    Ducati's built a smaller, less expensive version of its race-replica machine for those who didn't need or couldn't afford the ultimate in Italian Sports... but that doesn't make the 959 Panigale less desirable, just easier to afford. It's still offers excellent performance, great handling and incredible electronics, and will save you thousands over a 1299 Panigale.
    Check out Cycle Torque's full test in the December 2016 issue - download it free - to find out why the 959 Panigale might just be the perfect Ducati for you.

    A sports bike is not necessarily uncomfortable. BMW S1000RR is surprisingly comfortable and one can ride it all day long without any problems.

      You might be able to ride an S 1000 RR all day. Mortals can't.

      agreed..... the RSv4 seats you closer to the handle bars so it puts less strain on the lower back, but the wrist and knees still get put through the ringer...
      Sport Touring bikes are a lot more comfortable than both the RSV4 and S1000RR , and once you've owned one there is no way you could ever say the S1000RR is a comfortable bike

    Either that rider is really tall, or that bike is hilariously tiny. A great value until you need to get the valves inspected every year or two.

    • @cycletorquedotcom
      @cycletorquedotcom  7 років тому

      I'm 185cm or 6'1". The bike is very small, like a Supersport. Ducati has extended the time between valve clearance checks in recent years.

      Just J yeah you’re wrong on valves. I owned a 959 and now V4. Go check the maintenance frequency on values for anything Ducati starting in Like 2015 and beyond. Verses before that. You will quickly see they do not need to be done anywhere near what you are thinking.

    Hi there,
    do you think is wise to jump to this bike from CBR 400 RR? I have been ridden it for nearly 6 years now and now is thinking to upgrade. Would it be "safer" to get my hand on the new R6 instead of this? Cheers mate and appreciate the reply.

    This is literally one of the worst motorcycle reviews I've ever seen in my life. Ducati makes premium Italian sportbikes, lusted after by millions around the world. To capitalize on this, you decide to drape somebody's Grandpa over the seat, inject him full of tranquilizers, and then ask him to talk about why he likes the bike. I've heard people talk about granola with more enthusiasm than this guy. Please have someone with a resting heart rate above 30 do the next review

  • @touristguy87
    @touristguy87 7 років тому +1

    "but how often can you really use that power?!?"
    It's not about peak power. You have 10,000 rpm more or less to use. What percentage of the 1299's power does the 959 make at each RPM, and what is the road speed vs rpm for each bike? Given that the 959 weighs even more than the 1299, peak power is hardly the issue. It's the power away from peak power that really matters, after the cost of course. And the wider tire for the 1299.

    is it good for beginners?

    • @cycletorquedotcom
      @cycletorquedotcom  7 років тому

      Entertaining and fun - No. Buy a Monster or Scrambler. Easier to ride and more fun to learn on.

    • @samuels4130
      @samuels4130 7 років тому

      But I really like this style , I can just get it and put it on wet mode to keep the horsepower down. And just take it slow .

    • @cycletorquedotcom
      @cycletorquedotcom  7 років тому +6

      Entertaining and fun - you won't enjoy it. The suspension, chassis and riding position work when the bike is being pushed hard and ridden fast. Do that as a learner and you'll crash your brains out, get arrested or both. If you really want this style, go racing - that's what sports bikes are ultimately for. Learn to ride fast, then buy a fast bike.

    • @samuels4130
      @samuels4130 7 років тому

      My brother never ride a bike and he got 2011 Ducati evo 848 cc, he started slow and he still has it and driving it with no problem.

    • @cycletorquedotcom
      @cycletorquedotcom  7 років тому +10

      Entertaining and fun justify it anyway you like, it's your decision. But if you don't want advice, don't phrase your questions like you do. I think it would be a stupid bike for a learner to buy.

    Did anybody else get really nervous watching the first 20 seconds of this video?? Seeing the guy turning into the corner whilst trail braking on a white line!? Recipe for a big low-side shaped disaster. That bike got veeeeery twitchy!

    • @jameskalas16
      @jameskalas16 6 років тому +1

      Cycle Torque well I know I wouldn’t bother risking doing anything on white lines as they are like glass. The fact that you can see the front end twitching says it all. Especially at the relatively low speed.

    I've owned several Ducatis, but I disagree with this review. The 959 has too many compromises over the 1299 for the price. It loses way too much for the price point, no way is it 'excellent value for money', it is much more than a Japanese litre bike. "although you don't have the electronic active suspension that comes on the 1299, especially the 1299 S", hmmm, that would be ONLY the 1299 S.
