- "It's not what you do it's how you do it, be anything you want to be"! Who remembers the amazing opening to the classic 1981 film "The Cannonball Run"?! The film was release on this date 39 years ago. Ray's song "Cannonball" plays during the famous Lamborghini chase that kicks off the film!

Probably one is the best beginnings to a movie ever!!!
Whoever was behind the wheel of the Lamborghini, surely did a stellar job...
There is no probably about this 😳
“BALL!”
Probably!? Lol

AWESOME - I'm 51 yrs old now, when I was a kid this and Gumball Rally was just a dream...Brilliant!!
THE most Iconic car of ALL TIME !! I had at least 3 posters of one on my wall at ALL times as a kid.
YOU TOO?!?! :D Daaamn nice! The rest in my room was Samantha Foxx... ;)

I was a kid watching TV one night in the early 80s and this came on. That opening was the coolest thing I'd ever seen.
Same but in early 90s
When I was a kid in '82 or so this was MIND BLOWING. Along with Convoy and Smokey And The Bandit.
It's 2020 and this intro / film is still mind blowing.
*Hands you a Coors*

I was 10 years old when I saw this film. VCR's was so expensive back then. Mom would rent a very every 2 weeks and let me rent 4 movies. This was my favorite choice. Must have watched it 10 times before we had to return it. It was so cool to a 10 yr old. Super cool cars, good looking ladies and so funny. Great movies and still own it on vhs and dvd. Yes, I have a vcr. Maybe old school, but I'm still a classic kinda guy. Have my original atari and Nintendo to.
Holy cow, that cast is absolutely stacked.
The note out of that lambo still sounds as good today as it did 40 years ago - beautiful
2:16 to 2:23 is rhe only time the Lamborghini engine sound is used. The rest is a Ferrari
@@markperry2827 That's a myth. I seent an interview with Hal Needham some years back and he addressed that rumor and said it was all the Lambo but it had 12 damn exhaust pipes on it.
Take it !
So choose..a Tesla or a Lamborghini....I know what I would take!

I will never turn down an opportunity to watch this movie for the umpteenth time. It will always make me happy... Burt, Dom, Dean, Sammy and Co. all in their glorious prime
ah yes to be born in the early 70's. has there ever been a better time to be young?
This motion picture will stand the test of time because of all the actors and it was made to be fun.
They do not make them like this anymore! Too bad!
According to Burt Reynolds in an interview about the movie. He said everyone was just having fun the entire time during filming.
It will stand the test of time because of the lunatics (and I use this in the BEST use of the term) that it was based on.
There are so many scenes that actually happened.
@@curtishalcomb3249 yes you can tell from the long bloopers display that everyone was having a good time and getting along well.
Wow, I'm an old man now. Where did those 39 years go so quickly? I do miss those many great actors that have left us. That Lambo will never go out of style! Thank you for posting this video!

Damn, I forgot Ray did this. One of my favorite movies! Hot cars, hot women, and great comedy. Song was perfect too!
You don't watch many movies I see
And based on a real event, the organiser of which (Brock Yates) features in the movie as....the event organiser. In reality, he actually DID drive a Dodge Van made to look like an ambulance, along with his wife in the back as the patient for when they got pulled over by the cops (which actually happened). They were a DNF though sadly, arriving at the finishing point on a flat bed truck having suffered a transmission failure (also referenced in the movie).
When movies were entertainment. Unlike modern agenda driven trash.
Can't make a movie like this nowadays.
fake it ..!

The sunrise, the purr of the engine, the music. One word , goosebumps!
I think you may mean the road of the engine. A Lamborghini is not a car that purrs. You are meant hear it and foot to the floor you would from a mile away
I would dare gamble, that this Lambo is the loudest internal combstion engine car in movie history
Mellow Yellow SUN ☀️ Always.
The cast in this movie was incredible, and they were told that the movie would not amount to much by critics. The cast told them that they did not care as they were having a ball making it. That is dedication.
One of the best openings but one of the best movies. You will never see an all star cast Luke this one.

