's mostly on the sidelines.
I could see "What if Beerus woke up early" being fun. Depending on when he woke up, we could see a lot of fun moments. Beerus facing down a full power Buuhan or Kid Buu, only for him to win and decide that, if THAT is the greatest challenge this planet can muster, it's boring and needs to be obliterated. As such, when the tournament with Universe 6 comes up, Beerus needs to find 6 new fighters NOT from Earth. The question is, who? We'd probably have to drag in people from the GT era. Like, Baby? Maybe Tarble? (Maybe have a moment between Baby and Tarble where the former possesses the latter and gets to fight twice? Maybe??) We'd definitely get to see a lot of aliens
The one problem with the Frieza What If: it wouldn't work in-universe. Frieza couldn't have revived his forces, as multi-person revives by the dragon balls have a 1 year time limit. He'd have needed to go to namek and spend an Earth year's worth of wishes for them (Namekian years are four months, King Cold, Cooler, Ginyu Force, Zarbon and Dodoria makes 9 people thus 3 rounds of 3 wishes. Actually kinda perfect now I think about it)
...okay, but consider that Beerus approving of the wish might change things, as it is shown that Shenron has...some respect, so to say, for Lord Beerus. Could just explain it plot-wise as Beerus allowing Shenron to utilize a bit more power for the sake of this wish that's been GoD-approved.
46:48 At this point, are they just ENTIRELY taking the piss with Gohan? Like, I know Gohanverse isn't exactly a popular series, but now I'm just wondering why tf TWO Gohan forms were community things first. IN A ROW.
I really wish they would have just made the Tournament of Power in Friezas path with ALL of the Frieza force. Bring Cooler, King Cold, Zarbon and Dodoria, and The Ginyu force. Sure it doesnt make sense but its a Frieza what if, make him be the center and have Frieza revive all the universes because he wants to invade them all now that he knows his force is strong enough to take it all over.
Just a friendly pointer that in the Ginyu Force vs Pride Troopers route Frieza doesn't take down Jiren which implies the Ginyu Force somehow did it. I really, REALLY was hoping the closing shot of that campaign was going to be Ginyu in Jiren's body to make that make some sense.
I've always loved the ideas of "What If" stories, And while my only real experience with the series is with the Xenoverse series. Even then, I had the idea for a massive DLC or major part of a possible sequel, Where the player Time Patroler could side with, Experience the worlds of, And even see the end result of winning with, Each of the Universes of the ToP. And I ain't just talking about the big 3: 6, 7 and 11, No. ALL of the universes. From being a part of the mother of all underdog stories, For THE underdog universe with Uni-9, To seeing how being "The universe Zamasu was from" is affecting Uni-10, To the spiritual successor of the Ginyu force comic relief fest that is Uni-2. It'd be really interesting to get a deeper look into each of the universes. The Tournament of Power, And the What-ifs that come with the possibilities of each universe winning is ripe for this kind of stuff.
Can I just say that Gohan’s alt timeline actually fixes a massive issue I (and many others) had with Rev F: Frieza is WAY too strong. Making Frieza’s gold form as strong as/weaker than an out of shape Ultimate Gohan is way more reasonable and believable, which is just a nice thing that timeline does on top of giving a genuinely better story than the actual show gave us (and that’s coming from someone who actively likes the GB arc)
34:05 actually, that one makes a lot of sense when you consider that Vegeta probably fought Frieza in his 1st form only. Vegeta had a power level of 20k after the fight against Goku. Since super saiyan is a 50x multiplier, that’d give him a power of 1 million. Which would let him wipe the floor with frieza, with a power of 530k.
