I spent hours last night trying to find answers to fix my carriage stall. my help book with printer, online support and finally called hp and talked with tech support for 1 hour! he could offer no help or solution except to buy a new one! I just came across your video and tried your solutions, and it worked!!! printer is ok again...thank you for your help!
My C7280 had a weird problem it was pulling in the paper then stopping or getting paper jams .I cleaned the rollers and pick up ones and tried again ,success! But the next print it was the same i cleaned them again and it was OK . But 2 prints later it was the same . After many attempts i spotted the problem the bar the 4 rollers sit on was moving sideways a fraction and not connecting to the black gears on the left end .The bar has a spline on it which grips the gear and obviously over time has worn the internal spline on the gear .If the bar moved to the right a fraction and the gear moved to the left it lost grip and didn't pick up the paper as it was fed to it .I have super glued the spline to the gear hopefully it will get a few more years out of this excellent machine

Thanks a lot. Our printer has been inoperable for more than a week. We took it to where we bought it, "Staples" and they said better to buy a new one. As it turns out, it was the hidden paper on the right that was jamming it.
Even thought my HP was a different model this info helped me to clear the paper jam. There had been a fragment torn inside which I just could not find until I followed the instructions of this video. Thank you.
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I just could not find the paper jam and after watching this I was able to find it on the extreme right, blocked from site by the ink carriage. Printer is as good as new now.

My carriage kind of slams against the end of the printer like it thinks it has more distance to travel but it is at the end of the rail...Is there a way to calibrate this?

This kinda sucks I can't view the right side the printer head doesn't unlock no way to move it. Plugged in or unplugged and the paper jam isn't a real paper jam when I take the duplexer off the paper is there and it's not jammed up at all it's like it's not being grabbed intima and the software thinks it's a jam maybe I need to get right inside and lightly oil or clear dust from the rollers on the inside. The printer works well but duplex printing I can seem to get running and I Can't afford 100.00 to buy a refurbished just to find out it's something else inside. Any ideas on instructions to get the top of this thing off? It is pretty damn old now but other then the duplex printing, it works so damn well and I have ink for it for the next few years, I don't want to buy a new printer with this maybe I'll just have to do manual duplex, dang it.

Thanks for this, to be honest, I wrote my comment in frustration and saw how old it was, I didn't think I would get a reply. So really thanks whether it works or not. I truly am thankful for a reply. I'm an Old school hardware PC tech but this printer and printers, in general, were not part of the schooling I did I have taken a few printers apart but nothing as complex as this unit and it is 12 years old. On top of that this was gifted to me from my late father so along with the still prints awesome and the ink for years it has sentimental value.

lance1283 While the printer is plugged in and turned on, please open the printer like you are about to change one of the ink cartridges. This action should prompt the printer to move the cartridge holder from the dock. While the cartridge is away from the dock, please unplug the printer. This should allow you to continue with the steps in the video.

Please follow the steps in the "A 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays for HP Photosmart C6200 and C7200 All-in-One Printer Series" document ( ow.ly/UY6hg ). Please follow the steps in the document for Solution Two, Solution, Three, Four, and Five.
If you have followed all of the steps in the video and are still experiencing issues, the printer will need to be serviced. I can provide HP technical supports contact information in a private message for your country if you would like.
OMG I hate this printer!! More often it has some sort of error than not. It is a chore to get any printing done, not to mention the constant monitoring of print cartridges being out of date. I wish I'd chosen a different printer!

@jmf896 A paper jam would not cause ink to leak into the printer. If your printer is leaking ink your printer likely needs to be serviced.

i have an HP C309a all in one and the carriage is jammed but there is no paper in the machine and it keeps telling me there is a paper jam.
