- Thank you guys so much for the support on the original video! I really didn't expect so many views, comments and likes. I've now included both Civ Revolution games in the video and changed up some of the footage and music, along with some other minor editions. This is my second ever video so I hope to improve production wise overtime. Enjoy!

It’s true but based on how you play the game it makes decent sense. Civ Rev rewards quality over quantity of cities, so there’s likely not as many cities to nuke
They could have sold everything and rebuilt the city 10 squares further away before the thing hit its destination.
@@SeanKula It's not even realistic. A real ballistic missile would only fire it's boosters for the ascent and not all the way through

Fun fact: in Civ 1 the nuke had two components to it, the "unit" and the script. It was a unit with 99 attack and 0 defense and so could "lose" to a unit that succeeded it's "defense" roll... but the script would still trigger, killing everything in the area. This lead to a sort of myth that the "Warrior" could defend against a Nuke... because theoretically it could, it just wouldn't survive the following script.
The whole concept of a "unit" of a nuclear missile in CIV 1 and CIV 2 was nonsense. They were treated as any other air unit, so you could "lunch" a missile over a sea and then "land" it in your city on the other side. ;=/
@@Vielenberg I think the idea was that the "unit" also represented the launch mechanism... like a mobile missile launcher. The sprites were minimalistic and not meant to be hyper accurate.
@@ericlanglois3782 that would be true if the nuke could only go through land, not land and sea. Also the range was set at 16 hex. That's more than airplanes. So, it's clearly meant to represent the flight range of launched missaile.
@@Vielenberg ever heard of ALBMs? Air-Launched Ballistic Missiles... it would solve your issue quite easily.

I started on Civ 3 and I still miss ICBMs being able to hit anywhere in the world and the con is that the missile has no movement. Usually no problem late game though since the map would be covered in railroads which eliminated movement costs.
I don't like the nukes from Civ 3. They usually didn't destroy 100 % of the enemy units, they always had some lame rest percentave. Thus to destroy them you needed ground troops and that was annoying.
Same dude, I also started there. Totally forgot which of the games had ICBMs. But to be fair it was too OP. There are many things about Civ VI that I don't like, but the way nukes are treated there are not one of them
The sheer fear of everyone having ICBMs in Civ 3 was always grounds for great Cold War tension: those Germans are on the border with my boys but those Aztecs are moving in...will i fire first or will they?

There's a mod for civ 6 that improves nukes. Highly recommend. Can't remember the name off the top of my head
I particularly like the civ 5 nukes, simply because you have too load them on stuff too shoot them, I like the idea of having nuclear subs prowling the worlds oceans, being a prime target, and having too protect their payload at all cost

Ah, thanks for including the audio for Civ II's explosion. I've been looking everywhere for a clip that actually had this, so I could share some nostalgia with a buddy. :)
the synchronizing warning sirens are an iconic part of the late game in Civ II, and it feels weird not hearing them in the others.

Civ2 was my game of choice as a kid. I remember being home sick from school and my mom would get home and ask me "what did you do all day" and my response would be "oh just conquered the world".
The musical soundtrack is etched into my brain from countless hours of playing both Civ II and Civ II: Test of Time.

It took them six iterations of Civilization to make the nuke explosion look somewhat decent. I always was a little disappointed with the effects by the standards at that particular time of release.

surprisingly I didnt find the Civ5 nuke to be lacking at the time. in comparison of course its really whack.

Was just recommended the (OLD) version by UA-cam, neat that the new version was uploaded today.
Mine was the nuke on the CIV REV DS version, and man it still felt epic blowing up someones capital.
None of these hold a candle to Alpha Centauri's Singularity Planet Buster. It leaves craters in the Planet's surface about the size of Rhode Island.
Personally I'm partial to the Park Ranger unit from Civilization: Call to Power. A nanite bomb that straight erases the target city.
Maybe if Alpha Centrauri was a successful franchise someone would care.

In one of them games it was possible to destroy earth after a certain number of nukes had been fired. Forgot which one though.
Civ4, every nuke caused more and more tiles turn to desert. I didn't reach the destruction thought, only found it in tips to Rhye's mod which I played.
I think it's a civ6 Game mode,
I think that would be Rise of Nations. Not a turn based game though.

I liked the Civ 5 map design more than Civ 6
You could have added the nukes from SMAC (Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri). PRETTY EPIC graphics.
That and the Singularity Planet Buster has to be THE most devastating unit ever. It leaves holes in Planet's surface for crying out loud!

Yeah, I loved how Planet Busters would create real, actual craters in the surface at ground zero.
If you want to be correct, he/she used a thermonuclear missile instead of a regular one in civ6. The thermo-nuke has a two tile radius, while the normal one has a one tile radius.
I love the fact that Civ 6 has you getting the Cold War civic in 2 turns, very fitting
as per usual, civ rev's is the most dramatic. Well done there.

More than 20 years later, and none of the Civ Nukes can even hold a candle to the Planet Busters in Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.
Once conquered nearly the entire map with my nukes as France. Just had little old Egypt left with her four cities and she was landlocked so i was in no hurry.
Was just waiting to get more when all my cities rebelled against me.
And i do mean, every single one of them.
Best way to win? Wait till the enemy collapses in on itself while hiding in a corner somewhere 😅

Needed: The sirens of CIV 2, the ICBM range of CIV 3 (make these super expensive)+The loading of Civ5 for cheaper tactical nukes/SRBMs and the graphics of Civ 6.

Cause call to power is a ripp off. It was game made another studio. There was even a case in court so that they can't use name "Civilization: Call to power" anymore.

hard disagree, the nuke in Civ 6 looked like the sun itself was unleashed and the mushroom cloud was glorious. In Civ 5 it just looked like a big bomb, barely even had a mushroom cloud whatsoever
