Tim, I am not a professional painter, but always, always start at the top of your project and work your way down. Turn down the air pressure, tape your masking paper to the wall to check your spray pattern. Lock your wrist, and go from side to side the whole length. Your uncle taught you better than that. ❤ also have your next cup ready do go, don't allow wherever you left off to dry even the slightest. Uncle Ronnie taught you better.
Just a few words...from an ACTUAL PAINTER....always start up high...work your way down....so you don't need to worry about the hose dragging across it.....and always check spray pattern on throw away material....do not adjust your gun on the project! Ffs Timmy you know better..
All you guy’s hating on him about westins truck are you forgetting that he had a twisted frame a unusable cab and a warped hood the only part of westins truck that was usable was the sleeper engine and transmission everything else had too be replaced.
Tim next time start out in the middle of the hood and work to the edges, so your air hose is never over wet paint.. it also helps to make a few dry runs, get a feel for how your going to sweep the gun, before you pull the trigger, make sure you can reach everything, and make sure your sweeps are comfortable and fluid movements..
Please please please Tim. Get a book on basic painting. 1 learn proper gun setting. 2 learn where to start painting. 3 learn why you should always wear tight clothing. These are three of the most basic and most important lessons for painting trucks. Especially on such important jobs. Either do it right or take it to a pro. Yes it’s expensive but it’s worthwhile getting them finished properly mate. Please don’t take offence, it’s meant to help you.
I can agree with the heights thing. Anything more that six feet and I start dreading it... and I work in (and maintain) a building with 30' ceilings in spots!
As a fellow business owner i salute you for investing in your people! It pays off in so many ways when you have an employee who feel like they are a part of the company instead of just someone who is just waiting for a better gig to come along.
To all the commenters on Gentry's last video, I apologize for what seemed like hate you all. I know you giving all the helpful advice you could. I mistook some of it has hate mail, but hey I commend all you painters and body men. We all had to start somewhere. Hey Tim, have you ever noticed how much your father looks like, "Whistler" (Kris Kristofferson)
Tim good job the more you do the better you get. But when it comes to pressure i always adjust my pressure to get the paint to do what I want so you can have alot of critical guys out there. Everybody has to learn. The truck looks great. I been painting for 40 years.
I used to cringe watching Tim paint trailers and frames in the old shop. Watching him paint a truck in the new shop is double cringe. Rookie painter is right!
@@vodkabath9789if you can actually do this, try remembering trying something you are not familiar with and seeing how well that went, everybody starts somewhere,I'm going to be doing the exact same thing in miniature using an airbrush,I've sprayed loads of bikes in my days but this is new and I'm unsure how it'll go,but I will give it a go. I have seen airbrush work in trucks(full size, check out Matt in the uk,stunning work!)and have no illusions on recreating that kind of level on the first blow over. Bottom line is if you're happy with sod the others, they can look away,or maybe offer guidance like a lot have! Keep it up tim, practice makes perfect,or near as!! Del,U.K. side of the pond!
Open up your material up on your spray gun and the fan you should be able to get a fan almost 12in wide and if you can't change the nozzle and you can see what the nozzle recommending. For the material you use and you start from the top and work down not from the sides up hopefully this helps a little if it's not too late
Great job Tim I love how you care about your drivers. I painted semis for a good while you work your way from the top down. Get the scary shit that to can’t see over with and work down
The haters are so envious of a hard working man who is doing his best to build a better life for his family and the people that he keeps in employment, so please give the man a rest and look in your own windows
I like the color. Looks great so far. A great way to treat your drivers. You treat them right and I will bet they are super good drivers and will take care of you in return!
You can tell Steve is a military guy That is definitely a military style paint job. that is an awesome color. When you guys first started talking about how you're gonna do that truck? I could picture it and I thought it was gonna look So Cool. You just don't see anybody doing something like the bed liner. And then doing black On all the chrome and stainless will look Amazing.
Tim's doing it, and there's always lots to learn especially with painting vehicles. He's gonna get there, sometimes he goes around the bend first. And mixing color to the Raptorliner, it's gonna be a hard, durable finish.
What a great idea. Can't wait to see what it looks like after couple hundred thousand miles. May be the new thing. Are roads and weather ain't getting any better. Please keep us posted on how paint job holds up. Hello to all from Siesta Key Florida
The only thing saving your butt is the texture of the bed liner.. if you spray clear like you did that base coat your gonna have more runs than a Yankee game!
Just a thought. Paint in black, Welcome Home in script on the side of the hood and the back of the sleeper. I like the paint, and I agree with Steve that color is good.
I painted my old Nissan trash / haul anything truck with "white" rust oleum turbo cans .excellent product BTW. a little sanding buffing. its a nice 15 ft paint job all day long.😊
I think the color Steve picked was a wise choice. Not only does it look good it will probably be cooler in temperature inside with a light color outside. Good job to the Gentry team in getting this project off the to do list.
I like the black fender detail like you had on the W900 but that's just me :) Black shiny fenders against the textured body probably would look pretty nice too.
I’ve done raptor on a couple vehicles. Good stuff and the guns are better than the competition that have plastic trigger. Raptor is really rugged stuff.
you need to build a proper paint boot with scaffolding on hydraulics so you can paint whole truck..lol.. including pit for you to get frame the way you want- can you build a two lane paint booth at your farm? Maybe using old army style hoop buildings???
Remember Cleetus wrapped his Ford pickup truck Khaki and everyone hated it. It was a bad look. Hopefully once the black wheels and steps and stacks are on it will all come together.
Tim I have went to a lot of paint classes and I am a certified professional PPG painter do your flat surfaces first then the sides also keep the gun on go across the panel and overlap the coats don’t turn the gun off and on ,man when your doing a heavy metallic paints it will have what they call leprosariums spots on your new pain and will have to respray it I know your doing Weston’s truck soon thought I would give you so advice to do get paint every time Great video thanks Tim and Gentry and sons 😊 BTW i like the color
Man the longer I watch....the fuckin harder it is to watch this.

