- In this lesson we learn how to say The, This & That in Czech. This car, that house, the pool. In Czech all of these are translated into Ten, Ta, To as well as Tenhle, Tahle, Tohle. Today we will learn how to use these, when to use one and when the other. And you will get plenty of practice with the printable exercises.

I'm confused about gender, in exercise 1 both 13 and 19 seemed to be exceptions to the rule, but weren't listed with an ! as exceptions like with 9, 10 and 21. How come?
13: kolegyne' should be Neuter thus To, but you've got it as Ta
19: soudce end in e as well, should be To but is listed as Ten
6, 7 and 23 confirm the e = To pattern (neuter),
11 confirms ie = ta (female)
and 21 has an ! to show it's an exception
Hi Kateřina. Thanks again for such a wonderful and useful lesson. I'm learning so much with you. I have a question about the number changes according to the gender. In your lesson you told us about the number 1 and its changes (jeden, jedna, jedno). Does this rule apply to the rest of the numbers: dva, tři, čtyři, etc? If so, how do I know the changes that they must have? Thanks. Keep the good work!

The gender change is only in JEDEN or DVA.
jeden - jedna - jedno
dva - dvě - dvě
The rest of the numbers don't change with gender.
Thank you for these lessons. I use them to supplement other studies I am doing and to advance my vocabulary. I think the city in the lesson was Český Krumlov but I am not sure who the herečka in the lesson is. I am not familiar with Czech actors and actresses yet.

Exercise 2 - Picture 14. Soudce is a male judge right? The picture is of female. Are both the genders Saudce as in the answers it is written saudce. Thank you.

hello Katarina, thanks for the lesson. I fount it's not easy to tell the gender between Mi and N. Do you have more special way to help telling the gender between them, please?

I think there are no more ways unfortunately.. only the endings..
Also baby animals are always neutrum: kuře, kachně, hříbě.. but i find this rule a little bit too specific to help too much. :-)))
