He sounds genuinely upset at himself for making such a stupid error. Not the cheating at the game, but the sucking at video editing part that got him caught. Really sounds like he's realizing he is an idiot as he claims he couldn't be that stupid as his defense.
I mean, the splits doesn't even move. He could have easily edited in a static object over that part of the video to keep his "sum of best" looking the same. Dude just was not nearly as smart as he thought he was.
@@Taolan8472 Yeah, if you're good enough at video editing to splice the run you can easily fix that split display. You just have to actually think to do it.
I love how immediately after he's called out, instead of denying it, he says "well lets just say I did cheat, do you really think I'd be stupid enough to make a mistake like this?" Uhh... yeah mate, I do
you could hear the self reflection in that. he was basically admitting to himself he fucked up and made the dumbest mistake, but tried to hide it from the people in the call.
I love answering questions like that with "yes". Both to be funny, but also because that's exactly the thing someone would forget while they're hiding bigger stuff.
Every single one of these cheaters that get caught initially responds the exact same way. "Seriously? I wouldn't be that stupid if I did cheat" it's a classic at this point
@@Speeeedy yeah like if someone showed me my WR run suddenly changes 4 seconds Id be like "WHOA WAIT WHAT? DO THAT AGAIN? WHAT THE FUCK??? HOW THE HELL??"
That was particularly amusing. The idiot was like, "don't you think I would notice that?" The guy mentioning it should have said, "yes, I would have expected you to notice it, but you clearly didn't".
At least it’s Karl talking about it, he always manages to do a game’s community justice while talking abt the worst shit you can possibly do in a video game
Check out Cruppz for some quality commentary about speedrun/high rounds on the various zombies maps from World at War to Black Ops 3. He's really insightful into the limitations and advantages speedrunners have in getting the most of every game, especially when it comes to the inevitable game crash.
Highlighting a bad, but we also get to learn about good each time. I didn't know anything about the community much and now I'm gonna watch a few channels while winding down for the evening. 👍 👍