And position yourself so that you get a full spray path between natural boundries . You should not interrupt a spray pattern in the middle of a panel.
You are more than 100% correct John. Chip Foose has nothing to worry about from this guy!
Just a few words...from an ACTUAL PAINTER....always start up high...work your way down....so you don't need to worry about the hose dragging across it.....and always check spray pattern on throw away material....do not adjust your gun on the project! Ffs Timmy you know better..
Yup, atleast it was the primer. Also sounds like he's pushing 50+psi out of a hvlp gun😅
Your 100 percent right pressure is too high
Agree 100 percent this guy knows nothing to much about painting..
I knew the painters where cringing LOL
yup been painting for 30 years and driving truck for 19 years, but we all learn from the bottom of the ladder, my opinion, but did a good job...
Nothing like a beautiful shop coated with paint overspray.
You are an awesome man Tim, I wish every boss treat their drivers the way you do
Trucks will be flying before Westin gets his truck back.
Ain't that the truth.
This video is like watching paint dry 😅. See what I did there 🤣???? Thanks for sharing I guess ☺️.
Very good first try, just keep your day job ❤ 😊
Wow bed liner on the complete cab, hood and sleeper. Good luck even if it sticks for a month
All you guy’s hating on him about westins truck are you forgetting that he had a twisted frame a unusable cab and a warped hood the only part of westins truck that was usable was the sleeper engine and transmission everything else had too be replaced.
We are hating on his abysmal painting skill. He should be sending that out to a shop and practicing on a Prius, not a truck
@vodkabath9789 We all had to start somewhere and even you weren't a professional your first paint job Son
@@vodkabath9789If you don't like it then go watch somthin else lol

No offense taken I’m wanting to learn how to do it the best of my abilities so any advice is appreciated
I've wanted to Raptor liner my T600 in OD green for a long time. Can't wait to see how this looks.
Never seen anyone paint bottom up
You said Westin's paint job had to be perfect....you taking it up to Davis brothers???
I can agree with the heights thing. Anything more that six feet and I start dreading it... and I work in (and maintain) a building with 30' ceilings in spots!
I'm not a fan of the textured look, but if Steve is happy that's what matters. And that color being basecoat-clearcoat would have looked awesome.
As a fellow business owner i salute you for investing in your people! It pays off in so many ways when you have an employee who feel like they are a part of the company instead of just someone who is just waiting for a better gig to come along.

would be cool if you could make the stacks look like gun barrel exhaust gas ports
That would look smokin' in black paint
Sources say Weston’s truck might be leaving Gentry. Bruce is taking over the build
Yikes
Well then Weston ain't never gonna git it back and if he does it won't be Right Coming from Whistlin Wilson lol
Might as well just scrap it now.
Tim good job the more you do the better you get. But when it comes to pressure i always adjust my pressure to get the paint to do what I want so you can have alot of critical guys out there. Everybody has to learn. The truck looks great. I been painting for 40 years.
I just need to see the finished truck with all the black. Love you guys.
Tim your doing a awesome job buddy I appreciate your hard work and dedication to your drivers and especially your family love the videos
Popcorn ceilings, now a popcorn classic that is going to be a really unique ride
Steve picked a great color! I was laughing when you were trying to sell him on the automatic. All he needs is a GreenAPU and hes set to go 👍
I used to cringe watching Tim paint trailers and frames in the old shop. Watching him paint a truck in the new shop is double cringe. Rookie painter is right!
Couldn’t have said it better myself. This is disgusting

Remember when he painted the back of the frame on, I think, Rooster? If I remember, he even thought it was a disaster.
Tim when you paint always start at the top and work your way down. That way you don't drag your hose or body parts over the wet paint.
MY DAD YEARS AGO HAD A CHEVY PICKUP THAT COLOR LOVE IT LOOKS GREAT
Quick! Somebody get that paint gun outta his hands lol.... Starting and stopping at 6 inches. Mans gonna have all kinds of build up

