I used to be like that, but I stopped doing that because every time i fix it later, i break something else lmao. just take twice as long now so i dont have to troubleshoot later.

Anyone with experience will tell you this : The only later that will come is you debuggin your mess, kinda fix it and it still being bad, and never finishing it correctly because you always have more projects.

@@benwu7980 i learned to do maintenance on aircraft from 1965, percussive maintenance does always win indeed. Either it fixes the problem the system has or it fixes your problem of having to work at least till you get a new component.

Literally 1 of my favorite LTT videos right here. You can script and pre do content only so far, but this kind of comedy interaction between you all is gold dust. Infra buildouts, company tech problems, real life stuff coupled with this dynamic is perfect.
The dynamic is so great, I haven't laughed this hard at an LTT video in a while. Reminds me of my early IT days hanging with the interns teasing the boss
The fact that Dan has gone from new hire to Colton and Jake status in what seems like a few months really makes me excited to see any content he works on. He's like Tynan - but less likely to accidentally create an EMP in your shop...

If they have a proper fluke cable certifier it tells you the length of the run
It was likely measured approximately using a TDR (Time-domain reflectometer) on one side, not a measuring tape or anything end to end.
And Linus saying it could be helpful is nonsense. It won't be helpful.

It was nice seeing this after I just finished setting up a Ubiquiti network for work in our new building. I absolutely love their products and cloud dashboard. Very intuitive product.

As an ex datacenter nerd, I love watching these videos of you guys having a good time figuring out infrastructure stuff. Unconventional setup for sure, but that's half the fun!

My OCD would have made it all look pretty and at the very least Labeled every cable @ both ends LOL
@@WoodUCreate Also apparently bringing the cable bundles that come down from the ceiling in through the cabinets far side panel rather than in through the hole in the cabinet roof. Also giving themselves approx 3 or 4 inches at the front of the cabinet for all their cables connecting to all their switch ports and patch panels. Also if I was involved, I would not be jamming all their networking gear into one cabinet in quite a large room. Also, you would be surprised how much heat comes off dense 10Gb switch gear, they may want that AC installed sooner rather than later.
I've groaned so many times watching these videos. lol.
Watching them do racks is fucking painful. They're basically all just hobbyists getting to mess with this stuff for the first time, without realizing why certain things are the way they are.
We already know how to do everything they're doing. Almost like, most IT practices exist for practical reasons.
They're basically learning all of these lessons the hard way, when Linus could just hire a consultant that could organize all of this in a short period of time. It would cost less *overall* to have someone do it correctly the first time - even if you pay more upfront.
I unironically really actually did like this format of video. Just seeing the progress on the new facility is really fun to watch (same as the house updates). doesn't really matter what the videos themselves are about specifically (although I am a sucker for networking stuff like this), it's just nice to see the progress and to slowly watch it all come together. Keep it up!
the house ones kind of evolved into linus being an example in why smart homes are more complex and hassles then they are worth and super tech geeks are not good at being normal.

Honestly, I love seeing the big basically enterprise level maintenance tasks getting done. Makes for a good relatable video for any of us who have gone into a server room and had to rewire or troubleshoot.
And it's interesting for us that haven't, but wonder how it can look when you scale it up a notch before going full data center.
It's great fun watching the three of 'ya messing with stuff in these kinda videos!
Getting things done with this energy is such a great way to spend a day in your life.

But with bud there’s no bad decisions (Aside from forgetting munchies) and instead of regret you’re improving your mood.

I think that Dan has proven to be the most entertaining hire since Alex. Every time he is in a video he just kicks it up to eleven, just by being himself it seems. Years ago, when I was young, my two best friends and I did SO MANY projects together that always descended into chaos like this. This was great fun to watch because it reminded me of good times. Thanks Linus, Dan, and Jake.

I gotta give props to LTT for the bomb subtitles on their videos. Audio processing is hard for me sometimes and it helps exponentially.

There is a metal thing called "cage nut inserter tool" which helps to insert the cage nut to the rack with one move, and also your finger in safety ;) The thing what I'm talking about looks like an PCI slot cover, but with bent ends (and it costs only a few bucks)
Love those super-thin CAT 6 cables! I was so afraid of using them at first, but for how short the runs are, they work amazingly well!
That was hilarious. Both Dan and Linus had their own preference of organising and Jake's like; "IDGAF". Also, Dan is an absolute TREASURE and must be protected at all costs!

He's not wrong. Best bit of advice I had with a motherboard that I was struggling to fit into an old case was to "try SMASHING it into the I/O panel".

this is with out a doubt one of the funiest LTT vids for a long time
I remember watching LTT since I was around 12 years old, which is since about 2010. Seeing to what this chanel has grown into is absolutely wild, and I'm here for every minute of it. These past few months feel like a very momentous moment in history for both LTT and also the UA-cam tech space. Having a look at the type and amount of work Linus and his team have put in, I could very well imagine LTT being THE biggest player in the electronics review space, hopefully displacing the oversaturated sphere of online-media, that only post half-informative reviews, with very little actual testing and info about real world perfomance. Wanna see how a headphone compares to others? Go to LTT! Wanna know what is the best bang for your buck GPU in 2034? Go to LTT! I can absolutely envision a future, where almost all reputable brands will post stuff like "LTT certified" or "4/5 stars given by LTT" and that carrying some major weight. I really hope this genuine and honest approach to tech will have a positive impact on the tech space all together and I fell, we as the consumers, are better off that way!
imho video format makes people just to be passive consumers and stops "critical thinking neurons" from lighting up properly (not enough time between inputs).
