    A friend of mine I've known for 35 years. I share this video with him. And now he doesn't talk to me. He blocked me. I thought it was funny. I thought it would give him some perspective. He's a MAGA guy. . I won't say it doesn't hurt to lose someone you know for someone you've known for so long. But if he's that self-absorbed that he cannot find the humor and honesty in this. I'm glad he's gone.

    • @scootaymildo1070

      Sounds like a tool. If you can't share a vid like this without hurting his fragile ego then he probably isn't worth the effort. I had a mate who went MAGA type weird (or the UK equivalent) and I just couldn't be arsed in the end. I didn't really care about his political opinions at first, but he'd just go on about them all the time knowing I disagreed to bait me into arguments. Stopped being fun and just became a chore.

    • @impalaSS65
      @impalaSS65 8 років тому +51

      +Eric van Bezooijen The answer to that is easy - it's not the same person. When they are soo many, some will of course steal the jobs the youth would get normally. They will get jobs politically allocted by the government (payed for by tax dollars). The major portion of immigrants will indirectly be stealing jobs by simply costing the society so much, the necessary increase in taxes will choke the free market to produce jobs.

    "The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility, but the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war." Sydney J. Harris

    • @sunnyjim1355
      @sunnyjim1355 4 роки тому +16

      Lol, that's such a dumb take. Nationalism is just about the recognition that the people of that nation are a distinct ethnicity and culture, who have an understood shared history and heritage, but more importantly, values. Sydney J. Harris was a lefty/liberal of his time, but just look what those principles have spawned and where they have go us to today; generations of dysfunctional degenerates who have lost all sense of identity and thus crave a Socialist utopia, that himself Harris opposed.
      Harris confuses 'Nationalism' with Facism, because he wasn't smart enough to see the difference at that time, whereas you don't have that excuse, other than also not being smart.

    The most important point about the French is that without their navy, the war for our independence would’ve either gone on for much longer or failed. So, we should honor France for that, and not forget it. Of course the main point was to undermine their largest rival, the British Empire, but nonetheless they were very important to the Revolutionary War.

Sometimes he’s perspiring profusely and shaking, until he beckons for a few cups of Jagermeister and/or something stronger. I’ve watched him down them with both relief and complete disgust. And magically, the sweating stops. So do the shakes. His delivery changes, he feels comfortable in his own skin again...and he’s able to do his job. Normal people (non-alcoholics) actually sweat more from drinking. If someone stops sweating after downing a shot or two, they be physically dependent. What a terrifying paradox to be living in. Doug is a comedian’s comedian. He’s brilliant, turbulent and self-deprecating...all while basically laying down modern versions of Aesop’s Fables. Come for the chuckles, stay for the teachings. He’s not a god, but I’d be willing to stretch things and maybe call him a modern-day prophet. Like Chappelle, O’Neal, Carlin, Mooney, etc...he helps us to see through the bullshit and laugh at it right before the pile comes crashing down on us.

    The US didn’t save the French in WW1 anyway; France was the Russia of WW1. They took the full brunt of the Imperial German Army and came out on top. A French Field Marshal was the supreme commander of the Entente forces. France fielded a third more troops than we did during the final offensives into Germany, we were just there to help out.

    I fucking it hate it when Americans think they "saved the French" in WW1. The frontline in WW1 was set, it could have lasted for years still. Americans coming, in the last year of the war, only offered the opportunity for French soldiers to open a new front in the Balkans and destroy Germany's allies. Point is that the French didn't need saving in WW1. America was a good manpower help, but things were in control, as they had been for 3 years before. The best armies in the world in 1916 were first, the German army, greatest army. Second was France without a doubt. Then by 1917 Britain started to have a strong land force too. When America came to Europe in 1918 they came with the same glorious ideals as Europeans did in 1914, of glorious charges. Unfortunately they got mowed down because the technology was such that you couldn't just conquer an entrenched position. But additional American manpower allowed the experienced allies, the Brits and French mostly, to finish the job, granted.

    nationalism doesn't equal hatred of other ethnicites; the reason why we have 'nations' is because everyone nowadays are inherently nationalists. Without nationalists, everyone would still be solely tied to their local neighborhoods and towns like those of the medieval ages. Without this evil nationalism, we wouldn't have America, South America, India, Italy, Germany, etc., these are all nations that formed by either taking similar language regions and peoples and putting them under one national flag and land, or separating themselves from a foreign empire that's culturally different from them.