Let it be known: I have been doing my best to avoid spoilers for this game until I can afford to buy it myself. This includes clicking away earlier this week as soon as I noticed the title. Bumbles McFumbles. Let it be known that in the tossup between not spoiling a game I’ve been incredibly hyped for and hearing you talk about said game: you win out. Please keep being you and thank you for being as amazing at making content as you are. Considering all the what-ifery we get already its nice to see some decent Official Ifs for a change and custom ones though they are more like Storyboards the What-If channels could work off of if anything
You know, despite you being such a big DBZ fan and the previous videos, this was still a nice surprise of a video to see hit, I'll be eager to watch your thoughts, figuring some of the obvious choices for rankings. I'll share mine as well! :) Goku Black: Yeah, I can see the reasoning here, and I like that your thoughts were similar to mine; I figured a what-if would involve them not fusing, but that they didn't take it a step further and open the possibility of the two disagreeing/fighting is a missed chance. Yeah, they're the "same" person, but are they really? Jiren: I like your observations helping give a little more insight into what's going down in his changes, and having a manga fight be a part of a main story like that is neat, given the manga's issues with ability to be represented in games, but yeah, by virtue of how little there is to do with him, he was never gonna rank high. Piccolo: Yeah...I knew he would end up hitting this side of the ranking, just because so little changes overall. The only real difference is 16 seemingly surviving, and it's totally incidental. His short thing of killing Cell early and stalemating 17 is more of a deviation, and it's a low-budget version of Goku's! (You say Majin Piccolo as one idea, but how's this for another? Staying on Namek after Frieza's beaten to help Namekians, and then Slug shows up? Frieza being the only one to show a movie character, and in a capacity that doesn't adhere to the movie's story itself, is another showing of missed potential, I feel.) Frieza: Frieza's, I think, feels the most...novel, I guess? It's certainly unique, and the ToP stuff is a cool gimmick with all its own branches, so it kinda does more than what a villain victory tends to do like the early victory does. It's definitely a good sign of creative thinking, to say the least. Guess that's what happens when you're the only playable villain story that has more than one saga's worth of presence. (Also your what-if is pretty similar to my thoughts, Mecha Frieza beating Trunks, the Z-Warriors, then deciding to rebel against King Cold now that he's truly the most powerful ever and etc.)
Vegeta: Vegeta's really hits on some of the story beats that seem the most obvious to be done, more or less, The one with Trunks seems like something that should have taken place in a game long ago, and the other is a pretty basic choice, but with a decent twist in gameplay at least. Again, sad that it can't give us Vegeta winning over SSJ3, but what can you do, eh? Goku: There he is. The one that showed they were definitely banking a lot on using the first character you play as to draw people into trying the rest to see what the story changes are. Kinda funny that two of the biggest what-ifs both stem from the very first fight in Z. Makes some sense; I feel the earlier you are in the Z saga, the more room for changes there are overall. (Dang it with the Tien meme, Bumbles, you took me out with that one! XD) Not much to say about them overall, except that I feel they did a pretty good job on making sure Goku had some of the more entertaining ideas. Trunks: Not bad to give some decent what-if stuff to someone who's entirely focused around the Goku Black starting point, huh? Still seems a weird decision to me to not include Cell Saga, even if they didn't branch anything off of it. Still, I like how it's almost universally agreed what's there in that what-if is a really nice take on the two sagas, if not an improvement for a lot of people. Trunks finally gets some much-deserved love. Gohan: Who else could it be, right? I remember when the first screenshot of Gohan Black came and people were scrambling to figure out if it was real or not, just because it was that much out there. (And here's hoping a future update makes that a playable version some day!) If not for the DLC, there's even a moment that seemed ripe for making Beast appear early as well. Overall, for only having one major What If, they went all-out on making sure it was memorable, possibly even more so than people's thoughts on finally seeing the Goku/Gohan fusion happen as the what-if. I can agree with your rankings pretty strongly, and definitely agree with hoping for more content. There's some hints it's possible, with empty fight nodes in the timeline corresponding to stuff like Krillin and Yamcha, plus an entire empty saga between Goku Black and the ToP--whatever that could be--so here's hoping DLC or free updates give us some more to work with!
There is one more gripe I have with the story mode: why are certain character story modes only a few arcs, when they are around for alot more? There are quite a few what ifs that I feel like we missed out on because of that. Also it would make stuff like Gohan's campaign a little more fun so we aren't stuck with so little movesets, while also being able to experience his most important fight firsthand. Just some ideas I would have: Goku: Honestly, nothing to add. He already got the longest storymode. Vegeta: Let us fight in the saiyan saga and actually win. I'd like a version where both Nappa and Vegeta survive, get alot stronger and then fight the Freeza Force on Namek. Also some fights in Super would be neat, he did quite alot there. Maybe a what if ending where he wins against Hit in the Destroyer Tournament. Gohan: Him not being playable in the Cell Saga is so weird. Have a what if where he bonds with 16. Then when Gohan has to fight Cell, 16 tags along. It looks bad, but this time, they didn't remove the Bomb from 16. Cell and 16 die and Gohan turns SS2 as a sad memory of his now lost friend. Piccolo: I wanted to think of something in the Saiyan Saga, but I got turned down because Jack screamed Majin Piccolo in my face and that is probably the best idea. Future Trunks: It NEEDS to start with History of Trunks. Only playing as Future Trunks from Super is so lame. The obvious one is winning with Gohan against the androids, which I would like to lead into a messed up version of the Buu Saga. Also I wanna see Ultimate Future Gohan, easy as that. Freeza: I'm just going to steal Bumbles' idea for another Freeza what if, but I also kinda wanna see it start with a fight against Bardock. You can decide if you'll just lazily deathball him or take him on 1 on 1 to make an example out of him. This would lead to the saiyans swearing their allegiance to Freeza, which leads to him finding Broly waaaaaay earlier. And after having a though fight to subdue him, Broly becomes his personal bodyguard, making it impossible for Goku and his friends to win on Namek. Goku Black: We'll rename it the Zamasu Storymode, because I want to start with Zamasu vs Goku. From there I would like two ideas: When Goku Black visits him, you have the option to either stay rightous or to drift off and become evil. If you stay rightous, Goku Black will do the Zero Mortals Plan alone, while only Zamasu can follow him through time thanks to the time ring he got. Maybe they'll meet a Goku that helps him fighting Black, making Zamasu realize that mortals are weirdly charming. The other would be when Zamasu collects all the balls, you get to decide which Body to switch with: Goku... or Beerus. And then he shows the universe what a true destroyer should be capable of. Jiren: I'd like a what if where the tournament is on hold because multiple threats are happening at the same time throughout the multiverse, and only the Pride Troopers can stop those threats.