I think the moderator interviewing him actually used some pretty neat interrogation techniques, like leaving a long pause after a question is answered, letting the "suspect" dig their own grave by elaborating on their answer too much, trying to convince the other person and get them to say something.
@sourhour3403 Good catch! this is a really late reply but I’m a former detective so I had to comment. I’m happy you noticed that, and it’s actually a real interrogation technique that the FBI teaches. It’s called a “pregnant pause” and it serves the purpose you assumed it did. At the moment of confrontation they basically have a natural tendency to fill the awkward silence, often with information that explains the evidence before you finish confronting them about it. But due to the adrenaline dump and lack of prep time, they almost always give an inconsistency, a lie, or accidental confession (excited utterance) by mistake, leaving the interviewer with more evidence than before. (I started typing to explain the technique but started explaining the nuances and eventually ended up writing something that resembled a published scholarly article, so if you’re interested you can find out more online lol)
@@juderocks5 I didn't know it by name but I did know about it, I watch a lot of JCS and other channels that cover interrogations. Glad to hear my knowledge-by-osmosis didn't end up being nonsense!
Heck, I'm pretty sure I've used the word "gobble" a fraction of times that Karl said it in this video. This is my first time typing "gobblegum", which is a word that I've never said or typed before.
idk..... that whole mechanic should have been called "Gobble Cum"............. . EX "i like to Gobble activision micro-transaction cum.... to get a pay-to-win advantage...because im a little cum goblin"
One small thing When you load into a zombie game solo, you play as one of 4 characters. Rarely does this matter in speed runs but in shadows of evil you must get a certain character, Nero, because he can let you perform a certain step (upgraded swords) much faster then every other character. Which means runs must get Nero and reign drops in order to get past round 1, and it’s why soe takes a lot of luck.
The other maps are popular too but this one is a more consistent one. Keep in mind this is a variation of SOE speed run, this is meant to be done with 4 players in normal gameplay.
At this point why not just do what the bioshock infinite runners did and just tweak the settings so you always get Nero and perfect order gobblegums? Doesn't feel like much of a skill competition when you're only allowed to compete 1/100 times. Imagine if we had a sprint but you can only accept times if the guy successfully calls 10 coin flips in a row or something. At that point is it really a speed competition or just who averages out to be luckier because that means by default they get more practice and attempts?
Really glad to help shine light on this whole thing, appreciate you taking the time to learn and understand fully about our speedrun and helping expose terrible people
Mate terrible is a strong word, the guy just sounds like a nerd who wanted some form of attention. Glad he's gone but its not like he's apart of ISIS or something lmao. Anyway good runs mate. (Excited for your only fans!)
@@Kryptixit isn't too strong word at all. Terrible isn't as black and white as you make it out. There are variations of terrible, some better and worse than others. It is terrible to get to know and interact with a community under false pretenses. It is terrible to lie about a world record.
Why doesn't the community use mods that make the wave spawns and first gum fixed as a standard? It feels to me like leaving it random and therefore having to reset 90% of runs adds nothing to the actual skill of speedrunning. But I could also just completely not understand it, as I am not a speedrunner and dislike games with RNG based gameplay.
funniest part about his statement is that it's not even true because there was no innovation to his cheating, like bruh splicing and cheat mods are speedrun cheating 101 everyone is already looking for it because they already know they happen
Long-con cheating has got to be the most pathetic type of cheating there is. It's not a spur of the moment thing you do out of frustration. This guy came into the community wanting to cheat from the start.
it makes me feel kinda bad for him, just because, what kind of headspace does someone have to be in to dedicate that much time and effort to cheating in a video game?
@@Chaotic_evil_duck he was very good at the game he just set the odds to his favor. Speedruning when rng is such a heavy factor is the worst type. I kinda understand this guy. I wish such mods were legal for Speedruns
"If i cheated, I wouldn't have made that mistake" is such a bad defense omg. "You can't say i cheated because I'm so good at cheating you wouldn't be able to notice"
Indeed, but in spite of that I use it all the time, when people accuse me of dumb shit. It sounds much better in your head, when you are the one using it...
y'know whats kind of crazy, we only hear the stories of the people who were caught, it makes you think, especially in cases like these where they would've gotten away with it if it wasn't for one mistake, makes you think how many people who are hailed as legends in their respective game cheated and just sit at the top with the most squeak clean cheated runs of all time, like all the perfect heist in crime movies
There was that Mario 64 speedrunner who had a cheated WR for like a decade and only got caught because he was gloating about it on a random UA-cam comment and someone decided to look into it. One of the best cases of schadenfreude I've seen
@@spode2917 the first time I heard the story was in a video by charliebrown64. if you search super Mario 64 speedrun cheater it should be one of the first results. The first story in the mini documentary is the one you’re looking for
@@spode2917 There's no specific video (any video talking about spliced SM64 runs will mention him), but on one of the older 16 star WRs, a guy named 'holeymoley' commented that he held the 16 star record for years. So someone went back and looked at his old runs and figured out they were spliced thanks to modern editing software. If holeymoley didn't gloat, *no one would've known*. It's honestly a small blip in the overall SM64 WR continuity, but its still funny.
How many years did Silly Bitchell get to claim himself the King of Kong (or whatever)? The desperate gaslighting attempt is so funny. "You don't think I would've noticed that? You don't think I wouldn't really gone through that and looked at my time?" Exactly the same strat I used to implement with my parents aged 10
Speaking of speed runs. Thanks to you, Karl, and your channel, I got curious and started playing Doom. I love it. I'm not too bad, but I'll never be a speed runner (or deluded enough to fake a speed run).
Yeah, it's just time consuming as hell, but it's an endurance marathon more than a skilled sprint. Which makes it weirder since this dude still went and invested months of his time into this con. If he had played legit he might have actually made it to the top 10 with how much he dedicated to the run
@@joaogomes9405 Yeah it's very interesting to me that if he was only manipulating his rng, that means he does potentially have the skillset needed to actually perform the run legitimately. You see other cheaters who do this, but the fact this guy also dedicated 6 months to planning out/slowly improving his time to make it seem "legitimate" is so odd. You're right, if he played those 6 months legitimately he might not have gotten a WR but he definitely had a chance to become very respected in the category. Normally I feel like you'd manipulate rng because you didn't want to grind out resets but this guy seems to have been grinding pretty hard anyway. Shame.
@@intendedtendenciesGiven that you need perfect RNG to do a world record, I kind of feel that the moderators should just allow everyone to mod in perfect RNG, because then it just comes down to the skill of the player and they don't waste so much time. Has *anyone* Karl covered in one of these videos been caught cheating and then gone "Well damn, you got me"? It's so funny how none of them admit it at first no matter how concrete the evidence is. Most of the time they don't even fully cave later, it's always "Nah only that run was cheated", and then *eventually* "Nevermind, all of them were cheated."
There actually was kinda one, dream playing Minecraft did eventually fully admit all his runs was not legit, but it was based on accidentally not removing mods on his game he had for fan streaming. So he admitted but i think it was a legit "oops" and he wasn't trying to cheat and it seems Karl came to that conclusion
@@ItsDangerousGoAlonehe literally hired an astrophysicist to put out a paper showing how his run could statistically be possible. and even then, he didn’t fully admit to cheating
@@ItsDangerousGoAlone Dream is the worst example you could've given. He had lied about not cheating for a long time only to finally be like "whoops, it seems that I _accidentally_ forgot to turn off this very specific mod that gives you better RNG during my runs".
The funny thing is if they all agreeded it would be interesting if they are did runs with the mod that allows the correct bug spawn and gum order. Would save huge amounts of time for everyone but runs would still need skill.
This is the one point I gotta agree on with the cheater. A lot of speedrun communities specifically mod out RNG like that because there's literally no skill in it and it's just a waste of time having to reset runs because of it. Imo his mod should be integrated into the infinite gobblegum mod and that's that. Splicing is bad tho, none of that.
yea, i was wondering about that. like if everyone had the same 'luck' mod then it would just put everyone on equal footing and then only skill determined the runs, right? i mean, i dunno but it was just on my mind the whole time. also side note but even if that wouldnt be allowed, it would be hilarious if there was a speedrunning equivalent of like, drugged up olympics where mods and cheats ARE allowed for this specific category and the cheaters all compete against each other for the fastest possible (or impossible) time
I was pretty good friends with this guy, it made me really sad when i learned he cheated, he'd send me all of his "pb's" and i would be so proud when he would progress, really makes me sad to see the lengths that people would go for clout

