That's the best and worst thing, isn't it? On one hand, you're sitting there thinking "holy shit I don't know ANYTHING" but on the other hand, you're actually learning so much.
These fabfilter videos are little bits of audio nerd gold. I’ve come back and watched them each dozens of times and they always teach me something I didn’t quite grasp the time before. Fabfilter is my favorite out of all the amazing audio company’s out there.
Saturn 2 is the most complete and the most feature-packed piece of software. Wanna add harmonics? Saturn. Wanna modulate? Yes. But parallel multiba...? Ezpz Saturn. Compress? Expand? Halftime? EQ? Destroy? No worries, Saturn got you covered. They call it saturation/distortion unit I call it Sound Transforming Engine.
Blew my mind when he created that thump control. Not that it’s that crazy, I just never would have thought to try it. Dan’s a goddamn audio production wizard
I recently purchased the Pro EQ 4 and the Pro Comp MB together. Wow. Little hard to take it all in. I can see as I learn more it's a really nice tool in the arsenal. I appreciate the opportunity to have videos like this one for the journey foreword.
Dan Worrall, I have been enjoying your tutorial videos for the last decade and have to say you NEVER FAIL TO INSPIRE! Wow!! Loving using saturn 2 on my ipad!!!
How I never knew about the multi band trick to add saturation without making a mess in the sound. Great video demonstrating so many things this plugin can do!
Best saturation plugin on the market. Nothing else comes close to being as complete as this. Absolutely love the new transformer models too. Beautiful.
I can't believe I'm requesting a feature because this plugin is so incredibly versatile, but... It would be great if there were arrow buttons next to the saturation styles, for quick scrolling through the styles without having to open the menu. That is all. I can't think of any more this plugin needs. Amazing.
If you have a midi controller you could always assign a knob to the saturation styles. You can even scroll through presets if you enable program changes in the options.
AFAIK there is no way an imager will produce good results in physics. So I guess there will be no plugin by Fabfilter - just for quality reasons. Correct me, if I am wrong. Edit: guess you guys are really talking about widening/narrowing a stereo signal, not turning mono into stereo? In that case I am with you.
So many tricks, this isn't introduction, this is advanced ! :P note: Saturn 2, in multiband for metal bass is quite good. One band for low, compressed, mid mute and hight with power amp... Nice tone !
I'd love it if all the FabFilter plugins could receive a true GUI scalability option for UHD displays. Right now, only the window is scaleable, rather than the GUI elements and text also.
I for some reason started out using 0 Fabfilter tools, happily fiddling away. Then every now and then I got one recommended over whatever I was using, and each and every time the thought that I was shooting myself in the foot by not using the Fabfilter tool entered my mind. For some reason I repeated this mistake with EQs, compressors, limiters, you name it. But I have finally come to my senses and ditched anything for a Fabfilter version when there is one. Without exaggeration, I feel that the tools strike the perfect balance between not being dumbed down, while being simple to use and, very importantly, graphically showing you what is going on. I find that last one essential to understanding what the various parameters actually do. The Saturn is the latest addition to this trend. While I found it immensely more intimidating than something like a basic tape simulator, the results I got were an immediate improvement. But I can't pretend to grasp half the things this thing can do yet.
Simply amazing guys. Great and inspiring demo of ta plugin that already was awesome but turned into a real must have for so much applications. Cheers !
I do a lot of compositing for visual FX and use nodes. its a common workflow as opposed to using layers, like in after effects. it would be cool to be able to use simple node trees in Saturn2 for the wiring. just a suggestion for WAAY down the road. in fact that would be a fun workflow for a great many things in DAWS in general. love Saturn2, my gawd yall hit it out of the park.. as usual.
It's actually a pretty nice plugin to get to grips with once you get started with it. And it works pretty well as a one knob plugin, you can just choose a setting type and crank it if you dont really know what you're doing yet
i know we spoke on here about this Dan, but please could you release this track with the guitar because it’s awesome. if you already have and i’m just being dim, then apologies. Cheers.
I watched the video (can't remember if it was on the Fabfilter channel or Dan's channel) about linear phase for EQ, but not 100% sure how what I learned in that video applies to a saturation plugin.
that was fucking nuts omg 🤯🤯🤯 i had no idea what this plugin was about at all wow....gonna have to watch this again im sure like a lot of the dan worrall tutorial videos
have Fabfilter sorted out the unwanted hiss on this version ? I had saturn 1 but rarely used it because of the hiss. I was hoping they would introduce a button to turn that off
what's the difference between clean tube and clean tape saturation. I know tape adds warmth by high frequency attenuation and tube adds warmth by low frequencies amplification. But what does the clean setting do on each side ????
I thought i knew how to use this plugin, but then i watch a Dan 'wait there is more' Worrall video. Thank you Dan!
That's the best and worst thing, isn't it? On one hand, you're sitting there thinking "holy shit I don't know ANYTHING" but on the other hand, you're actually learning so much.
Same, i was like yer its ok than watched this video and mind was blown away
Please start a bedtime story channel
Lmao 🤣... excellent!!
And here we have a 1024 kilohertz tone, which then will be modulated slightly by another 2048 kilohertz tone
🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Man his voice so smooth it made my airpod fall out

