- It looks like the USPS has updated their self service kiosks since 2016 so this is the updated version of my previous how to video. I hope this helps you avoid the long lines and to also use it on the weekends.

Your self service kiosk videos really helped me out! I live next to a city where the elderly population is higher compared to the rest of the state and that's where the closest post office is for me. Everyone lines up for the counter and I just walk on over to the kiosk because the majority of the people there don't know how to use it. Thank you so much for saving me tons of time!

The cashiers told me Mondays are the worst and also right before Christmas.
So much easier instead of talking to someone!
But if you have to measure and weigh it using a non USPS type of box, it can get more complicated. I've learned from experience that priority mail flat rate boxes will almost always be cheaper than using the weighed option as you can put as much as you can fit in the box regardless of weight.

Though I must say I used the kiosk so I wouldn’t have to deal with a jerk behind the counter…but then the drop box was out of order and I didn’t know where to put the envelope. Lo and behold, as is in keeping with my luck, I still ended up having to deal with a jerk behind the counter. 🙃

Hi there - thanks for this video. I'm returning an item I purchased online and was given a pre-paid USPS label. Would I just tape that onto the return box and choose "Package" instead of the "Priority Mail" packaging option? I'm only able to go outside of regular office hours so I have to use these machines. Super helpful video
Although I've never used that option, I will try my best to help you. I think you can schedule a pickup and it's free so that may be your best bet: www.usps.com/returns/
What if I already have a shipping label and don’t need to buy a new one?
A paid shipping label for the dimensions and weight of the package? Just stick that along with a to and from address label and you should be good.
Just used it today. Had to get stamps and to see anyone in person the line was out the door.
The USPS clerk said to never go on a Monday or during Christmas time lol

Hi, I'm going to be sending exactly what you had in the video, a medium flate rate box. I'm going to use the machine also, but what I'm wondering is when you purchase that label and after you paste it onto your package, do you have to go on the machine to purchase a stamp for the box also? Or is paying for the label basically paying for a stamp as well?
The printed label you paid is equivalent of the stamp. You also need to put a address to and from label.
Do you know if these kiosks can scan pre-purchased postage for tracking?
There is a scanner so I would lean on yes but I've never tried it.
You select “other services” then hit “scan prepaid packages”.
What stops someone from scanning>printing label>not placing item in the drop box? Can’t someone scam/be scammed easily doing this?
What do you mean? Are you talking about sellers scanning the info and then not actually shipping the product? I guess there is no way to stop dishonest people. Even if you go the way of live tellers, you don't have to ship anything when you receive payment.

Are bubble mailers provided for free by USPS at the offices?
They rarely have them. You can order them for free on the USPS website. I order 40-50 each time.
Are you able to do over night shipping with one of these or only 2/3 day shipping?
I think the express mail option offers that option but confirm with the USPS website
I think the answer is no sadly, you can’t do over night. Only regular shipping, cause you need that form for ur box that goes with priority mail express so I guess for overnight so have to wait in line, they should fix this like crazy & make it easy for overnight senders maybe they wouldn’t be going out of business lol
Other than the constant 😀👍 covering up the screen and obscuring/distracting me with what's going on, this is by far the best tutorial on this newfangled technology. Like the last one I just watched, the lady didn't pay for it, no label was printed out, no information on where to put your package lol. So yeah, this one definitely helped out the most for us morons out there that have never used this.
I had to cover it up because of privacy information. I used the kiosk last week and they updated it again so there are more steps now
I am at the Honolulu Airport and Kiosk will not process priority mail boxes ....process if faster please help
What error do you get? Priority mail is the standard for USPS kiosks.
Can you use the scale first before doing all of that if you're using your own personal shipping box?
Yes, but make sure to choose the non USPS box option and you will have to measure and weigh it which takes more time and usually more expensive.
What about the Priority Mail box, did you buy that and the packing materials at the kiosk too? Do you scan them at the kiosk?
All those USPS priority or express envelopes and boxes are free. Only the unmarked ones and tape you have to pay for. You can also order supplies such as these online and have them shipped to your house for free.

