I to believe the Titan is the best starter ship. Can do a little bit of everything and has decent firepower. It's not terribly expensive to buy in game at just under 800k. Last week ran into a couple new people and sent them both 800k to go buy Titans. 👍

@@theredeyedjedi701 if you still want to do a variety of things I guess I would say either the Cutlass Black or the Freelancer. They both have a turret. Though the Freelancer's is rear firing so it's more of a defensive cargo ship. While the Cutlass is more of an offensive multi-role ship. If you just want a two-seat fighter ship, the Hurricane. It has a turret with four big guns on it. But if combat isn't your thing the best money making ship is the Prospector mining ship. While it is just a single person ship, having a second person flying around scouting for profitable rocks is very helpful. And once you are making _millions_ you can buy many other ships to fill any role you want to play. 😉

As very long time Aurora pilot (LN & ES) it is nice to see someone touch the on utility of the these basic ships. They can all do a lot and are very cheap to run, each has a weak spot but they are excellent generalist ships. And while you wait for that big ship to be reclaimed you can a few quick jobs in your "starter".

I just bought a Reliant Tana using in game credits. It's quickly becoming my favorite ship. I have been soloing group VHRT bounties with it and escaping unscathed. It's a small target, very fast, very maneuverable and can be outfitted with two pilot controlled turrets for a total of 6 gimballed hardpoints. It feels wrong to take down a wing of Hornets, Hurricanes and Vanguards with this tiny ship but it also feels good. REAL GOOD. Best of all there's room for cargo and the respawn time is.... wait for it (or rather don't) only 45 seconds. Blink and you could miss it.

Between the 100 & 300i, I wouldn’t mind throwing a few more $ down to help support the game. I think the 300i is a great starter for someone who wants a small ship that can do a little bit of everything to test the waters before branching out into a more role specific ship. And after getting a new ship it’s still nice to go pack to for some touring.

The cargo refactor should make the rear cargo of the alpha usable, and the mustangs do technically have interiors, it's just not easily utilized. you can shove boxes behind the seats if you have a multitool with the tractor attachment. And if you're in 0g, you even get back there yourself and can access vehicle storage. (which the mustangs do actually have) I'm expecting another pass on the mustangs to make this actually usable normally at some point in the future.

    • @PhillipLemmon
      @PhillipLemmon 2 роки тому +1

Technically the only variant of the Mustang that can carry a box.. CORRECTLY is the BETA.
Cuz you can get out of the seat and go in the back of the ship.
You can TRY with the ALPHA but it's more trouble than it's worth.

    • @qumefox
      @qumefox 2 роки тому +1

@@PhillipLemmon The fact that all the other mustangs do have accessible vehicle inventory providing that you manage to get behind the seat shows me that CIG likely intends for the space behind the seats to be accessible normally at some point. The mustang was just modeled before that was considered. So I expect it to get at least a slight redesign at some point.

While I recently got my Titan back from my BuyBack list; I still really enjoy flying my 125a and 135c. Sure, CIG really charged way too much for those ships imo and they should have sold them at just +$5 over the Aurora MR and Mustang Alpha; they do offer quite a decent package. Although the 300-series is clearly superior in terms of firepower and luxury interior, the little 100-series can still get a lot of stuff crammed int; especially these boxes during Xenothreat. Having practically unlimited hydrogen fuel is a nice bonus too but it's a shame that CIG did not turn the 100-series into a true startership at $35 instead of $50.
Heck, the interior of the 100-series is as Spartan as it gets without much luxury at all and unlike the 300-series where each variant has its own internal color scheme; the 100-series variants all look exactly the same on the inside and have little to no light. As I recall the bed was also supposed to retract into the wall but CIG hasn't bothered to fix it since release of the ship and the panel remains dead. At $50 for a 100i it would have been nice to have a few more amenities but the interior space is incredibly small. Still, I wouldn't mind a small slide-out Porta-Potti and a small weapon rack for a single rifle. At present time it only has a very tiny comparetment on the exterior but it looks more like one of those mini-safes you find in hotel rooms.
Still, ships like the 100-series, the Pisces, and the Titan can actually store cargo; unlike the actual starter ships (Aurora-series and Mustang Alpha). It's very odd why CIG never bothered to fix these ships as they could simply attach some Stor-Al containers to the underside in order for the ships to ferry some cargo for the time being while CIG works on a more permanent fix.

The 100i barely need any polishing passage, except for the retractable bed that currently does not work.
It already come with all the components accessible inside and outside like the Gladius. The only missing feature is a locker for when the inventory will be physicalized, but it has working ship inventory. This video was right on point, unlike your last podcast, EP 36. There is more single-player use in Star Citizen than the multiplayer content you were talking about in the podcast. People will often play the game according to their playstyle and allotted time. If I were to give statistics that only CIG has, I would say 80% single-player, 20 multiplayer.
Note: The Pisces and Mustang Alpha have no beds, which is a considerable negative. I agree that the Aurora is the best starter ship for price and use to begin in-game.

  • @mattiber2558

I think the best ships as "starters", once they get their cargo trunks, are going to be the Mustang and the Aurora, (the Aurora #1, beacuse of the bed),especially if the trunk is able to carry 3 boxes for delivery missions, and have trays like the Gladius to hold rifles and ammo. I would also say that the Nomad with a ROC would be the great combo for the entry miner.