Okay, we've seen cheaters writing eloquent passive-aggressive rebuttals, we've seen cheaters suing everyone who accuses them of cheating, but cheaters acting like they're doing community a favor is something new. White hat hackers are supposed to come clean immediately, not after they are caught.
i really do appreciate the "we all know that red cars go faster" joke. i love me some warhammer references and i got a chuckle out of it because i have a red mustang and i have stated several times that same joke that "i only bought it because its red and red means its faster". as always though thank you karl jobst for reporting on these cheaters and for helping to try and keep communities honest. your videos have become the highlight of my day and im always excited to see a video pop up into the feed.
So cool that Karl does this, but also has a community that generally doesn’t go out of their way to harass the cheaters. It’s important people know that stuff like this happens and how to identify it
At the end of the day this is just our hobby. No one deserves to get lynched for cheating in a video game. The exception to that rule is when they cheat for prize money or bounties. That's not tolerable.
Prawly sounds young in that voice clip. He probably thought he was being cool by getting the world record but isn’t mature enough to understand how impactful cheating is.
most speedrunners are young (A) because young reflexes help a ton and (B) not needing to work to pay rent and put food on the table helps a ton. Other than of course Billy Mitchell who is the GOAT no matter how old he gets

For clarity for those that don’t know the gobblegums shown in the match start screen are: Reign drop-spawns every type of power-up in the game, nuclear winter-spawns a nuke power-up which kills all spawned enemies on the map and heavily damages boss enemies (no effect during boss fights), wall power-which turns the gun you buy after getting it into its pack-a-punched version (its upgraded basically), perkaholic-every zombies player favourite gobblegum, this rare jewel grants the player all perks on the map, and finally anywhere but here, this is a common gobblegum, meaning every player has access to it after playing a while, it randomly teleports you to a random spot on the map after activating it, have I believe 2 activations.
Important side note, Anywhere But Here is one of the two-or-maybe-three viable Gobblegums you get in the base game (i.e. the "free" gums). All the other useful gums - Perkaholic, Reign Drops, etc. - are earned through the loot drop system, which requires either a TON of grinding, dropping potentially HUNDREDS of dollars in microtransactions, or just flat-out modding the game.