Guess you didn't think that one out, huh?
If I see a 70s Ferrari it looks 70s, but a Lamborghini still looks like tomorrow.
Yes indeed
A Lamborghini Countach is the best looking car ever made.
The Countach was really original. But 365 GT4 BB was a beautiful piece of art too.
Still looks like an 80's hot wheel.
Ray Stevens is one of the greatest talents of ALL time.
He's got a few mint songs u forget classy muso and 84 hard to believe. Getting old really suxs who would have said or thought at the time no way flawless gosh scary yikes the 80s are coming half way thru it's 40s u feel it now
Been listening to Ray Stevens since "Ahab the Arab". I love his music and satire.
There's something in this movie i keep coming back. Beautiful memories
Damn! I'm 54 and have to say.... The Lamborghini here with the duel wings is the most beautiful looking car ever made! Might not be as fast as today's Challenger's or exotic supercars but man that car is beautiful!...
Eve n that is questionable. I would like to bet that after the customisation it would nearly top the 200mph. An uncustomised early 80's Countach could easily top the 170mph, changing the pipes would up the power and thats without any engine mods
@@philwatson6659HR rated tires are only good up to 178 MPH. If you want to go faster then that, you need R rated tires, and they are 10x the price and last 1/3 as long.
@@VroodenTheGreat When you can afford a car like that cost, is not a concern, neither is how long the tires will last. Out in AZ and TX, its easy to run 200mph+ speeds with no traffic at all.
This movie is NOTHING without this incredible song.
This scene is really the only one worth watching in the movie imo. These movies were not what they should have been imo. Would have been so much better if most of the racers had exotic cars.
No CGI, straight action
The design of the Countach was from a different planet. It was beyond a car. It was a design icon.
Yes and the year 2024 it still turns heads
Did you notice how many of the stars in this movie are gone? 😢
Jackie Chan has died several times on Facebook
Sadly, yes.
@@videoshomepage Ya, but like Chuck Norris he keeps coming back.
Chuck Norris can't die, because death is too scared after he had a near-chuck-norris experience

I was 9 years old.. I had just sat down with my popcorn in my hand and my drink in the other, the movie started on the big screen and it was quiet in the theatre... thats until the movie started, just like on this UA-cam video..Ill never forget the sound from that lambo in that theatre, was soo loud and just wow!!!! 1981!!! RE-START THE VIDEO and CRANK IT UP
This was THE summer blockbuster of 1981 ! What a great feel good movie. Just plain fun.
I loved the anarchist vibe of it.
Yup.😊
First movie I remember was gumball rally then canonball run ,I prefer canon first then gumball
Watched it at the movies and if you were smart you stayed and watched the outtakes at the very end.
That's a bold statement, considering it had "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Escape from New York" and "The Road Warrior" to compete against.... lol
It's a good song but that Lamborghini V12 just howling is one of the best noises ever. I could listen to that all day!
As said elsewhere only a Lambo sounds like a Lambo
The Lambo V12 the best sounding European, Outright best sound a floorboarded Chevrolet 350 V8 as found in the 'Vette ZR1 another automotive legend
Mid engining the Corvette took away the magic of it, it became an American Ferarri rip off. A massive uncultured V8 in the front, rear wheel drive with vey few driver aids like traction control attached and made of fibreglass made it light. So with the older corvettes it really was a case of FLOOR THE GAS AND HANG ON TO YOUR ASS.
Of course, that’s not actually the sound of the Lambo’s engine, but a Ferrari 365 from 1972! The Lambo didn’t have the deep growl they wanted, so they dubbed it.
The owner of the actual car told that it is all Lambo sound.. they did dub it some places but with its own sound from 12 straight pipes. You cannot record the engine sound from a helikopter, so thats why they had to do i like that in the scenes from the distance.
This movie was loaded with stars
Thats right
Cannonball run 2 was stacked even more!!
V12 engine Note and the fancy front spoiler. Open road bliss.❤
I remember seeing this at the time being a car nut anyway and thinking - no way that thing's got a spoiler on the front!! Then learning much later it was actually a bumper they HAD to install for the US market.. crazy!
No it was a spoiler. Believe me my father was from Italy
Fantastic opening to a film that I remember fondly when I was growing up. Shocking that the main ensemble cast of Burt Reynolds, Roger Moore, Farrah Fawcett, Dom Deluise, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior and Jack Elam are no longer with us.
Remember my dad renting this on VHS and we were just blown away.
I'm not a huge fan of Italian supercars, but you can't help but enjoy the howl of the V12 in that Lamborghini Countach.
One of the best films ever. Seriously, what a cast!!!! How good were the 80’s btw? Take me back, please ❤
They dont make movies with this ‘feel’ anymore. Awesome!
They don’t make movies that are pure fun anymore.
The Countach is a legend. Beautifully proportioned in every way, looks like it’s moving even when it’s standing still.
Watching that brings back memories
The sound of that engine gets me every time.
1:23 - That's Railroad Pass, just out of Las Vegas, on the way to Boulder. Now that I know that, I recognize every stretch of road they used to film this scene.
Unfortunately the more I’ve watched this and recognize the locations, the more I realize the continuity errors and horrible editing. They literally used the same shot twice from a different camera angle, watch for the RV that shows up twice in the exact same spot.
You should see it out there now.
In the early 90s this Movie was show in the German TV. I saw it 20 times 👍👍 Now I'm 44 years old and would see it again and again 😅
The cannon ball run movies ...where my love of tbe Lamborghini countach began, love to hear that big. V 12 sing
The actual Lambo used is still on the road. There is an interesting documentary on here about it being brought and having an extensive restoration project on it. Worth a watch!
Driving from sydney back to gold coast, remembered this song.
Told my wife and daughter about it as they never heard it ,my wife laughing as she could see I was enjoying this song while driving.
Classic movie and song👊👍
Gave away my copy of this dvd but couldn't be without this film in my collection so bought another copy,my all time favourite film just because its pure fun,no egos, just hollywood stars having a blast, hope they never attempt a remake
Actually, in a way they have. A movie called "Speed Zone" came out in the early 90's. I read back then that it was a "loose" remake. It was called The Cannonball Run III" in other countries. Only the the actor who plays the Shiek is in the movie, but for a short scene only.
This is the whole movie!!!
I was 15 years old. Still remember the theater lights dimming and this opening having everyone stunned. So Cool...

