Thanks for this video, one thing did hit me. "I got lazy". I have a physical job and clearly out do the young ones, I still have the stamina and endurance, but just got lazy about working out. Thanks for letting me know I got lazy. Time to get over it and not let it rule me. Thanks bro.
I'm 70. Wife passed 6 years ago. No kids. I don't have time to be lazy. You see single people ( No wife, girlfriend, mother, housekeeper, ) have a saying. If we don't do it , it don't get done. Not that its hard, but it is time consuming. Shop, cook, clean, laundry, car maintenance, home maintenance, write out bills, dr. Appointments, then workout.😅
Interesting comments about jumping. I’m 57 and have been noticing lately that the explosive lifts seem to be decaying. I got into paddling (kayak and dragon boat) a couple of years ago and let lifting fall away but I’m back at it over the last 12 months. The power lifts are recovering nicely but cleans and snatch just aren’t coming together. The rapid power output of jumping could be just what is needed.
I’m 60 and I continue to lift. I do pull ups, dips, light squats, bench press, dumbbell and barbell curls. I also do leg lifts for my abs wrist curls for my forearms and neck curls from my neck. I also like heading to heavy bag when I get the opportunity to go to the gym and not train at home.
Honestly Peak Strength has really helped me. Ive done it all. Bodybuilding, crossfit, olympic lifting plus i coach. I got bored with it all. Peak Strength got me training again. Its been an amazing three weeks.
I really appreciate you addressing us older guys. Does the AI in your app consider age? I’m not lazy, and I really like to workout but since hitting my 50s I’ve had one joint injury after another. It scares me a little now to go heavy or to do plyometrics. I need a slow, smart progression.
Great video...starting Olympic lifting about 4 years ago after a very long lay off following surgeries. My over reaching being to move better. I have recently shifted to 10 day block to allow for more opportunity to recover and allow for life and family events. I typically do between 800-1000 reps between 65-95%. I follow the soviet undulating waves. I do not do much hypertrophy and woefully lacking in cardio. With that said, still better off than when I started. I will be 59 in a couple weeks and don't chase numbers.
How much time is this all gonna take? Old Man Strength is great on paper. The issue is the time to do ALL of these things. 180 minutes of weekly lifting. 180 minutes of LSD work. 30 minutes of HIIT work. Jumps, too. Throw in life requirements for work and your kids' activities and school. Better hope nobody gets sick....
You don't have to do it all at first. You can just pick a couple to start. You then add things as life opens up. He described specifically why he picked the things he did; just choose what's important to you now versus later and start with those.
I've been trying to integrate cardio and range-of-motion/mobility drills into my kids' activities. For example, during soccer/basketball/swim practices I'll spend the time briskly walking laps around the field/court/pool and doing basic stretching and mobility work (knee raises, arm circles, side bends, etc). For weight training, I stick to compound barbell lifts and do a push-pull-leg split. I'll do a leg session in the morning (30-45 min including warmup, I have tight hamstrings and hips requiring longer warmup) and I'll do a push & pull session in the evening (45-60 minutes). I lift twice per week. Admittedly I'm lagging on the HIIT and explosive work.
Some workout ideas for dads: - Throwing your kid up in the air (don't forget to catch him) - Swinging kid instead of kettlebell - Rolling your kid from the ground on your shoulder, standing, reversing. Kid has fun, you get a little movement. It's not a joke, life taught me you train whenever you can and whatever you can.
180 grams of protein daily?! Good lord, maybe skew it for body weight? That is a shit ton of food, even high density food, and you still need to supplement around the meals with a protein shake or similar.
@@noalane3626 Buddy you’re jocking up another man like he’s your role model, while making blanket statements about strangers, and you’re calling others insecure? This is funny at this point

I'm 51. Lifting 4 days a week before working a full time warehouse job. Running circles round all the youngins! 😂
How many internet points are you looking for?
@@BERNARDO712
Are you jealous since you made a degrading comment towards someone you don’t even know?
@BERNARDO712 🤣 I'll take as many as I can at this point.

I am 57. My 35 year old doctor does not like the fact I deadlift. I've deadlifted since I was 15. He does not like that I clean and jerk 240lb either.
I've met him before, is his name Dr. Glassback ? 😂
Doctor Dolittle

What a stud!
Love this. I train BJJ four times per week. Lift twice. 49-years-old. Trying to figure out a good routine.

Great video. Where can I get one of those t-shirts?
Danes got microphones in my living room.

I'm 88 and built like a tank
Bro I thought you forgot about us. Thanks for this
When i think of old man strength, i think of strong grip, able to pick up heavy things from the ground and large forearms.
I'm 53 and I just set 3 records in the USAPL, Colorado, in my age/weight class. Maybe I should write your "old man" programs. Sheesh.
😂😂😂 I'm 56 and still looking better than most younger people today 😂😂😂

I'm 49 and ripped got a 6 pack not beer ha
Too much for the working class person with time constraints. 2-3 days is pushing it for your regular person
