This was really cool! I don’t have any Fab Filter plugins, but this has made a big case for getting atleast Saturn. A few videos ago, you mentioned you were thinking of doing a video on the mixing courses you’ve liked. Just FYI, I would love to see that! Cheers😊
Yeah, all the FabFilter stuff is great! I've got a couple more on my wishlist next time they go on sale! And the mixing course video will happen! It'll probably be a minute, but it's underway!
Thank you for the video. Just out of curiosity, could this be achieved by a stock EQ plugin to reduce the cymbals, boost the snare, and then a stock gate plugin to cut off the snare tail?
Kinda, but not exactly. A stock EQ and gate might be enough if the bleed isn't too bad, but the potential problem is when you're EQing out the cymbals, that'll also darken the drum itself which may or may not be what you want. That being said, I've got a couple videos on my channel with some cymbal-bleed-reducing techniques that you absolutely CAN do with stock plugins (they're just a little more complicated to set up). If you go to my "Drums" playlist (which should be linked at the end of this video) and scroll waaaaaaay to the bottom, you'll see a couple videos that should be able to help you out!
I actually filmed this like a month ago or something, hence I only said he mentioned it in that video with Jordan, cause Nolly's video wasn't out yet. But I also don't really think Nolly necessarily came up with it, or I should say isn't the only one who came up with it. We both stole the saturn multiband drum saturator thing from Eric Valentine, and at that point, it's just a matter of seeing what the "dynamics" knob does, so I'm guessing a whole bunch of people who watched Eric's videos came up with it. Obviously not knocking Nolly or anything, just saying I figured the little shoutout in the intro was enough to not have to re-film part of the video since it's a technique I was using long before I knew Nolly was as well.
Well you can always use more moderate settings to just pull out a little if you ever have too much, or, heck, if you REALLY like bleed, twist the knob the other way to get more!
I mentioned Nolly in the intro of the video as that interview came out a day or so before I filmed this, but I also mentioned this in a video I put out a couple months ago, before that interview happened. Both Nolly and I stole the multiband saturation thing I mention in my other video from Eric Valentine, and from there, it was just a matter of seeing what the dynamics knob did, so I'm guessing a lot of people who watch Eric's videos probably came up with this trick around the same time!
excellent tip, thank you so much!
Glad I could help!

@@BetterMixes Thank you for your response.. I shall go take a look and let you know how I get on. Much appreciated.
You should mention that two weeks ago Nolly shared this method which I believe he came up with.

@@BetterMixes Oh sorry about that. It’s like 3am here and I totally missed you mentioning it. All is good.
@@EXPLICITBG Oh no worries at all!
Great
🤘🤘🤘
I like channel bleeds.

Looks like you "stole" this trick from Nolly.. He shared it in a interview with hard core studio.