it truly makes me wonder what people get out of cheating like this. speedrunning is such a hobby of passion and personal accomplishment. it's like cheating at knitting by buying a sweater
So... 20% of runs make it past the first gobblegum, then, 50% of those make it past wave 5. That alone means that 10% of runs only make it through based on luck alone, not even counting all the optimal movements you need to make to get through the level. Thats kinda crazy imo.
It's worth acknowledging that this is only one category, and there are category splits for Mega Gobblegum (which is this category), Classic Gobblegum Only (which uses a selection of gumballs not locked behind microtransactions) and No Gobblegum (which avoids the machine entirely). So this is just one category and if you tire of it you can always just... Play a different category :P
3:13 "Personally, I like to make my car red because everyone knows that red cars go faster." Oh lord, Karl is tapping into the WAAAGH! Everyone in that game in done for.
It’s honestly rather impressive how well thought this scheme was. The forethought to actually “ struggle” with rng and “ improve” over time. Glad they got caught, otherwise this could have been a real crappy way for the next in line to lose WR
Hah... I don't know how to say this, but my first thought is "some people are easily impressed". Isn't this what you'd expect? I figure many of our world records in a lot of games were people who are cheating who haven't been caught yet, and maybe never can be caught, because they were as well-thought out as this, and better executed. This feels like a bare minimum for a WR cheat.
Honestly if I had to guess it was a mix of that and him just genuinely just getting better at the game. It's not like god RNG really makes the egg a gimme
imagine a world where everyone gets the same balls in the same order and people can fight over WRs with just skill and without resetting 2000 times a day
That’s what I don’t get. The mod for free gums is ok, but mod for perfect rng is not? Why not? Why make speedrunners waste time, because they were unlucky?

Thank you for shining a spotlight on this. I had no idea COD had a zombie mode speedrun community. Learn new things every day. Alas there is a cheater in this vid, but still I learned about a cool thing.
Excellent analysis! Was a big deal when it happened, you really nailed the specifics of what he did wrong. Just wish we were better equipped to detect splicing in runs.
It's likely there would be detectable encoding artifacts. If the videos are losslessly stitched together, it would be obvious in the file. If the video got re-encoded, that should be detectable as well (as every re-encoding reduces the quality a bit). I'm not an expert, but it seems very likely someone could detect a splice from analyzing the pixels.

I tried speedrunning bo3 origins a few years back and man the amount of skill and luck needed is insane, props to the runners like freckleston and the likes
since he was confronted with evidence we skipped the condescending denial stage and went into the pleading denial stage that all cheaters go through. that's why some people feel he's more sincere, because he skipped a step. if they confronted him without showing him the evidence first he would have been very condescending and confrontational since that's the first step that literally all disgusting cheating filth go through when caught.

Thanks to all speedrunners, even the cheaters, because without them I wouldn't have understood how cheating was possible
The thing with speedrunning is that you don't need to gear for world records, you can approach it casually and just aim for your own best times for the fun of it.
This may be the only channel where I ALWAYS watch videos 100% till the very end, I'm a gamer but no real interest in speedruns, great content congrats!
Yeah, I get why people like running games with rng, especially when it's something like Minecraft where a lot of the skill comes from adapting to the rng, but I'd personally probably run a lot more games if I had the option to do rng-less runs. So far the only game I've seriously run is almost entirely rng empty, and I think I'd go insane if it weren't
Man that defense, what an impenetrable wall. I woulda been like "Woah, thats wild" Edit: "You think I wouldn't catch that?" Impenetrable defense! The ultimate defensive ability

