I always thought during alone time I was gonna find myself, my purpose or something like that but nothing. I enjoy being alone but it’s not as glamorous or revealing as people make it seem. Hey abayo ! So happy to see you vibrant and well. You’ve always seemed so sincere, kind and deeply intelligent, which is why i always gravitated towards your channel over the years. I really resonate with this video because I too had somewhat of an eat pray love journey and wow I definitely have similar sentiments. People would ask me “what are you up to” and I would never know how to answer that question. In such a external result based world, how do you explain or show all the inner work you’ve been doing? Either way its for you and only you. It only shows to others with time I suppose, but I can feel it with you masha’allah, you look so much more assured and at peace. Through my travels, I found that what I was seeking was me and within me, and that a change in environment was only a temporary bandaid unless coupled with inner change. I learned so much about letting go, patience, being at peace in the now, really curating what I truly love and want, and sitting in the knowing that no matter how unclear or upsetting things are, Allah will show me the way. There is this indescribable feeling that comes with this type of inner work and reflection and honestly I believe it is what “an-nafs al muthmainnah” (the soul at peace) is about. I’ll end this long comment with two quotes that really changed things for me: “Wherever you go, there you are” and “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”. They seem simple enough but trust me when I say the most basic and “cheesy” of advice can be so monumental when you are in alignment with them and ready to actually download their wisdom. There is difference between learning and embodiment. Anyways for anyone who is reading this, i pray that Allah swt blesses you with the wisdom to know just how okay you are right now in this moment. You are blessed. You are living life right now. Don’t worry about your desires, the goals you have or may not have, you’ve already received them. They are already on their way, so focus on what is within you. So when you get what is externally already yours, you have the capacity to fully receive it. ❤
I resonate with so many aspects that you touched on in this video 😭. As a recent expat (U.S. -> Europe) there’s been so much beauty in the “discovery of it all”; people, places, culture, myself. I realized my love of (intentional) solitude, community, and the concept of “home” being where I say it is because that’s what feels right…not because I happened to be raised in a certain area. It was almost like I was mentally rejecting the idea of being in a new country and the path that I was on. It has improved in recent years, but I still have my ups and downs where I don't know what to do with the quiet in my house and my head, with my life once the print runs out because now it's up to me to decide what's next. I've spent my youth wishing to leave home and become an adult, but once I did, I froze, and nothing turned out as I expected. Its a daunting path to adulthood but i will try to enjoy the journey a lot more.
I'm 37 woman from San Diego, and I'm looking to travel more, the only problem is people around me have different schedules and I want to travel with friends and family members. I did travel a couple of times, and I can't wait to hear from your dairy. maybe it encourages me to not be scared to travel alone.
Hi gal, this comment really spoke to me as I’ve just came back from a solo trip. I have always wanted to do a solo trip but never got around to doing it however this year I decided it was the year. I recoded the whole trip and I’m editing the video right now with a smile on my face:)). It was one of the best experiences of my life! I will definitely be doing more solo travel trips soon! The way I see it, we have one life. If we keep waiting for someone to travel with we us we are missing out on the fun we could be having and the beautiful memories we could be creating. So take it from a woman who is also in her thirties and go see the WORLD 😊💕
It is worth it to go even if you are shy and worried about loneliness. I’m a reserved person and I decided to go to Europe alone. There have been moments that I can’t imagine replicating at home. It’s shifted my mindset and shown me that I am much stronger and more free than I had believed. You may have days where you wish you had a companion, but if you travel at your own pace you will be fine being alone. Explore, rest, and enjoy. Of course, be sure you are going to places that are safe for solo women. I’ve appreciated having someone at home who knows where I am & who I can check in with as needed. It’s beautiful to travel! Edited to add: I’m also very slight and not physically strong. I look young. I was worried about my physical size being an issue, but it hasn’t. I avoid very crowded and sketchy areas, and I need to rest more often than someone more robust might, but that’s all.

I just got evicted from my expen$$$ive subleased room I rented from a family..but I got to stay at the mosque Allhamdullilah for 3 weeks. Now I am leaving to my sisters house in Mexico until I am approved for low income housing. I don't want it to be a sad thing so this eat pray love vibe is what I needed. JAZAKALLAH SISTER.
I also would love to travel for a while as long as I don't have certain responsibilities like paying bills and so on.. but idk how to handle it financially since I am just a student right now who works in part time. And my parents don't allow me travel alone, but I really want to experience being abroad for a while. Any tips?
