All of New York . Manhattans, queen, Brooklyn, Bronx, New Jersey, Staten Island don’t have them. I don’t know about upstate though
Next time you go to the counter maybe you can ask why they don't have it and maybe you can request it. Sometimes all it takes is a simple request as I'm sure there is demand for them in such a populated area as NY.

Thanks alot for the video I skip that line and made it to my job today early In the morning. Question what if we send something the could be flammable what would the process be I imagine extra steps since it could get on fire. But will I have to fill out many many questions or how
I'm not sure because I've never shipped anything that applied to that policy. I imagine it will suggest seeing a live person because I see no stickers to mark it flammable.

They always print out a receipt along with tracking after payment.
Can you make a video to show how to use the kiosk to ship something internationally
For something like that I prefer to see a teller because I don't want to make any mistakes since it's going to be quite expensive and they can offer better options which I may not know about.
With the utube era, the post office should have put videos and a menu for all service from a basic service 1st class to certified mail and receipt and others. One time a guy customer refused to help me on the machine. He said "the PostOffice is supposed to teach you", I asked the guy, after waiting for the special door PostOffice to help me, and no help, I gave up and asked the customer. The customer chose to be rude to me because of the sloppy PostOffice.
Sorry to hear that. That was I decided to make this instructional video.
The most important thing; END your session AFTER your stamps are printed or your label is created. Why? If the session stays open the Kiosk allows the next visitor to print more stamps using the credit card auth YOU did before (up to a total of 50 Dollars)
That's a really important bug in the user interface of that machines...
And that is why you must follow the directions and answer the screen to make sure you’re logged out and card retrieved
yes - I know - but as USPS advertises in a video I use these in a rush. - For example, subway in 4 minutes and having 6 letters to stamp and post. I can't do that with the USPS staff like "here letters, here debit card via NFC, stamp them, post them - I'm gone..."
for that use scenario having to log off is not ideal... even for the "ahh finally, stamps for my letters I already wanted to send yesterday" people...

If you already paid for the proper postage at home, you just tape that on and add the shipping label.
I never heard of putting the bar code/shipping label on the side. Did the delivery go through?

Hi Jay! that bin you used at the end said no large envelopes. is it talking about a different kind of envelope? are they talking about the flat rate cardboard env.? by the way can you drop off a package that contains liquid (shampoos) inside that collection box? Thanks
As long as it fits and the right amount of postage is applied it can go there. That drop off box isn't just for flat rate items. Since shampoo is flammable and a liquid I'm not sure because they always start by asking if there is anything flammable and a liquid so it's best you talk to a post office teller. I think it's for the safety of the airplane and the pilot.
Do we press yes when it asks if we need additional help if we're shipping multiple packages?
Before it asks you to pay it will prompt you asking if you have additional packages to ship

If I had a prepaid label from USPS do I have to scan anything? Or can I just put it down the chute? I dropped one of today but since I already had the label I just dropped it down the chute not even thinking about if I had to scan it or not.
I think you want to scan it only if you want a tracking number. I'm not sure as I've never used it. Sorry for the late reply but did it work out for you?

Yeah they are talking about thin flimsy envelopes that would get bent and crushed from all the heavy packages inside the bin.

What if you already printed an envelope on your printer, for example for an Amazon return. Do you have to go through all the steps in the screen or can you just drop it in the blue container. Do you have to scan anything, etc or do you just drop it in
If you already have the return label I believe it's either FedEx or UPS.

You can track the status on the USPS site with your tracking number.
What happens if you don’t put your return address. The machine only generated the recipient address but not mine and I didn’t think about it until I got home. 😭
The return address is not required on postal mail. However, lack of a return address prevents the postal service from being able to return the item if it proves undeliverable; such as from damage, postage due, or invalid destination. Such mail may otherwise become dead letter mail.
The system has been updated, but not for the better. I couldn't figure out how to send a certified letter, got frustrated, and will return when there is a real person to help. The new menu system is unintuitive and I can't find instructions, the menu navigation, etc. The Post Office should be producing this stuff and post it on their site. Jay shouldn't have to make these videos - the Post Office should. But thanks Jay.

I tried using the big blue drop off box but I couldn't get the lever down. Do i have to push on it hard or was it full?
I'm not familiar with those because I thought those were specifically for letters ot small packages. It sounds like it's full.

When mailing the print label states the TO address. I would return in person and save the receipt of the automated kiosk.

I've had issues with the tracking number. Can you get tracking info for anything being sold on Ebay?
The receipt has the tracking number printed.
How about certified mail, 1st class, and with certified mail receipt. How to do it. Sometimes I have to take vacation just to go to the postoffice. They close at 5:00. And I work until 5:00 then to drive home.