I literally sat down, thought to myself "Haven't heard much about "Zombies" in a while, Click over to YT, and here you are serving up 20-min-fresh zombie content. Fantastic!
Man. I was hoping cheating was gone from the zombies community, and all that would be left was Syndicate's round 115 game to look back and laugh at. But it is nice to see Karl talking about one of my favorite games of all time, albeit in a negative light
Bro the zombies community has been full of cheating since its inception. I don't think it will ever escape. Plenty of current WR holders have been caught before during attempts. It is just the nature of the people who play.
I remember randomly clicking on frecklestons stream couple weeks ago when they were discussing it, didnt catch all of it so it didnt made much sense, its nice to hear the full story now
So genuine question here: this guy was actually amazing at the game and the only thing he cheated was the RNG. If every runner resets until they get that RNG, is it so terrible? I mean, why isn't it more common practice to force RNG in these games where basically 90% of your tries are reset partway through at no fault of your own? It seems like a waste of time. Kinda like playing Jenga but someone kicks the table every turn. It's not a measure of skill. It's just a measure of endurance. I'm not saying we should take this particular run as valid. There are certain rules in place and he violated them. I'm talking about speedrunning in general.
Wait hold on... bubblegum luck is a HUGE cause of resets. So they use a mod to get unlimited bubblegum tries. Why not just use a mod to get the bubblegum luck they want? Why would they as a community use a mod, but still decide to make each run depend on 5 coin flips?
I'm not a speedrunner, but part of me thinks that RNG is a bullshit mechanic when it comes to speedrunning, it's luck of the draw. I think speedrunning should be a sheer display of skill and maybe it should be allowed for players to manipulate RNG so that everyone has a chance to be the most skillful, rather than wasting their lives trying to get lucky. I know a lot of people will disagree with that but that's just my two cents.
this really depends on the game, there are plenty of games that have basically 0 rng and are purely skill based and then there are runs like these with low chances, and everything in between, some games even have perfect rng manipulation that can be pulled off with human input, ultimately no game has the same level of rng so there can't really be a "universal" clause for it aside from allowing external software, which some speedrun communities allow, bioshock infinite for example has an equipment drop needed for optimal gameplay, so speedrunners use a mod that guarantees it
Especially when you consider they already allow mods for unlimited Gobblegum. Sounds like all the kid did was make it an actual test of skill and not luck.
Im glad his reaction is recorded live cause if he had had time to think about it it would've been easy (and believable IMO) to say he manually changed a split on his Sum Of Best that he had on another set of splits. I personally would belive it cause i used to do it all the time if i noticed i was getting fake golds due to early splitting or whatever. But its something you would absolutely remember if it happened right before getting a WR
Somehow, all these people with very weird discrepancies just have "memory problems" all of the sudden. I have confronted two cheaters which I had evidence of their lying; once I caught them, they started with all of the "memory problems". One of them claimed to have done something absolutely impossible to do, that nobody in the community managed to find a way around in several years of the game being released, one which has very active TASers and runners. And yet, somehow, this person claimed to have kept it a secret, and "not recalling" how they did the trick. I think it would be fascinating to dive into the minds of these people and try to understand all of their thought processes. Your videos have really gotten me curious on the topic. Though someone that is willing to admit that must be really rare to find.

11:55 dude that silence hits so hard. You can feel his mind just being melted down in a desperate attempt to find a solution
One small thing
When you load into a zombie game solo, you play as one of 4 characters.
Yep you have to hit a 1 in 4 and a 1 in 5 consecutively before you can even start, it’s certainly a nuisance.
so why is this the most popular speedrunning map if there's so much useless rng
@@HarrDarr because the Easter egg is cool, the map is the only free one, and most of the other maps have a lot of rng too, just later on.

Whats crazy is he cheated in the most accessible catagory. The shadows EE is super easy to learn and do.
Yeah, it's just time consuming as hell, but it's an endurance marathon more than a skilled sprint. Which makes it weirder since this dude still went and invested months of his time into this con. If he had played legit he might have actually made it to the top 10 with how much he dedicated to the run
Yep the only hard thing is the rng but that’s automatic
I could be misremembering, but I think the guy who cheated during GDQ had a whole manifesto ready when he was confronted.
There actually was kinda one, dream playing Minecraft did eventually fully admit all his runs was not legit, but it was based on accidentally not removing mods on his game he had for fan streaming. @@ItsDangerousGoAlone Difference is that was after having already denied it for a long time.
@@ItsDangerousGoAlonehe literally hired an astrophysicist to put out a paper showing how his run could statistically be possible. and even then, he didn’t fully admit to cheating

I wonder if they even enjoy it. I'd be so ashamed and paranoid that i wouldn't even like compliments about it, even if i was never caught.
So... 20% of runs make it past the first gobblegum, then, 50% of those make it past wave 5. That alone means that 10% of runs only make it through based on luck alone, not even counting all the optimal movements you need to make to get through the level. Thats kinda crazy imo.
I don't know how people speedrun games with that level of RNG honestly. It would be soul crushing.
But the 20% is so early on that you can still get a lot of runs in without and not be demoralized

