Great video. I did this walk with the Canberra Bushwalking Club in December. Words can't describe it. The last pitch to Mt Anne was too much form me and the climb up to Mt Lot through the Notch and then back down to the Lonely Tarns was an epic day.
I did this pre bushfires in 1989. First day torrential rain so we couldn’t summit Mt Anne which was a shame, second day was absolutely perfect, hot and not a cloud in the sky. The traverse of lightning ridge and camp at the lakes with the sunset over lightning ridge one of my happiest memories ever on a walk. The last day thick fog and steady rain. The fire seems to have cleared the track somewhat and I don’t recall any stairs going up to mount elisa. Will definitely do it again.
Lovely video, and lovely scenery to go with! Such a great circuit this one. Really liked the timelapse of sunrise from Shelf Camp with the fog burning off!
Good to see you had great weather on the Exposed areas, does make all the journey better when you can see the amazing views from the Summit. I did Mt Anne summit as a day trip and was in the clouds by the time I got there, but still did it. But keen to go back and do the circuit and get those views from the camp sites.
Thanks mate. How was the climb up Anne in the clouds? I assume the slabs would have been slippery. I would highly recommend going through the full circuit.
@@AaronGrayOutdoors I got some cloud break between Eliza and the Circuit junction, but whiteout on the summit climb. The part before you climb up from the East side was tricky, as I couldn't see the path and the markers were hard to spot. Had lunch at the top and waited and saw a small amount of WA. The descent was hairy, that exposed rock you need to get down on your gut and lower yourself backwards was getting sketchy. Some of those toppled boulders are the size of a school bus. I remember trying to find rock cans and seeing one section that dropped at least 15m down inside them. I'll PM some pics to your Instagram.
@@AaronGrayOutdoors even if ya do ya still a mainlander until 25years that's our rules lol 😂😂🤣 east coast is sunny and hot west coast is always wet and north past lainceston is industrial and full of weirdos esp Launceston lol south is the place to be mate 💪🥾🍻
Thanks Adam. The temperatures during the day for the first two days were between 20-25c with the temperature plummeting for the last day being 10c. Still, fantastic weather for hiking without the QLD humidity. The UV's in Tasmania are super high however.
Thats probably the best video of The Notch I have seen. everyone else films it from the top. If you check out "the tricky bit" on my channel of The Mt Anne summit , I try to show the same...the initial bit ... @@AaronGrayOutdoors

WOW! Thanks for this-I really appreciate the footage here and your efforts putting this together and sharing-it's excellent and really well done.
Thanks so much. Really appreciate the comment 👍
Stunning walk, thanks for taking the time to film and share. Helps to get an idea of the terrain and conditions…👍
Thanks heaps. Appreciate that! It was a fantastic hike, highly recommend.
Thanks for refreshing my memories from the 90’s. Hope to make some new ones there later this year.
Thanks Phillip. I imagine the track would have been a lot harder back in the 90s. I'm definitely heading back out to TAS again soon to walk some more.

Cheers Daniel. Yep, the climb up Anne is not for everyone. It was a fantastic walk.

Thanks. It was definitely a great walk. Yep, extensive track work was done up to Eliza following the fires a few years back!
Love your videos Aaron.
Keep them coming 👍🏼
Thanks heaps, really appreciate that. Cheers!
Great shots of some of the best scenery SW Tassie has to offer, fantastic cinematography to suit.
Cheers Seb. SW really does have the best scenery in Australia, in my opinion.
Lovely video, and lovely scenery to go with! Such a great circuit this one. Really liked the timelapse of sunrise from Shelf Camp with the fog burning off!
Cheers Lucas. It really was a fantastic circuit. Amazing scenery and landscapes for sure!

So thank you for the magnificent views ❤️❤️
Awesome! I hope you love Tasmania, its a fantastic place. Good luck on the hike, it certainly is a challenge. Thanks!
Another epic walk Aaron. As you say, Tassie keeps on delivering. You find out a lot of things about yourself on a walk like that. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers Phil. Glad you enjoyed it and yep, very true. Thanks!
Looks like a great trip mate, beautiful sunrise. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks mate. Glad you enjoyed it!
Another awesome video mate thanks for sharing the experience
Thanks mate. It was an incredible hike!
One of my favourite areas in Tassie, welcome to our backyard mainlander 😂😂😂
Cheers mate. Hopefully not a mainlander for too much longer. A move to TAS is on the cards, for sure.

Great Timelapses in there!
At least the weather was mostly good!

At 10:03 is that THE actual The Notch itself?
Hi Marty. Yep, that is the notch. It’s not as bad as they make it out to be, but a rope for pack hauling definitely comes in handy.

@martyfelber6102 thanks Marty. Yep, I remember watching your video before I started the traverse. Cheers!