Just what I was Thinking..
Open the Fluid Valve...
Harbor freight gun....
Thanks for the advice, I’ve learned quite a bit doing this project
Top down and keep wet edge and gun consistent distance....it's a dance😅
that colour with blackout tint windows 👌👌
Steve you did a great job on the color. Tim your doing a great job on painting
Shes looking good Tim...Like to see her ready for the road....stay safe you all
@STEVE IF YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE COLOR YOU PICK...THAN I AM HAPPY FOR YOU...COOL LOOKS GOOD.😀
Ty love it
Look at the boofhead smokin in the background while he's playing with paint lol....
You should get someone to come in an airbrush the American flag on the back of the cab
I deeply empathize with the difficulty with heights. After 5 feet off the ground I tend to call it quits lol
Great job Tim I love how you care about your drivers. I painted semis for a good while you work your way from the top down. Get the scary shit that to can’t see over with and work down
We done this to a land rover defender in bright orange 🍊 it was sick
Steve did an awesome job picking that color! With the blacked out chrome it is going to look sick!!!!
Thank you I’m so happy with how it’s turned out
That truck is going to look friggin awesome!!! But good luck on keeping it clean.. Still awesome though!!
Wow really bed liner on a truck? Fine on the frame or tanks but on a the truck . Just Wow!!!!!
The haters are so envious of a hard working man who is doing his best to build a better life for his family and the people that he keeps in employment, so please give the man a rest and look in your own windows

U nailed Ty most were sceptical even Tim but we all love the finished project will be rollin out the shop today
When you mixed it I wasn’t a fan of the color but seeing it on the truck… it looks great.
Painting like a boss Braxtons turn next

Hello to all from Siesta Key Florida
I will
As a painter of many years to muvh air not enough product adjust your spay gun
Don’t stop and start on the work continue holding the trigger till you are off the panel then start again
Hello Tim I love the way you are doing this 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
The only thing saving your butt is the texture of the bed liner.. if you spray clear like you did that base coat your gonna have more runs than a Yankee game!
That base coat looks great. Can't wait to see it when yall are done painting it
That is an awesome color!! Can't wait to see it with the black on it to!!
Great job, looks better than I thought at first when completed will look awesome 👌 😊😊😊
Just a thought. Paint in black, Welcome Home in script on the side of the hood and the back of the sleeper. I like the paint, and I agree with Steve that color is good.
Love the color you did a great job
It looks like a cup of coffee it's like a coffee color which looks Good
Uncle Ronnie will be real proud of your painting skills , it looks fantastic
You did a good job Tim
I painted my old Nissan trash / haul anything truck with "white" rust oleum turbo cans .excellent product BTW. a little sanding buffing. its a nice 15 ft paint job all day long.😊
Tim I really like the color of the paint it looks very awesome 👌
STEVE love that tatoo of the flag. That's awesome.
That' turned out good looking buddy like how you invest in all your good drivers like Steve met him in the Mack in Arizona
I like the military colers and the desert sand looks good when everything else is blacked out
All it needs is a set of texas long horns on the front hood. Lol honestly she looks beautiful so far.
Awesome video Tim the truck is looking awesome !
I think the color Steve picked was a wise choice. Not only does it look good it will probably be cooler in temperature inside with a light color outside. Good job to the Gentry team in getting this project off the to do list.

Goin crazy with It right off the rip
Poor Ronnie out of a job. Looks good FELLAS, gotta start somewhere
The White/Grey Primer made the 'sand stone' POP! 🙂
I take it Uncle Ronny is welcome to come and paint for ya if he gets an itch to paint some 🙃
Practicing on that FLD truck before you paint Westin truck is a good idea practice makes perfect !paint job
Looking good Tim, rytime is correct I would suggest longer strokes to avoid stop build up.
But, love what you’re doing keep pushing forward.
I’ve done raptor on a couple vehicles. Good stuff and the guns are better than the competition that have plastic trigger. Raptor is really rugged stuff.

Should call that truck “Nadine” cos it’s your Coffee coloured Cadillac 😂
Perfect color
Remember Cleetus wrapped his Ford pickup truck Khaki and everyone hated it. It was a bad look. Hopefully once the black wheels and steps and stacks are on it will all come together.
Truck looks Awesome nice job !!! Great content again !!!!
Outstanding paint job Tim.
Truck looks awesome, you guys did a great job on it.
Tim the chip foose foose of the trucking world.

Love The Colour
Time for a cup of coffee and some Gentrys
Tht is a very nice color 4 tht truck
Just noticed your shirt. Nice Cletus shirt.👍
I think that chocolate milk with tall chrome stacks would be sick. Great color pick.
Would be interesting to see what a different splatter color on top of the base coat would look like. Nice video!
