It has been my decade long personal experience that there is so much discrimination out there in the aviation sector! For example, I had been trying to take piloting lessons in rural Le Mars, Iowa, where I lived for 11 years, for 7 years and I kept being told by our local airport staff that our local airport didn't have a plane that was heavy enough to carry myself (who weighs about 350 pounds these days) and another individual for recreational flights as a passenger or as a student pilot who was interested in flight training and gaining the several thousand hours that one legally has to log to become a commercial pilot. Then, in a totally sadistic twist of fate, 4 local people died in an aircraft that flew right out of that same Le Mars, Iowa airport and the the guy who was flying the plane was flying with one of his students and two passengers on a hunting trip when the plane crashed because the pilot in command of the aircraft had a heart attack during the fatal flight, however, I later found out that the aircraft was leaking carbon monoxide and all 4 passengers were found to have carbon monoxide in their system during their autopsy. It just made me think that, these people who were operating this aircraft could have made enough money to properly maintain the aircraft and those 4 people would be alive today if they had been more willing to make a profit from recreational aircraft flights and flight training than they were willing to lie to and discriminate against a local individual who was already a 30+ year veteran of the transportation industry who had been recommended to take recreational flights and flight training from that facility by members of the facility's staff's own family members.
our black pilot sisters, you do know black people are so clever. We're not black, but human being. do not be called as black pilots but human pilots . As africans, we are so proud of you.
They know you’re the pilot, they are trying to be condescending when they “mistake” you for everything but the pilot. Everyone knows what an pilot’s uniform looks like. It’s a clever way to try and insult you when they play dumb.
No not at all. Sometimes it's a rhetorical question. I was waiting for the toilet Kuala Lumpur - Vientiane Laos. Was asked if I could wait. And from the cockpit ( year that word is terrible,) came out this Muslim woman in full regalia 4 bars. I knew she was the captain but I still said " you are the captain?" Just impressed rhetorical question.
I want to fly. How do I sign up? I do not have the resources to pay for school. I’m also a fourth year medical student so I have a lot of student loan debt too. Is there a scholarship application where I can apply?
Not sure if you are still interested try Alaska Airlines pilot program one will pay 25k of the loan costs and the video on the site that advertises pilot training suggests places you can apply for scholarships. Hope this helps!!
This is how i know the world has not changed! If you really understood the struggle of a black person in America and any other races outside of being white. You would not make jealous comments or racist comments. You would just support, the chance for a white woman might the same but the opportunity is completely different. But if it was all white women i would still congratulate them because i am not a HATER.
Renee, please don’t give these trolls any attention. Many of the individuals making hateful comments had aspirations of being a pilot at a young age and for whatever reason, were not able to achieve their dream. It makes their blood boil the see certain people in positions they feel they are entitled to. The United States is one of the hardest countries in the world to become an airline pilot and we all know that color and gender increases the difficulty. I’m proud of these women and I wish them the best. Unfortunately their biggest challenge is not going to come from flying the aircraft, it’s going to be from all the hateful people out there trying to break their spirit.
They keep saying "incredibly less than 1% of pilots are Black females." That's because there is racism in aviation. They don't want Black females or males and they even deterred me from asking questions because my son was thinking of joining the air force. But i don't want my son to go anywhere where he is not welcomed, and someone can mess with his plane. So yes guys I'm sorry to say there is racism in our army, navy, air force and marines. So that's something that has to be dealt with.
While some may look at this as a good day. I do not. I look at this separation in the Black Community. And what they need to do is not only show black women, but black men as well that are in the aviation program. Show them standing side-by-side. No offense but that’s why I do not like BGR. It showing separation between male and female. If you want to deal with something and tackle an issue, or strengthen the people, you do it together.
Oh yeah, right. Like I’m going run out and specifically request them to fly the plane. That’ll never happen. I trusted my black dentist who I later found out was given an easier time at dental school because he was black. He pulled the wrong tooth. That’s not going to happen again.
It's amazing that they are doing this, but, why are they ONLY trying to inspire BLACK women? I look forward to when we don't see the world by color and we start to see everyone as a person. MAGA Q+ TRUMP 2020 +++
@@noahjhoward1 why spread hate? They are trying to inspire black women because they are underrepresented in the industry. Are you ignorant of this world's history? Many roadblocks were placed in front of those with a love for aviation that you share. Yet they overcame. The life of Eugene Bullard is a testament of that. Read a brief overview of his life and tell me you don't understand why underrepresented groups should be targeted for recruitment. Especially with the projected pilot shortage. We need capable pilots, controllers, airfield managers, etc, regardless of ethnicity or creed to keep humanity safely traveling these skies to forward our dreams.

At 350 lbs….you do not fit! Square yourself away before pressing the limits of an aircraft.
Love seeing this!

Omg Monique's father looks EXACTLY like my late father.
Reason 857 why to take the train
As long as the landings equal the same amount as the the take offs, I dont care what race of gender my pilots are. 🤷♂
What has their colour to do with it, we'll soon see segregated flights, I don't care what background you are, fly the plane.