So I dropped it off in the wrong bin. I put it on the other side of the kiosk. The kiosk never told me which one to drop it off in and there were no employees to ask. What happens now?
What other side of the kiosk? Mine only have one. Talk to a teller and show them your tracking info.

No. There is a separate label for that or you can just write it on the box.
Is the shipping label that you have the option to print off ebay the same as the stamp you check off at 2:47 ? And if you print it already you just check "already stamped" on the kiosk?
Yes. If you've printed the prepaid label from eBay then you just stick it on there along with an address label. You don't have to wait in line so you can just drop it off at the designated area that says drop off for prepaid packages.
Please where does the package go to when you send it? How does the receiver pick it up? Through the post office or another machine as this too using the tracking number? I need help
It's dropped into the collection bin where they retrieve it and sort it out for transporting to the destination. They scan it and that is where it provides you with the tracking information.

@@williamhills9272 If it's USPS label then it will be delivered by the USPS. FedEx, UPS, DHL and USPS have their own couriers.

As long as it fits in the collector you can. 2lbs is nothing.

Good question. I'm not sure. International mail is limited with the coronavirus pandemic also so it's best you talk to a teller.
Do you get those package envelopes in the lobby as well?
Yes. Those are always free if you use USPS shipping. The flat rate boxes are almost always cheaper than the weighed option, unless something is super light weight.
FOUR DAYS and counting tracking still says "USPS has received electronic notification from our Self-Service Kiosk (SSK) in (Town and State on Date) to expect your item for mailing." I dropped it off and it claims it is STILL WAITING FOR THE ITEM! Now I have to check every hour for status. NEVER AGAIN! I WILL WAIT IN LINE THAN SUFFER LIKE THIS! THIS IS RIDICULOUS! Why not have a kiosk like a bank deposit box that closes before scanning and weights the item and prints ITEM ACCEPTED?
Did you call or talk to them about what us going on? Perhaps it was lost in transit or maybe delayed.
@@Jay_RuleThe only scan it has is the kiosk scan. That means it never left the post office or it was not scanned at all and lost. No record of it being physically accepted by the post office. The KIOSK SCAN IS USELESS! it is NOT PROOF THAT YOU DROPPED IT OFF! Just like what the tracking says "USPS has received electronic notification from our Self-Service Kiosk (SSK)" and NOT "ITEM ACCEPTED." .... NEVER AGAIN WILL I GET IN THIS GAME OF CAT AND MOUSE.

The stamp is printed. Ebay offers their members a 10% discount or something.

Label as in the paid postage? You can just stick that on the package along with the address label and drop it off inside the drop box.
I sell things online and already package and purchase shipping labels at home. All I need to do is ship it, can I just use the drop box or is that only available for those that use the kiosk?
Are you shipping it via USPS or unmarked boxes because you can't use fedex UPS DHL in their drop off boxes. If you are using the correct boxes and have the address label and shipping label already attached, then you can use the drop off box or you can leave it on the counter during their normal business hours.
@@Jay_Rule Quick question I always put my prepaid packages on the counter for it to get scanned by the clerks but there would also be times were there are 0 clerks because they are in the back and I get anxiety when I leave my packages on the counter when I see a long line of people because I feel like my packages would get stolen especially during the holidays but I also see some other customers who just toss them in one of those beige postal hampers how would they know if it gets scanned if they just toss their packages in there? I once saw a customer unloading all his packages from an ikea bag into one of those beige postal hampers and was wondering if I can do that as well since the counter space at my local post office is very small

If I include an envelope with the shipping label above would it still work or does the shipping label have to correspond with the date it was purchased? Also, If I included my own postage but wanted a tracking number, how would I be able to do this?I’m not sure if I’m clear, any help would be highly appreciated!
You will need to provide a prepaid label for the right weight and shipping type (Express, Priority etc) to the person you are sending it to so they can send you the item if they don't want to cover the shipping fee. The date doesn't have anything to do with it as long as there is the right postage amount. If you paid for the label it should come with tracking so when it is scanned and shipped by the shipper, the tracking number will be active and valid.

Canada Post is testing something like this at _some_ locations.
I think that is pretty cool to do your own packaging and printing of parcel labels.