This is crazy to see this featured here, it's sad what happened as he was trusted in the community and many were happy for him (after getting WR) but it turned out he cheated. Thanks for covering this Karl, great video!
6:35-7:35 Karl gets the “saying the phrase “gobble-gum”” speedrun WR
Listening to you say gobblegum several times make me giggle for some reason lol amazing video as always. Also, i love the fact that you cover small niches as well as the big ones. A lot of these speedrunners are so talented but will never get much recognition because the game they play isn't popular.
Aaaaaahhhhh listening to people try to weasel out of accountability is like my kryptonite, just by hearing it I _feel_ some of their shame - even when they don't seem to be feeling it themselves. I can't take it! I wish I could explain to these cheaters that it's never worth it, and rest easy knowing that they weren't out there messing everything up with their troubles.
I hope you have a mature partner in life because that sounds like a personality quirk that can easily be taken advantage of.
@@Ortorin maybe so, but it is cringe to hear.
I think theres a term for this feeling, its a psychological quirk. I think its common among people with both high empathy and social anxiety.
@@ry_an. How so? Its a trait common among people with high empathy and social anxiety. I don't see what's cringe about that.
@@peppermintgal4302 what, trying to weasel yourself out of accountability like a rodent? Thats always cringe to hear
Thank you for shining a spotlight on this. I had no idea COD had a zombie mode speedrun community. Learn new things every day. Alas there is a cheater in this vid, but still I learned about a cool thing.
I honestly never expected to see Karl covering CoD Zombies, great coverage
Karl will never run out of UA-cam content, there are so many cheaters, so much stupidity he can talk about it forever
Wow...9 hours a day faking speed runs to impress people on the internet. Imagine what he COULD have done with that time.
These new games also need demos. I mean, it was more than possible in 1993...
@@waarschijn the issue is the lack of resources online for learning. And even then it's warned that the results can't be conclusive. If you have any information or tips on how to get started I'd love to know!
@@zatozatoichi7920 what do you mean by demos?
this just makes me sad man, zombies is something I know well and have been playing for about a decade now. I’m not a speedrunner myself, as I’m not nearly dedicated or skilled enough to be one, but being in the community for so long I know how much work goes into legitimate runs, and it makes me sad seeing that work undermined by cheaters
It's just bo3, they're not part of the community, we don't count them. It's just the 12 year olds
@@TheTicassShowlol what have you accomplished?
@@pjsq a couple records on bo2, used to have a 1000 Shi no waw speedrun, Pb pb on asc bo1 is 110 crash, pb on Shi no waw is 2062 crash, Used to have a coop wr with the WR holder for Buried bo2 (Vhanno). What have you accomplished ?
Work undermined? More like luck undermined with how heavily reliant it is on RNG.
@@melancholyentertainment I’m aware it’s heavily reliant on RNG, but the runners still have to put in an incredible amount of time and effort. Yes, a world record run is quite reliant on good RNG, but as an example I could get the best RNG possible on the map I’m most confident on, and still never even come close to world record. that’s all my point was
I know very little about spreed running I admire the dedication players have to achieve such times and it’s a subject I’ve learned about exclusively via Karl’s videos. Naturally the algorithm throws up other content creators now who deal with this subject and everyone of them I’ve watched or follow all have mad love for Karl which is really nice and it shows to me that the cheats are not the only thing of note about the community it’s the respect you all have for each other.
The defense of "Do you think I'd have left this in if i cheated" feels so much like the Dunning Kruger effect. And him just trying to bluff his way through the situation.
as much as it is a bad thing to have happened, i do always love watching these "Cheater finally caught" vids, sorta satisfying despite me never playing half the games and definitely none of them competitively/in speedrunning lmao
It's human drama. Magnetic.
I am addicted to your content karl IT IS 4 IN THE MORNING ive been up all night watchin yo vids bruh
I’m going through a rough time in my life rn but your content manages to put a smile on my face when I see that notification, you never fail to impress on how you can make a good, simple and informative video interesting and full of your unique humor. Keep up the great work Karl ❤
Hopefully whatever is going on in your life gets better
Hope things get better for you
These comments are so wierd to me. Every youtuber gets these "you got me through a rough time" comments. I first noticed them in Jordan Peterson comment sections, but they made sense since he's a bit of a "self-help" guru. But now I see them on random entertainment videos. No chance a random youtube game journalist gets you through a rough time. At most, he helped you forget about your troubles for 15 minutes every week or two.
agreed@@Dee-nonamnamrson8718
@@Dee-nonamnamrson8718that’s a pretty silly take. Entertainment UA-camrs can collectively serve as an effective distraction from the sucky parts of life that someone may be experiencing in the moment. Even only 10-15 minutes from a few different UA-camrs every week or so can make a huge difference. It makes just as much sense that someone finds solace in entertainment as in a self help video
I tried speedrunning bo3 origins a few years back and man the amount of skill and luck needed is insane, props to the runners like freckleston and the likes
I cannot take this seriously when I keep hearing the word gobblegum so often
since he was confronted with evidence we skipped the condescending denial stage and went into the pleading denial stage that all cheaters go through. that's why some people feel he's more sincere, because he skipped a step. if they confronted him without showing him the evidence first he would have been very condescending and confrontational since that's the first step that literally all disgusting cheating filth go through when caught.
"I was lifting boulders with my wife's son how could I have cheated"
"disgusting cheating filth" loool it's a video game buddy
@cameronmason4452 Even sadder he's cheating at a solo video game "Buddy" 😂😂
I have no intention of being a speedrunner (especially at my age and point in my life), but Karl's channel and content got interested in watching speedruns and appreciating the work and dedication needed to do them.
Thanks to all speedrunners, even the cheaters, because without them I wouldn't have understood how cheating was possible
If you're into that you could try Wirtual too. He does trackmania content and also doc style stuff for cheaters of TM as well.
Same with SummoningSalt
The thing with speedrunning is that you don't need to gear for world records, you can approach it casually and just aim for your own best times for the fun of it.
Poor kid imagine having a dad who spends his free time watching speedrun videos
@ezaf5989 way to assume I spend my free time watching speed run videos all the time. Did daddy walk out on you ?
Maybe it’s just me, but I would never be able to cheat like this. I’d feel way too guilty knowing that I really didn’t earn my speedrun.
You a good gamer, proud of you bro, cheating ain't the way to go, there is no pride gained in it, only vanity and that isn't an modest path.
@@FuuzBeeenyappin
Dude i would be guilty if someone asked me if i cheated even if i did or not.
It's called a conscience. It's rare
Cheating to win is just cheating yourself. That's the way I've always seen it. I guess some people are ego driven
It's always so satisfying when cheaters are caught but the confessions always sound the same.

