Chirag Kalra the thought is that the quest giver and person who he returns to (greg) is also an NPC that accompanies you on the mission. Since its an online game he doesn’t actually leave though. He duplicates so he can go on the quest but still stay in place for when the quest is done and for other people to talk to him. Once the quest is done the duplicate disappears since he is no longer needed. The original greg knows that the duplicates just keep spawning and dying all the time so he is trying to keep the duplicate positive while he dies. He has to watch as a perfect copy of him with all the same feelings and memories just disappears.

Lol no, it's deeper than that... The Fisherman is actually very conscious of everything, but he is doing like he is a normal npc... He is the sole survivor of wipe out of all conscientious npc from alpha version, so he is just saving his ass. You can notice that the second mugger is on the way of consciousness and the farmer is already conscious but still asking why everything is like that, who he is really, what does npc mean.
Well, at least this way of traveling gives the one carrying the traveller a whole new outlook on n caretaker jobs, where you've got to carry people from a to b. 😎
In old computer games they sometimes had such an NPC walking around, like a disguised guard. Whenever a guest started ripping up the place, killing other guests etc., the undercover guard would crush him.
He's a lvl 20 Monk, retired adventurer. He has a modified oath of silence. He can only say that 1 line. He just wants to spend his retired days fishing, but people keep making fun of him
