@@SuperPatsyb I’m not sure what the little box method is. I just learned how to do it from mariners. They do want your notes and the map back that you open and use for your exam.

Yes. Boat on the right has the right away as long as they stay on their course. Chance of collision is always on the table. If the other boat is not taking action, you have to alter course before you collide. Thanks, Scott!

Hi@@BigLakeLittleBoat, I wouldn't get anywhere near a collision situation out there trolling. I'm thinking more about adjusting trolling direction. I had a situation where the boat on my right was zigging and zagging all over and I had a heck of a time staying away. Is the approaching boat in the right if they're zigging and zagging? Thanks

@@scottgarbs7761 In a crossing situation where a boat is the stand on, they should keep their heading and the give way boat should change course. Me and another charter boat friend were talking about how most folks dont even know there are rules of the road. I like the radio and common courtesy approach by staying at least 150 yards away and assuming every situation will be a collision if I dont react. Sorry it took so long to respond.

Hey, John. Ever since I purchased this Powerdrive with I-Pilot, I always run this for the autopilot. I use the big motor for push and then the trolling motor for steering the whole time. I went as far as rigging heavy guage wires off my charging batteries to my powerdrive batteries to keep them charged and 100% all day. Thanks for the comment.

We do not. I would like one but haven't got around to looking into it. What I normally do is research the Michigan City buoy and see what the water temps are all the way to the bottom. It would certainly help with speed at the ball, however, the only non speed tolerant bait I use is a dodger and fly which I normally run higher in water column anyways.

I’m in the same boat as you. I had the old style fish hawk TD Thai I clipped on a ball and ran it down and back up it would give you temp readings every 5 ft and tell you the depth off pressure. No speed though

We use the speed planers. I believe they are 12". They work great on the big coppers and you can wrap the line around the pinch pad.
