Jigging for MONSTER Lake Trout!! Waiting on Coho..Out of Hammond, IN on Lake Michigan 2/2/2024

- Lake Michigan's conditions were fishable and we wanted to get out. So, instead of trolling and catching a few brown trout and small coho, while we are waiting for the mother load of Coho to come in, we decided to head out of Hammond Marina onto Lake Michigan to jig up Lake Trout. We ended up with 4 Lake Trout today. We also casted at the warm water discharge as well and ended up snagging a big carp which we released and also catching a smaller Brown Trout. My main go-pro quit on me so this video was made with one camera. We will have a new camera on the next video. Thanks for all the support guys!!

Nice lakers!
Thanks, bud!!!
I gotta try this one day! Awesome video
Thanks man!!!
Another great video and GREAT catches!
Thanks Dude!!
Thanks for the video and fish update! Inland lakes here in SWMI are almost 50, so I'll get in some crappie fishing before the coho start!
Thanks for the comment, Chris! Good luck in the crappies. Its warming fast for sure.
Wow quite the total pounds of Lake Trout. Great job as always.
Thanks, Jim!
I know a lot of people will probable think i,m crazy , but carp eggs are really good eating, i absolutly love eating them.
I’ve had smaller carp but have never eaten the eggs. Thanks for watching!
Nicely done boys! thanks for the early season open water content!!!
You’re welcome! Thank you for the comment!
Absolute Giants what a day of fishing. Looks like you've found a new lure to use. 👍🏾
Yep! Thanks, Jett. We always try to be open on what’s working from our friends. Those tube jigs work great!
Nice catch, I noticed you guys released everything is lake trout not in season yet?
Thanks,
Tim
You can keep lake trout all year long. We enjoy catch and release when we are near shore jigging. Plus, these fish were a bit on the large size for us to enjoy eating.
Great day on the water guys!
Thanks, Josh!
What an awesome day on the lake! A light south wind are magical words for me. Those were absolute tankers! I can't imagine jigging up a 21 lb fish. Do you use the same rod/reel combo as for coho? Awesome job, Brian and crew!
Thanks, Bob. We use 6.6 medium action rods with bait casters and 10 pound test. Just normal bass stuff, really. We loosen the drags a bit too, so they don’t break off
@@BigLakeLittleBoat Sorry I was a little tardy watching your video....not sure how that happened. lol I have a trip planned to go jigging in the western basin of Lake Erie next month. 3 days....can't wait! Heck, even a tanker walleye won't compare to those lakers you caught!
@@Moondog9322 you are a loyal follower and we appreciate it! Good luck with walleye. Email me some pics!
@@BigLakeLittleBoat Absolutely! Fish on!
Killed it
Thanks, E!
Nice going guys
Thanks, John
Those are some nice lakers! Good job!
Thanks, Chris!
Very nice! That brown will be great eating! 👍🏻
Thanks J!!!
Way to jig um up bro!!! Great job man. 💪🏻🇺🇸👊🏻🎣
Thanks, Rick!
Love those multi-species days! I also love that you got this out a day after recording. I wanted to get the yak out Saturday but life had other plans so I'm fishing through you vicariously. Regarding the carp, catch one on a fly rod and you'll become obsessed :)
Well, we appreciate your support. Thank you and hope you can get out soon. We love the multi species as well. So many things to go for on our Great Lake.
Question- Do you ever keep your lake trout. How do they taste. Do you have any recipes for trout. I feel the ones 12 lbs or less should be good eaters.
We rarely keep any lake trout while jigging, because we want to kind of keep the same fish coming back, but we do keep under 5 to 6 pound lake trout when we are out offshore, and will eat those. We cook the smaller Lake trout just as we would early season coho. My wife made a good recipe the other day that involved a special sauce and dried tomatoes and stuff and it was fantastic.
The only time that we would keep a trout, while Lake trout jigging is if they lost a lot of blood, and they were going to die
Maybe its time to get the wife to start a thing on recipes. Where she can give hers and receive recipes from others. I would but I don't have good computer skills. When you tell stories you get my mouth watering to try new recipes. Even though I love the one I have gotten over the years. @@BigLakeLittleBoat
@@johnlarocco2661 @jimeikelberg7934 sent me a fantastic recipe over email. It was great.
Awesome video 📹 Bryan it was a fun day of fishing 🎣 😀
Thanks, Tom!
That wind was rough today.
I bet! That’s why we went ahead and got Saturday out of the way.
Looks like a nice launch. Whats it cost to use it?
If you are an IN resident its free. Not sure what it is for out of state, tho.
I figured out why you boyz didn't launch at Cal Park to fish that area. Its like $29 to launch there!
Yup!
….setting the alarm😂
Hahahah
Can you start it now lol. I'm waiting
😂
I'm tryin to find a spot to launch my kayak for free either near hammond or the east side.
Nice day on the lake guys!
Thanks, Glen!!!