You drop it in the chute like I showed and USPS will put it in a cargo airplane in order to deliver it by air to the destination USPS and then the trucks will deliver it by drivers

You have to write the to and from address on another label. You can pick those sticker labels at USPS and it's free. The paid label is just tracking for the package.
I always wondered about this too. It is not clear and I can't find any definitive answer to this question. Do we HAVE to write the To and FROM addresses on the box/envelope IN ADDITION TO the address on the printed label that the machine provides?@@Jay_Rule

Nice, thorough demonstration. However, your package was more than 3/4 inch thick and you selected less than the measurement. So, did you have postage due? I don't know how the post office handles such, save for the recipient receiving a notice from the destined post office for the postage due. Nevertheless, thank you for the demonstration via this video.
Btw, using your credit card is there a fee for the use of the kiosk? I don't like paying fees for anything and it is most unfortunate that the machine doesn't accept cash, for that's how I pay for postage. Thank you......
Because this is flat rate priority mail, there is no need for measurement as long as it fits inside the container. There is no weight limit and always cheaper than weighed packages. Ask the teller next time which is the better deal.

The postal stamp to cover the shipping must be attached to any outgoing mail to cover for the shipping rate. The address label must also be attached.

are you only allowed to ship using usps bubble mailers or are you also allowed to use your own bubble mailer?
If you use your own then it's a different option where it's not using the flat rate USPS boxes.

No, these flat rate boxes are for US and US territories only and not for international shipping.
Dont ship anything to Nigeria, they are scamming you!

Can you use that machine and get the eBay postage discount along with it?
No.
You have to print your own ebay postage labels at home and attach the address slip and just put it on the counter where it says drop off or inside the drop off boxes.
How did u get the priority mail sticker before u shiped it!? Does it come with the box/letter or u gota buy it?
You can take it from any local USPS. It's located around the cashiers.

@@Caroquinterob5 It depends on how long you are staying at the hotel and how fast the package delivery is.
Did it give you the postage stamp or was that for the tracking/shipping label?
After you pay it gives you the postage stamp to put in the upper right. The label is free for you to fill out the name and address of the person you are sending to.

That would be part of tracking information that comes with the receipt
It will not give you a receipt for dropping off a package that already had postage on it.
@@jimklemens5018 thanks for the reply, actually a few months ago they just launched the option , you have to go to Other services > scan a prepaid label and you can scan it for a receipt before dropping on the collection box
Can I use a ups package ? I don’t have a ups store near me
USPS boxes have to be shipped with their own boxes. Similary, UPS, FEDEX and others have to be shipped from their own facilities. It would be cool if they were universal but each is it's own private entity.
@@Jay_Rule I wanted to return something from Amazon. The ups man came and I opened the door, he just ran to his truck and drove away. Now I’m stuck with the sticker and stuff. Hoping he would’ve taken it for me. That’s what ups pick up is for
@@RayZin I don't understand. Did he take the box with the returned item? Why didn't you approach and ask him for help? You're supposed to print the return label and include the packing slip so the store realizes it's you that is returning the item. I just returned a drone today but I went to the UPS store. Amazon seems to use UPS for returns because there are no Amazon shipping stores.
@@Jay_Rule since I dont have a UPS store near me. Like at all. Amazon has an option for ups pick up. Where someone goes to your house and takes the package for you. The man comes and just leaves the sticker at my door. When I opened the door, he was already at his truck and just drove away
@@RayZin Was the appointment that you set up for a pick up or label drop off only? You may want to call UPS up. Anyway, now you have the label, you can schedule another appointment for another pickup. Also, don't you have a printer at home to print the label?

Yes but you will have to choose the other shipping option since these aren't USPS type

@@riamu91 They still mailed it out even though it was probably mischarged? I prefer the USPS priority mail flat rate shipping because the envelopes and boxes are free and it's always cheaper than then using your own packaging. Weighing is always more than flat rate options.
Always labels will delivered by UPS or FedEx.

Yes you can put anything in there as long as it is not prohibited or restricted items. As long as it fits inside the padded envelope and is under 70lbs it's good to go. They have a saying that goes "If it fits it ships."

Hello Jay ..nice video. I m also a UA-cam blogger, just want to confirm is it legal to shoot inside a post office at USA and post it on UA-cam? I have recorded few clips only in public area and ready to go on air
I am highly confident it's ok to record because it's not like it's the airport, police station or court. There is nothing proprietary inside to not allow video recording. I'm simply showing the public how to use the machine.

pretty sure my post office says it’s illegal in a sign on the wall. i don’t see why though for something like this. and i’m sure they can’t control it in this day and age. so idk. don’t show anyone’s face. what can they do about it anyway? i’m thinking they just don’t want bad publicity.

All post office should have them put out for use and it's free or you can order them online for free also and shipped to your house