You can print pre-paid and No Postage Necessary (e.g. Returns) shipping labels at most Post Office® locations and at USPS.com. For further information and locations, see “Where are Label Broker printers and locations?”
What do i click if i am using my own personal bubble mailers ?
I believe other that doesn't include the USPS mailing envelope or boxes

Am I able to write the return address on the label after printing it from the machine if the box I'm using to ship a package is too small for another label to be used?
That is the paid postage label and doesn't list the names. You can use there address label stickers or write directly on the box or envelope.
@@Jay_Rule So if I’m shipping through Ground Advantage, I can write on the box or stick a label with the address, but if I ship priority mail, I’ll have to turn the address label horizontally?
@@wolfmaster2714 I don't understand your question. All addresses are written horizontally. You just have to place it so it's easy to see.
What’s the difference between “Flat rate envelope” and “Legal flate rate envelope” ?
It's the document size difference. Legal is longer in dimension I believe. Flat rate applies to their many different flat rate envelope and box options that no matter the weight, it's the same price.
Can you use prepaid label QR codes at this self-service kiosks?
When you are ready to send your package, you can go directly to the USPS Self Service Kiosk to scan and print it, or you can choose to the USPS store counter and show the staff your QR code and the USPS staff will take care of the rest of the shipping process: Scan your QR code.

I'm not sure how it will know you've already purchased one. I don't think there is a way to use the internet with these kiosks.
ok this may be a silly question but is there a way to put someone’s name on the label before printing or only the address? last time i did this it was very confusing because i sent something to my friend but her parents thought it was for them. luckily she was expecting the gift so she knew it was for her
You write the to and from address on a address label USPS sticker.

Yes. They have all of that for free but the non USPS ones you have to pay for such as brown envelopes or boxes and tape.

Yes. They will charge you by weight and I've discovered that it's almost always cheaper to use the flat rate boxes as you can fill it with any weight in it as long as it fits inside the box. Also, if the labels are prepaid, make sure it is for USPS because the post office will not ship labels made out for UPS, FEDEX etc.

@@SpongeXtermiat0r94 You can probably send that as media mail and it will be significantly cheaper. Talk to a USPS clerk about that. It should be no more than $5 but it will take longer to reach the buyer. Make sure it's protected properly too or you will deal with refunds and that is a PITA.
I use normal padded envelopes and send them with media mail (books) for amazon.

Also, how do I figure out what the dimensions of my padded envelope are?
I asked the mail employees and they didn't know, so I had to get back in the big line. =)
Media mail will be envelope unless it's a box. There is a ruler built into the scale. I highly suggest you measure this at home and make a note as it's much easier and also so people don't have to wait behind you.
Ummmm... anything thicker than 3/4" is a package.
Can you buy a money order from their self service?
I don't it because it only looks like it prints out receipts

Hi , so do you still have to write your name and address and the name and address of that person you are sending it to on the label. Because when I do it in person usually they stick the label that I hand written and the print out label. Thank you
The print out label is the paid label showing you paid for the shipping. The address label is a separate label. There are always at least 2 labels.

No, it will not accept cash. People would try to break into or steal that machine if it accepted cash.

I noticed you only provided the recipient address. Can you provide both a return and a recipient address? I am sending a package to a company.
I always provide to from and the to address on the label which I probably didn't show. The label the machine prints out is for the shipping label and it doesn't ask where it is being sent from. A package always needs 2 types of labels: 1) from and to 2) paid shipping label

I will be visiting the USA and want to take advantage of this self-service kiosk to send large envelope flat mail (by First Class) to friends domestically. But I do not have a return address as I am only visiting. Will the kiosk still accept it?
I think you will be fine. You just drop it off into the drop off box without a return label. According to Google: The United States Postal Service does not require a return address on regular parcel post mail. The procedure for sending packages without a return address is exactly the same as sending them with one, except that you leave off the return address.