Seeing Gohan Black in Sparking Zero's What If story is one of the craziest things I've ever seen here. I mean they did a great job making Gohan amazing again. This is the Gohan we all wanted to see years ago.
Hellzone Grenade is great in this game, and I can't speak for the Dragon Ball games, but it's by far his best super in DBFZ Also 16 wasn't special to Gohan, but think about it: Gohan has had 4 previous snaps, and all of them were to protect those who can't fight. 1. Protecting Goku against Raditz 2. Protecting Piccolo against Nappa 3. Protecting Dende against Dodoria 4. Protecting Krillin against Frieza The significance is that 16 literally couldn't fight, he was nothing but a head, and Gohan's inability to fight was what made 16 throw himself into the open, and stacking the feelings of guilt he already had, causing him to burst with emotion. 16 was just like Gohan, he was gentle, but unlike Gohan, he knew the importance of fighting to protect. Also how hilarious is it that it took a hypothetical what if story where Goku didn't die to Raditz for Goku to finally acknowledge Chiaotzu's existence?
An easy way to improve Frieza's TOP scenario is to have the entire team be the Frieza Force. They actually have a perfect 10 characters to join (Frieza, Cooler, King Cold, Zarbon, Dodoria and the Ginyu Force). Have all of the scenarios you pick individually run through in a row so it really feels like Frieza is tearing his way through the TOP.
Your idea for the Goku Black what-if where Goku Black forces Zamasu into fusion after beating him into submission, becoming more like Goku as they then go on to the Tournament of Power. Hell, they could even have it unlock an alternate skin for Fused Zamasu that uses Goku Black as the base, representing how one half of the fusion has taken control, and they're no longer as united as Zamasu thought. Hell, maybe have there be two endings for this what-if saga. One where they win the tournament of power and fulfill their original desire to wipe out all the mortals, and one where their thirst for battle is greater than their desire to wipe out all mortals, and they wish everyone back purely for the sake of fighting them, justifying it to themselves as "playing with their food"
i think for some of these characters they should expand from "what if" to "what was", like imagine if instead of starting with the tournament of power jiren got to start with his backstory and build up to the tournament, also a ginyu whatif where every fight is a branching path simply because you get to actually keep their body, obviously some of these are the same story wise since ginyu himself ownt change personalities, but their could be some key moments ,like if frieza in his training to go golden ask ginyu to spar with him, and ginyu steals his masters body
30:27 FINALLY! Somebody GETS IT! also, Something I don't think people get about in universe power scaling for dragon ball is that super saiyan is more of a set level of power on a chart based on what SSJ level can kill what villain, Despite sources calling it a multiplier, writing-wise in games, movies and even the tv shows, they don't really see it that way
What if vegeta got a good trim, what if gohan dodged instead of dipped, what if goku and piccolo actually got their driving licence? The possibilities maaan
I really feel the nigh impossible to navigate dream battle creator is so they can sell more what if stories as DLC further down the line. Which, I mean, I kinda hope they do since holy shit this game need more singleplayer contents

@@maximillianoorosco-randhaw9336 *"He literally states to Piccolo that he has people to protect, AKA his wife, child, father mother, brother, teacher, friends, home, etc. That’s why he trains, to get stronger in order to better protect those he cares about."*
However, this only works in the spur of the moment, this ideology cannot be sustained in the long run.
