  • Taking apart HP Photosmart C6150 All-in-One printer. Same instructions for HP C6180, C7250, and C7280 printers. If you need to repair this printer or replace some part, I hope this video helps you get to that part. This is a very good and smart printer. One of the first HP wireless inkjet printers. These have very smart and heavy duty ink system.
    I had an "Ink System Failure" error and the printer stopped printing. The reason for it is that there was a paper piece inside the printer. Usually there is not need to take apart a printer to get to the piece of paper, or whatever is in the way, but I still needed a part from this and this printer has over 10,000 pages printed, so I just decided not to salvage it, but salvage parts off it. I hope my experience can be of help to you.

    Fantastic, so good to see a teardown. Everyone is complaining about plastic gears failing and it goes to show HP has truly engineered it to fail within 4-5 years of light use so you have to buy a new printer!

    Ah, the 02 ink series HP printer we've learned to love and hate. I have about a dozen of these and by now, the little black feed roller gear has broken in all of them. (It appears the plastic shrinks so they eventually crack on the steel shaft.)
    It would be a great video to show how to replace that gear with the minimum of "bloodshed" but having taken one of these printers completely apart down to the base plate for another repair, it appears the same level of disassembly is required for this gear.
    To make matters worse, this gear can be seen and I've thought about getting the new bear, cutting it in half and then super gluing it to the shaft with some wrapped wire to keep the halves secure by reinforcing the glue.
    However, I haven't started this project yet. (and am not looking forward to it either!)
    Thanks for the video, but it would have been nice to disassemble down to the gears since this appears to be their Achilles Heel and will eventually kill every last one of them no matter how low the page count.

      Yes, I've had two HP C6280s with black gear failures. Looking for a video myself. Did you get your printer fixed?

    • @NoferTrunions
      @NoferTrunions Рік тому +1

      @@christopherw840 LOL, I have TWELVE with the broken gear! Haven't done anything. 70 years old. Not enough time left (!) I love little projects like these but I doubt if I will ever do the repair. I once had to break down one of these to the sheet metal base to repair a stupid plastic finger in the paper feeder - had to do with the head docking ink tank. Nasty bit-o-business! I have the Top of the Food Chain C8180 w/Blue Tooth which I'd really like to fix.
      I had thoughts of selling on eBay but when they dropped the 1099-K reporting from $20k to $600, that killed personal property sales. Local market has no interest. There are a few nationally that want these printers - there are certain models which command more money - I have 2 or 3 of those in addition.
      NOTE: I actually have a weird one (has a graphic of turning gears when doing maintenance - none have that "cartoon") that has an ink system failure that might be fixable by disconnecting the side PCB ribbon cables, power it up, turn off, reconnect cables and force to do an initial ink system prime. It might possibly have a different gear design but no idea.

Obviously it sprays ink somewhere but not on to the paper. On if my two D5460 has a permant printhead jam, I have not figured out completely how the mechanism works with feedings and rolls and adjusting the ink cleaning waste tank, for sure one lever on the side is not keeping its position and falls aside sometimes

I tried multiple cleaning kits with no luck so i ordered a new print head $35, and a ink feeder $15). I'm hoping with your video and these parts i get it back working or i'm going to throw it off the empire state building. all the ink i use is in date (remanufacturered though) so who knows.
