Times when a great story of brotherly love could carry a movie and not big explosions and special effects .Hollywood needs to go back to these days.I think tom cruise deserved an Oscar for this I thought he was great.
One of the best american movie of the '80. Perfect scene here: - Flying Lambo over smog city (metaphor of human arrogance) - Tom Cruise's "dick" mirrored over the Lamborghini shield at 0:30 (big presentation of the character in one shot) - Contrast between Tom's business suit and workers helmets (class division) - Tom go away with the most cheap and old Ferrari hidden by an array of new fashionable supercars. -Perfect sincro with soundtrack and shots
8 Academy Award nominations: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Score.
The original "SONG" (recording) is by the Dixie Cups of New Orleans, the CHANT "Iko, Iko" was sung by mardi gras "indians" on mardi gras day! I'm old enough to remember when ALL of these things happened as i'm a New Orleans native and used to sing this along with neighborhood buddies on the corners just hanging out at night. I remember Aaron Neville rehearsing in a house across the street from my church when he just started out in music (100 block of Milaudon St. uptown).
The "original" song Iko Iko is not by the Dixie cups, it's by the Mardi Gras Indians in New Orleans. It is tough work trying to really get at an original, buddy. Just appreciate what you hear.
What does "better" mean when it comes to "originals" and "covered" songs? "Covered" songs and music may SOUND better to different listeners (it's all subjective) but "better" isn't the operative word to use because of the reason i've stated (i would think). Iko, iko has been covered by many people, it's difficult to say which song is "better" than another, btw, as a youngster, me and some of my neighborhood buddies would hang on the corner in N.O. and sing songs like iko iko and other MG songs.
The "original" song Iko Iko is by the Dixie cups from New Orleans, not the Belle stars. The Belle stars covered the original song, research first before you draw conclusions (google would help) - A New Orleanian.
The Countach is such iconic '80s car, which is funny, because they really were garbage. Yes, they were fast and cool looking, but truly sucked in every other way.
This opening always gives me chills. Also; When I first saw this at 10 I thought I was in for a futuristic 80’s movie with flying cars
me tooo! :D :D
one of the best movie intros ever seen in the history of cinema..
Such an insane beginning to a movie. World class.

Well, there's Brokeback Mountain.. No explosions anywhere, lots of brotherly love though.
Or worrying about making a certain character this color or that gender lol

Ah no lol
Nice. I'm in New Orleans now, but only for a couple years now. It's cool to hear your little slice of the city's history!
classic movie love it.
Does anyone agree this is the song to play when unloading something brand new off a big transport boat?
If it's Lambos. Not if it's a shipping container full of flip flops.
Also when you are climbing mountains but you happen to slip. . .
Great great movie
Back when movies were good