The 100 series is insane fun and can be spawned from vehicle pads (at least for now in 3.16.1) so its a great ship to consider. Titans are just pure value whether you buy them in game or with cash. Auroras and Mustangs are must haves even if you have bigger ships in the hangar. Sometimes you just need a small ship to zip around or after moving your other ships around, having a start with real fast reclaim time allows you to zip around Stanton without having to wait.
I love my starter ships. Keeping one or two makes a lot of sense even as your fleet grows. Still have my Aurora for now but probably trade it for a 125A once I CCU it away.

Out of all the ships I have seen, I have yet to find one, I would like to have as a daily operator in game... They all have the same general beginning, more like a "cigarette boat" style with stuff involved weapons and so forth... I' like the wider semi awkward style ships not a center cockpit, but off center one. You had made a video that I've been searching for unsuccessfully that talks about it... Ships made that are similar in looks to other games and references... From what I have gathered Star Citizen has some differences to Starfield, for instance, Starfield one cannot loot bodies (got that from your vid btw) and flying around any planet just to do it. be safe Boss...

If I had to start over it would be the Avenger Titan instead of the Cutty Black but the black came with LTI and I was willing to spend 100 bucks to get the capability upgrade for cargo and claim jumper missions. I bought the Pisces C8X as an LTI token holder for later upgrade and kinda fell in love with the Star Citizen Minivan. I figure if the Nomad is the Star citizen Pickup Truck, the Pisces is the dodge caravan with the rear seats removed for cargo.
    .
Even being Concierge now, I'd still start a friend off in the Avenger Titan for a First ship or myself if I HAD to start from zero.

Personally speaking, I think that the CNOU Nomad far surpasses the Avenger in terms of value for cost.
While it may cost $95 for the full starter pack and thus be at the very upper edge of what one might consider a "starter" ship, what you get in exchange is a vessel that is not only capable of carrying a significant amount of cargo, but can carry any of the Cyclone variants, a gravbike, or the Greycat ROC, which is even more of an efficiency multiplier when you consider how lucrative planetary mining can be. Beyond that, the ship is exceptionally well armed with three Size 3 mounts and the maneuverability to make comfortable use of fixed weaponry should the player so choose, it even has a pair of Size 4 missile racks to add a significant amount of missile firepower to the already respectable gun armament.
Besides that, it has longer legs than the Avenger with many magnitudes more Hydrogen Fuel capacity and a not-inconsiderate amount of Quantum Fuel capacity advantage, it's even better protected with three Size 1 shield generators.
Finally, it gets everything a solo player could want with a fully realized living area, bed and kitchen included, which is something to seriously consider when you think about how you'll need to keep your character fed and hygienic.

I started with an Aurora and hated it. Besides feeling small and cramped it was too buggy. Getting thrown out into space just for getting out of bed or opening my inventory got really old.
Upgraded to the Titan and felt way more at home, absolutely worth the extra few bucks.

And at 400k, why wouldn't you buy one in game. I'm firmly on the Titan soap box. Bang for buck it's the most versatile/capable ship that I'd classify as a starter. It's also gotten a rework so it functions well, which is more than you can say for the poor Reliant series. On top of that, the view from the titan cockpit is fantastic.

I was only going to get one ship I started the game at IAE 2021 (or 51 in game LOL ) so I got the mustang as it was $5 cheaper I found out quick that it was not a ship that I will be happy in for long. so I upgraded it to the Titan which made it a far better ship that front Gat rips through bounties just ran out of ammo quick, so I changed it to a repeater . this is my now starter / server reset ship.
the problem then was at IAE I got to fly other NICE ships I tested other fighters I liked the Buccaneer but for the front screen was hard to see through. and then fell in love with the Sabre ...SO.......
Yep you got it but I got that spartan with LTI first then upgraded it to the Sabre. this biggest problem is your eyes start to look at the next ship and how to get it. mining you say ok I rented a prospector and found I couldn't mine Quantum without changing the mining heads ..... SO.... I thought it would be great to have my own ... looked at it in game and looked at how much time it would take ........ Yep I got one too LOL not in game I mined my way to $5mil renting an Andromeda to deliver my cargo and got a MSR in game which made me feel very happy . now I can mine and deliver without renting :)
So even thought the Prospector is a lot more than the other starters it will help people get the next ship 3 runs will get you $700,000 easy $70,000 to rent a Andromeda .
So I would go with a Prospector as a first ship , just whish it was cheaper.

The Titan and Nomad are considered to be starters by CIG and are sold with game packages (even thou the Nomad just to events). That's in big contrast to the 300i which for whatever reason is not considered to be a starter by CIG. And while small jump points might be useful few ships will have to fuel to travel through multiple of them. Oh and the 125a has just more missiles and is more maneuverable but it's not really worth it over the 100i as the guns are the same.

About the Jump points I still think they are useful in some situations, there will be systems that are connected through small jump points and if you want to reach the other one with a big ship you'd have to jump through 3 or 4 other systems
You will be able to easily get to that system and once there, if you have the money, you can simply order your big ship to get sent (uhh... shipped?) to you so you don't have to spend time taking the long route if you don't want to, pretty specific use but, eh
I do believe they will also make some environments suited only for small ships (like caves both in atmo and in big asteroids)