*"Just because he wants to train doesn’t make him a Goku 2.0. That’s a heavy misrepresentation of his desire and motivations."*
I was exaggerating, however, my point still stands, you do not want Gohan to be Gohan, you want Gohan to be this powerful clever fighter that trains to protect the planet yet that isn't who Gohan is.
*"This shows he can both a scholar and fighter,"*
No, he can't. Do you know how much time it takes to be an scholar? Some don't even sleep at night! When would Gohan have the time to train?
*"heck the what if story literally says that Gohan trains with Piccolo and still manages to do his job."*
Because the writters wern't paying attention to the little details, they just wanted fun What Ifs.
*"Just because he doesn’t like to fight, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t, people do things they don’t want to do because they have to. There are people who hate doing work but do it anyway because they have to."*
Bad comparisson. We have to work in modern society, there's no other alternative.
Gohan however a half alien hybrid who move very high speeds and get things done if the plot lets him."*
You don't know what being an scholar entails, do ya? It doesn't matter how fast Gohan is because being an scholar requires hours upon hours of investigation. Physical speeds wont reduce the time that said investigation would take. For example: His insect research he did for Superheroes. He cannot force those Super ants to move faster and to live their lives faster, ergo, he would have to observe them for days, without stopping paying attention to them, so that he can analyze the results and understand how those insects live. All of this takes, at minimum, a couple weeks to do, research taking months is the norm for scholars.
*"instead of making the same mistakes over and over again,"*
What "mistakes"?! Gohan wanting to follow his dreams and living his life however he wants to do so? That would be a really insulting argument to make.
*"Also Goku and Vegeta haven’t really gotten the job done in most of the stuff in Super"*
Because those they fought simply couldn't be killed (not even by an hypothetical full power Gohan). Beerus was simply in another level and Zamasu wished for immortality meanwhile Goku Black was equally as strong as Goku was. However, for every other treat both Goku and Vegeta were ready.
*"and banking it all on others rather than preparing for the worst where you might have to fight to protect those you care about is not a good character trait."*
Thing is that you are forcing Gohan to live his life in a way that he doesn't want to live it. He isn't interested in being Earth's guardian, that could be seen as soon as the end of the Namek saga. You are basically saying "Gohan, throw your own dreams in the trash because they don't matter, you have to defend Earth like it or not".
*"The only time Goku and Vegeta ever really got the job done by the two of them alone is in Super Broly,"*
And against Zamasu (Goku could have even ended the entire season early had he not wanted to fight, seeing how he still had the Zeno-button). The ToP required Gohan because they were forced to have 10 fighters and they didn't know about Broly.
*"It’s necessary for Gohan prepare for when things inevitably go south for the umpteenth time, because peace is NEVER everlasting in Dragon Ball."*
No, it isn't. Goku and Vegeta are still there. You are just too closed-minded to understand this.

I really hope new story characters or additional sparking episode content is part of the future of this game. It'd be such a good way to add new content with new characters or just seeing other characters in the story mode take the reigns. Jiren gets set up to finally be interesting and expanded upon
Then gets nothing but Heroes cameos after

I locked in... with selfcest?"
Honesty, the idea you proposed with Black getting angry and leads to them having an altercation sounds cool but I honestly would change it somewhat slightly. Black would try and kill Zamasu or at least strip him of his time ring and earrings before leaving him stranded in the dead timeline. Black then goes up the pecking order, fighting Jiren to prove himself as the strongest before going up to Beerus and Whis.
0:29, I point you towards Ultimate Ninja Storm
Another drop in the bucket of "Just make Cooler canon already!"

@@opadrip that would be awesome if it happened, like what they originally planned for Budokai 3 before it was cut.
Screw it, I want a Beerus story mode and "what ifs."

“Yakubian Demon” was words that I didn’t expect at all
wish it had a cell story so we could CELL D O R A D O

35:55 The big difference is that Piccolo remembered to hit his vital organs this time. All of them!
AKA Bumbles gets to geek out even harder this year than they already have.
4:37 I just found out what I was watching lol 😭🔥
It also would make it so SSG doesn't get immediately outclassed after a single movie. Probably.
Aw, I always love seeing versions of a good relationship between Trunks and Vegeta. My two favorite characters in my youth
I still find it insane that despite being on the cover and having an figure, broly has no story mode, that wild. The lack of movie saga also hurt
There's a what if that would be interesting.
What if Fu notices you doing what if scenarios.
Spit out my drink at the Yakubian demon line, I sincerely apologize for not being familiar with your game

The one sparking zero video I’ve been waiting for.