OMG it's Countach, please leave now.
Probably best left as a fantasy - I hear the quality control makes 1st gen Tesla's look like mechanic-driven Lexus
The cars now are so much more powerful. The Countach had about 450 HP, very good for a production car in the 80's. Now the Lambos all push 800+ HP. But I still love the Countach. I believe Lambo revived the Countach recently.
Wow! It still gives me chills watching that Countach pull away so easily.
that Lambo was toying with those cops, because that Lambo was specifically built for speed and to haul ass
it was part movie magic as they sped up the film for that effect, In reality a top end 150 mph T/A against a top end 200 Mph Lambo? yea no match at all LOL. I got to drive one when I was 15, my uncle ran an auction in Florida and I got to drive it about 100 feet LOL but I still got to drive it!!! its like sitting in a bathtub and just as hard to get out of

In no particular order:

Cannonball Run
Saturday Night Fever
Full Metal Jacket
Star Wars New Hope
Goonies
A lot of legendary stars in this movie. I don't believe we could duplicate a movie like that today.
We’ll never have the stars we had back then
No one would let you make this today or convoy or smokey and the bandit
netflix: hold my beer
also netflix: oh crap why are we losing subscriptions we used only the finest black actors and we got rid of the racist black lamborghini
This movie just gave off the vibe that the actors were not doing it for money, but for fun as well.
That makes this movie a classic.
Coming up with Roger Moore as a wealthy businessman who thinks he is James Bond, with a different girl next to him in every scene, driving a tricked out Aston is pure genious, as is the fact that they were all making fun of each other with blatant but funny namecalling like "Chocolate Monk" or "Goodyear Blimp"
Todays "stars" are always in it for the money, and sexist or rude jokes (even made completely tongue in cheek, without any vile meanings) are a big nono nowadays.
No way could we ever do this now! HollyWOKE no longer has any of the talent required to make such a movie! It's a fact that HollyWOKE has no talent whatsoever left in any way, shape or form! All we can do is sit back and watch it over and over and over again and wonder just where we went wrong.
What a time it was to be young in this country growing up with classic movies like this in the early 80s !!!...

All these years I never knew that Ray Stevens sang this. One of my all time favorite movie openings and now after all these years I like it better now that I know who sings it.
Same, had no idea he sang it despite having watched the movies fanatically as a kid and listening to Ray Stevens for years.
I was once late to the airport and was seriously speeding to get there on time, i was then i was overtaken by like 20+ Countach's and Diablo's which sounded amazing, then to top it all a XJ220 came past at i am guessing somewhere over 170mph+ as i was doing over a 100mph and it came past like i was standing still. They were on some car cruise and were using their cars as they were meant to be used :).