Solid state logic is second
Same thoughts. I kept revisiting this video for more than 6 times. Everytime I learn a little new thing. ❤
Agreed. It almost hurts my head. It's almost a kind of frustration at how amazing it is. I'm following but it's SO much. hahaha

Dang I didn't even know you could halftime in Saturn 😂 incredible plugin
@@Orrinton what exactly is halftime? I cant say ive come across that term for mixing.
@@GhostsInSpace_ it's generally used referring to a function in FL Studios - where you just slow down the sound (and pitch) by 50%.
ah gotchya! Thanks for that info :)@@nilespeshay1734
@@nilespeshay1734 it's not necessarily for FL Studio only - halftime is a term used broadly, not limited to a single DAW

Why do all that though?
@@greghillmusic To create extra thump only in the low end that's controlled by the transient
The soothing voice of Dan along with the hypnotizing music. That's all we want really.
Finally a Dan Worrall feature of Saturn 2. This has been eagerly waited.
Came for the voice and music. Actually learned something. Opened DAW and loaded Saturn 2.
I recently purchased the Pro EQ 4 and the Pro Comp MB together. Wow. Little hard to take it all in. I can see as I learn more it's a really nice tool in the arsenal. I appreciate the opportunity to have videos like this one for the journey foreword.
You are the David Attenborough of plugin walk-throughs. This was as soothing as it was informative
Fabfilter introduction to each plugin is worth a ton of tips reading and watching. What a state of art tutors and plugins
Dan Worrall, I have been enjoying your tutorial videos for the last decade and have to say you NEVER FAIL TO INSPIRE! Wow!! Loving using saturn 2 on my ipad!!!
Good to hear your voice again, Dan! It's been too long.
How I never knew about the multi band trick to add saturation without making a mess in the sound. Great video demonstrating so many things this plugin can do!
If this is the introduction, I can't imagine what the actual class looks like. My head is spinning, but I'm not giving up.
wow, just got the mix bundle...so overwhelmed and excited with new possibilities. thanks for these tutorial videos, Dan
I clicked to see the demonstration of the plugin. I stayed because of Dan's silky smooth narrator voice.
Always a pleasure learning what I could be doing with my plugins! Thanks Dan, thanks fabfilter!
Best saturation plugin on the market. Nothing else comes close to being as complete as this. Absolutely love the new transformer models too. Beautiful.
Many thanks Dan. Your dulcet tones have been missed!
Its never too late...thankyou Dan
god....its good to hear that voice again. Great as always Dan x
Dan's voice saturates my todger with vasopressin
There is just so much value in these videos. Absolutely fantastic!

you guys are hard to resist. i just jumped on pro-q a week ago (my first fabfilter), and now i'm salivating over four more of your plugins!
Nice evolution of the UI. Definitely some quality of life improvements in the added animations and tightening up of the colors.
PLEASE make a Imager plugin to widen out signals. I really miss that in your collection!
AFAIK there is no way an imager will produce good results in physics. So I guess there will be no plugin by Fabfilter - just for quality reasons.
Correct me, if I am wrong.

Izotope Imager and Polyverse Wider are excellent and free. No phase issue, excellent mono compatibility. Way more advanced than simple Haas trick.
try using the Saturn in mid/side mode ;)
@@n.k.9964 With clever (complicated) filtering in m/s, anything can sound wide. It'd be nice for FabFilter to put their hat in the ring.

I use multiple instances of this on every single project. Such a dope plugin.
Absolutely amazing video yet again! Well done Dan!
Finally! Thank you fabfilter and Dam Worrall
I was so waiting for this. And it was worth the wait!
Dan Worrall. It's been too damn long.

Wow, actually a multiband transient shaper. Definitely worth a closer look... Even without compression or coloring.
Is there anything this plugin cannot do! A must have. Excellent demo video really does this fine vst justice.
Great Explanation, Dan! But who would expect less? 💯💯💯
Whoa, big smile on my face, thanks so much! Would love to see more of these!
Brilliant plug. Loving it so far. All it needs is band based autogain and it would be just about perfect.
best tutorial i've seen and i've watched a lot of them!
I hope FF pays to Dan well, because this video just made me upgrade from Saturn v1 to v2 :)
Holy fuck Saturn truly is insane
Dan is the right man for the job
This plugin is unreal. Mind blown!
Any other company and this would be split into like 5 different plugins. The versatility of all their plugins is insane.
Exactly. I use Volcano 3 for drive and distortion and it sounds great.
You make me want to buy everything FabFilter
@fabfilter - you should add mixing & mastering presets. At the moment there are mostly FX and such presets.
I've been waiting for this for a long time
we've missed you danny-boy
Am I'm alone who is still waiting for Fabfilter Twin 3?😀
Иван Иванов I would love to buy an updated version of Twin. Especially now that they’ve added new modulation types.
@@russell_szabados And me too. Twin 2 is super comfortable synth, but still not very powerful
Damn Dan! I feel like I need a masters degree in Saturn 2. So many features!!!
I think it would be easier to get to Saturn than understand this. If this is an introduction, I wouldn't like to suffer the detailed aspect.

What a plugin!! Some companies would make four plugins out of that.. Semi-modular multiband distortion synthesiser??
have Fabfilter sorted out the unwanted hiss on this version ? I had saturn 1 but rarely used it because of the hiss. I was hoping they would introduce a button to turn that off