You know, despite you being such a big DBZ fan and the previous videos, this was still a nice surprise of a video to see hit, I'll be eager to watch your thoughts, figuring some of the obvious choices for rankings. I'll share mine as well! :)
Goku Black: Yeah, I can see the reasoning here, and I like that your thoughts were similar to mine; I figured a what-if would involve them not fusing, but that they didn't take it a step further and open the possibility of the two disagreeing/fighting is a missed chance.
Frieza being the only one to show a movie character, and in a capacity that doesn't adhere to the movie's story itself, is another showing of missed potential, I feel.)
Frieza: Frieza's, I think, feels the most...novel, I guess?
Just some ideas I would have:
Goku: Honestly, nothing to add.
Jiren: I'd like a what if where the tournament is on hold because multiple threats are happening at the same time throughout the multiverse, and only the Pride Troopers can stop those threats.
a while back my friend made a bunch of Tien edits, it was a big joke in our group. hearing that song every time Tien is on screen was just too funny
Seeing Gohan Black in Sparking Zero's What If story is one of the craziest things I've ever seen here. I mean they did a great job making Gohan amazing again. This is the Gohan we all wanted to see years ago.
Hellzone Grenade is great in this game, and I can't speak for the Dragon Ball games, but it's by far his best super in DBFZ
Also 16 wasn't special to Gohan, but think about it: Gohan has had 4 previous snaps, and all of them were to protect those who can't fight.
1. Protecting Goku against Raditz
2. Protecting Piccolo against Nappa
3. Protecting Dende against Dodoria
4. Protecting Krillin against Frieza
The significance is that 16 literally couldn't fight, he was nothing but a head, and Gohan's inability to fight was what made 16 throw himself into the open, and stacking the feelings of guilt he already had, causing him to burst with emotion. 16 was just like Gohan, he was gentle, but unlike Gohan, he knew the importance of fighting to protect.
Also how hilarious is it that it took a hypothetical what if story where Goku didn't die to Raditz for Goku to finally acknowledge Chiaotzu's existence?
Just noticed them on rewatch, how you snuck in the Tien appreciation posts in the Solar Flares, like how TFS would do. Absolutely Chad move there. lol
I have never watched Dragon Ball. All I know is by pop culture osmosis. This video is a huge trip, and honestly cute to see you fanboy so much XD
One where they win the tournament of power and fulfill their original desire to wipe out all the mortals, and one where their thirst for battle is greater than their desire to wipe out all mortals, and they wish everyone back purely for the sake of fighting them, justifying it to themselves as "playing with their food"
gohan and trunks being right above goku and vegeta feels cool the whole new generation stepping up thing
I don't watch Dragonball, but I just like watching Uncle Jack videos so much, I decided to walk in.
As a not Dragonball watcher,
Great video!
Someone was excited to cover this, I see. Good to see Sparking Zero is good stuff.
Gotta love you constantly teasing us with showing gohan footage whenever you talk about something being rated anywhere other than the top.
R.I.P Devilman from tenkaichi 3
i think for some of these characters they should expand from "what if" to "what was", like imagine if instead of starting with the tournament of power jiren got to start with his backstory and build up to the tournament, also a ginyu whatif where every fight is a branching path simply because you get to actually keep their body, obviously some of these are the same story wise since ginyu himself ownt change personalities, but their could be some key moments ,like if frieza in his training to go golden ask ginyu to spar with him, and ginyu steals his masters body
Gohan blanco? That’s sounds… very familiar…
Does he know
30:27 FINALLY!
35:40 Bro, I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. I was laughing for 5 minutes straight, LOL. That deserves a 😂.
I really feel the nigh impossible to navigate dream battle creator is so they can sell more what if stories as DLC further down the line. Which, I mean, I kinda hope they do since holy shit this game need more singleplayer contents
Shrugging off the lack of OG Dragon Ball and calling Bergamo a "character nobody wanted" within the first two minutes, YOU'RE ON THIN ICE, JACK.
"Goku's backstory is just Superman" My guy, this fangirl is bouta freak out.
25:17 That's actually close to the plot of Revelation F. An Audio Drama/What If series by MasakoX the voice actor of DBZA goku.
What if Goku was BETRAYED and TRAPPED in the HYPERBOLIC TIME CHAMBER
every dragon ball game from here on needs their own explorations of what-ifs
1:52 unironically the single most overturned character in the game
One thing I'm disappointed with this game is the exclusion of older what if characters that I love like Gokule and Tiencha who both haven't been seen outside of mobile games since Budokai 2.
Well this wasn’t expected today but I’m not gonna complain about the balan wonderworld guy discussing this goofy ahh fighting game.
You can say the word ass you know. It isn't a crime