I'm planning to ship to Vancouver, BC, Canada and i'm worried that the Kiosk won't support international. I don't have a computer/printer to print out customs form 2976 R and it's required for international. Will the clerk at a USPS print a form/label for me if say i'm shipping to canada?
For international shipping, I highly suggest you talk to a live person because they are much more knowledgeable and you don't want to end up paying for something that is missing a label and have it returned to you. Yes, there is a customs form that you must declare.

I have a silver bubble padded envelope I am sending some clothes as a gift. It is about 1lb, 15"x11". Which would be the cheapest way to send it? Time in delivery is not a problem. tia
I would go with the flat rate envelope or box option because 95% of the time, the weighed item will cost more.
I dropped my eBay order, with pre- paid ebay shipping label, into the kiosk box on Saturday. Now it's Monday evening it still says awaits item... should I be worried?

FOUR DAYS and counting tracking still says "USPS has received electronic notification from our Self-Service Kiosk (SSK) in (Town and State on Date) to expect your item for mailing." I dropped it off and it claims it is STILL WAITING FOR THE ITEM! Now I have to check every hour for status. NEVER AGAIN! I WILL WAIT IN LINE THAN SUFFER LIKE THIS! THIS IS RIDICULOUS! Why not have a kiosk like a bank deposit box that closes before scanning and weights the item and prints ITEM ACCEPTED?
Post office said your receipt is not PROOF that you dropped off the item in the drop off box. It is PROOF that you just SCANNED IT. SO where is my package?

Pls help I ordered a item on eBay and it was a lot of money I ordered it on the 18th the seller claims they sent it out on the 19th using a self service kiosk and it’s now December 23rd and no update on usps or anything, I have never heard of a kiosk until coming across this seller, my package says it will arrive December 24th but my package currently still says “USPS expects item for mailing (SSK)” but their is no updates at all usually when I get a package it would say arriving this day or arrived at this facility in transit to destination so far nothing I heard it’s a common scam on eBay so I’m hoping I wasn’t scammed and I hope it arrives tommorrow
Ask them for the tracking info. Maybe their is a holiday delay and they are shorthanded.
@@Jay_Rule thank you I actually just got my package today their mini 3D foamposites Nike gym shoes on a keychain, I usually put them on my barbies foot and upload pics to his ig but the seller was very sketchy through out this whole process and I’m shocked they even came in today with the way he was acting but he sent me the wrong pair and another pair that aren’t even hallow so my dolls foot can’t fit inside, and his only excuse is I’m sorry I must’ve been too busy 😑 I will never be doing buissness with him again because I paid $140 for some mini Jordan keychains and it was a Christmas gift and he couldn’t even do his job right which was send the right pair and their were so many other issue in this process that should have been so simple but none the less thank you for the help

You write that on a separate address slip with TO and FROM. They have self adhesive sticker ones from USPS if you use their priority mail boxes or envelopes. I always grab a ton because they are free.

I love how they call it a 'kiosk" lol, its machine in a cubby hole, Kiosk is what you see at the mall where they sell Sunglasses and knick knacks,anyhow i love this machine, i use it when i can,only thing i dont like about the one where i live is that it doesn't have a provision for media mail (yeah i know there is a way around it) but i would much prefer a option that says "media mail", when i have to ship a book i just go inside.
Most folks have no idea how to use this thing,i have at times spent some of my time showing someone how to use it so they can experience the joy of not making a long line, i love when I'm using it sometimes and everyone inside is staring "i wonder what that guy is doing?"lol
I used to use it on the weekends but now since I'm making quite a bit of sales on eBay, I prefer to have the tellers do the work. I've helped a few before but that was on the weekends and when I used to use it.
A kiosk is a small, free-standing physical structure that displays information or provides a service.

Yes, you have to select the non USPS options and have to measure and weigh it so it's a little bit more time consuming. You do realize it's usually much cheaper to use their boxes because whenever an item is weighed, it's almost always more expensive. You can also fit as much and heavy as you want in their flat rate boxes for a standard set price.