Good for us, bad for the cheaters!!
Happy to see you cover bo3 zombies runs in general. The zombies community is quite the anomaly when it comes to speedrunning
Imo, in categories that heavily rely on RNG, there should be a category that allows mods to removes that RNG for people who want to run it
Yeah, I get why people like running games with rng, especially when it's something like Minecraft where a lot of the skill comes from adapting to the rng, but I'd personally probably run a lot more games if I had the option to do rng-less runs. So far the only game I've seriously run is almost entirely rng empty, and I think I'd go insane if it weren't
Man that defense, what an impenetrable wall. I woulda been like "Woah, thats wild"
Edit: "You think I wouldn't catch that?" Impenetrable defense! The ultimate defensive ability
Man should be a lawyer with defense like that
I used to speed run R50 solo and the EE with my friend on MOTD its a blast to the past to see Karl talking about zombies speedrunning.
Karl Jobst talking about Black Ops 3 zombies is my Christmas
I remember hearing about him in 2016, can't believe he finally got caught. Fly high mate
For those not familiar with bo3 speed running, Freckleston is the goat! Guy is incredibly talented at most of the maps, and pops up with new WRs left and right. Steve also fantastic, defo go check them out

Aye in this case, hate the gamer not the game :)

Never in a million years did I think you would talk about black ops 3 zombies😂. Still gonna be an amazing video regardless
I didn’t even know you could speedrun in black ops zombie??
-what the objects?
-first to finish the Easter Egg??
Ahhh, we love watching some Black Ops III zombies stuff. Takes me back when Lex, Pat, and the Vanoss Crew were my boys.
Can't help but think of Lui Calibre asking if they _really_ have to kill the gummy bears.
cannot believe this.. been watching SOE speed runs for years
"If I wanted to do that, I could've done it much better"
damn, it's insane how often liars use that defense
Wait hold on... bubblegum luck is a HUGE cause of resets. So they use a mod to get unlimited bubblegum tries.
Why not just use a mod to get the bubblegum luck they want? Why would they as a community use a mod, but still decide to make each run depend on 5 coin flips?
It’s even more ridiculous when you realize they already use mod for unlimited gums. Why is that ok, and RNG removal mod not?
My favorite is the classic, if I did do it, I wouldn't have made any obvious mistakes. So if there's an obvious mistake, thats proof I didnt do it. 😂 Gtfoh with that double talk.
