Hardly a horror movie. Alien Romulus was a fine, inoffensive action movie but it has absolutely nothing on the atmosphere of the original Alien and Aliens.
The amount of clowns praising Alien Romulus is peak internet. The movie was complete trash and anyone who knows anything about the Alien lore and universe knows that Romulus shit all over it. Alientards are always going to Alientard I guess.
@@aninaithani4234 It’s fairly generic. The new Alien wasn’t exactly a groundbreaking movie like the original was and it didn’t have to be. Calling it a horror film is a bit of a stretch though. It’s more akin to Aliens. It’s got great visuals and production quality but the movie was just decent

I watched oddities from your suggestion and was not let down. Great vibes and interesting story and characters. Got me spooked for a bit there and that rarely happens.
really just waiting for terrifier 3 and smile 2 to come to amazon prime. I liked Late Night with the Devil I thought that one was a pretty trippy with the whole late night show bit. Longlegs wasn't too bad. feel like I only liked it cus I was on shrooms.
I haven't seen all of these but I think this is the first time I've ever agreed completely with any reviewer on their assessments. Had to subscribe since we seem to have very similar tastes and I'm looking for new stuff to watch.
I know you plan on revisiting the list and you mentioned a few of the movies that have either come out since you made it or will come out before the end of the year, but you also missed a couple that came out before the video was made,.. like Alien: Romulus (which was awesome). Also, you mentioned M Night-Shamalyon, but you didn’t review his offering this year… or his daughter’s (Trap and The Followers, respectively). Those films were not great, but should be up there. I hope you include them in your updated list
Love your list I think you are hard on some films I loved this is the year of horror like Maxxine and Immaculate love these year so far gonna check out some the films you saw like Oddity and Cockoo but you gotta to include the Substance, Speak No Evil and Strange Darling keep on the good content!!!
Man, you made a very nice job ranking those horror movies from 2024. And I agree with most of you rankings. ___However you forgot to include a coupe really good horrors released this year >>> 1) STrange Darling (weird, twisted, good visuals) ; 2) Starve Acre (that was very intense and dark, slow burn horror); and 3) Substance - must be on your list too.
You must hate the Alien franchise if you liked “Alien Romulus” because it shit all over the lore of the first two movies and had MANY scenes that made literally zero sense whatsoever like Simple Black Jack….I mean Andy calling the Alien a “bitch”(literally the line Sigourney Weaver uses in “Aliens” , a movie that takes place after the events of this movie). The movie was absolute trash and per usual the only thing people can say is that it looked good on screen….as if that is some sort of compliment.
The first omen was such a pleasant surprise... I didn't have much hopes for it to be decent but I love the franchise, even the direct to video sequel. The remake is the only one I hate
Totally disagree on Longlegs, that one didnt resonate with me at all, but otherwise loved this video and learned about a few movies that look very interesting.
I'm gearing up to do a part 2 of my horror tier list since I made this one in early Sept. Substance will be included in part 2 and spoiler alert... it's an S.
(Possible spoilers) I agree with you on Longlegs for the same exact reason the atmosphere and the vibe of the movie was perfect. I’ve watched it like 5 times now. However I purchased Oddity after you gave it an A and man I’m sorry I respect your opinion but I hate movies that end like that without the payoff(sorry I hope that isn’t too much of a spoiler). Once that song started playing I just knew it was going to be a left open to the viewers interpretation trope which I can’t stand 😂. Good list still 🙏
This year has given us fantastic horror movies like The Substance, actually if you want to see it, please don't eat anything as the movie some disturbing scenes. On the other hand, I can't wait to see Terrifier 3, the guy, who plays Art the Clown, would be a great Joker after Joaquin Phoenix played this iconic role.
Abigail & Lisa Frankenstein belong on the worst horror movies of 2024 ranked. The other two; strange Darling, a quiet place, and lowlifes look like they might be pretty good but they also look extremely predictable. Lowlifes looks like a drab non musical version of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' (Can we use your phone?).
The fact you put “A Quiet Place” in your list makes you lose all credibility. The movie literally was an SNL skit written by the most woke, DEI obsessed clowns. It was bad enough that we had to follow around one of the most unlikeable and truly moronic protagonists a horror movie has ever centered around but the entire cat thing made me outright hate the movie. Per usual the trashholes in Pedowood who wrote this movie don’t understand that a good monster movie, ESPECIALLY ONE WITH AN ALREADY PRE-ESTABLISHED UNIVERSE should center around the fkn monsters and not the androgynous clown in hospice care who is obsessed with pizza and FENTANYL. God that movie was such shit.
Great list man! Longlegs was my favorite of the year so far. You should keep "The Substance" and "Presence" on your radar for when they come out. Heard they're really good supposedly.
Agreed, Longlegs was so damn good. I’ll be checking out The Substance on Friday and can’t wait for that. I’ll have to look into Presence. Another one I’m looking forward to at the end of the month is a movie called “Sleep.”
Ran into this video by accident but I am confused on how Strangers was worse then In a Violent Nature. In a Violent nature was the worst horror film I've ever paid money for. To each their own I guess.
Longlegs in the top3 horror movies of the year is crazy work 😂💀 I was hardly ever more disappointed in a movie ever. I wouldn't even call it a horror movie. And nicolas cages character is just goofy tbh
Long legs and LNWTD should not be in the same tier. Longlegs was masterfully shot and acted but the writing turned into nonsense after the second half. LNWTD is consistently good and has one of the best endings of the year
The strangers for me as difficult simply because when we watch a slasher that dips into the survival/thriller category, we HATE to see the characters make bad decisions because then it’s not just the killers being smart but the characters being dumb. It makes it less believable. Long legs….mannnn that atmosphere was solid, the prolonging of revealing the killers face was awesome, he was creepy! It was soo good! I just sort of feel like it could have used “some” supernatural elements without having the ending go into a full blown supernatural finale. I liked the mystery elements the first half
Not trying to nitpick, just a friendly critique. Longlegs was your favorite movie of the year, so it should probably be an S. I always felt like you need to set a standard when doing these tier rankings, you need an S and you need a D. If you don't have one, you don't have a true basis for comparison
That's totally fair, and I genuinely appreciate the feedback. You're not alone in being irritated that I didn't include S-Tier. In my defense, I did put two movies in the D category (Strangers and Deliverance). As far as S-Tier is concerned, I consider S-Tier to be cream of the crop special films, and as much as I loved Longlegs, I don't think it's S-Tier. Also, I said it was one of my favorites, not my favorite. My favorite movie of the year is Strange Darling, which I would put in an S-Tier. Same with Dune Part 2. But I do see your point. I probably shouldn't hold up S-tier to ultra perfection standards. I will definitely keep this in mind for my next one. Thanks for watching and giving me feedback 😃.
I actually prefer keeping the S-tier reserved for only the absolute best of the best. These should be the rare, masterpiece-level films that truly deserve it. If your favorite movie didn’t make the S-tier that year, it just means the A-tier was the highest quality you experienced that year, which is still great. I appreciate that you’re distinguishing between movies you really enjoyed and those that are genuinely on another level. Not every favorite film has to be an S-tier contender if it doesn’t reach that level. If you’re given a few average movies, you don’t need to force your favorite into the S-tier just because it was better than the others. Your rating system is solid, and I’m glad you keep that distinction. Maybe to avoid complaints, you could briefly explain your rating criteria upfront to set expectations.
Honestly, I don't think there were any S-Tier horror movies this year. In my mind, if it's gonna be in S-Tier, it needs to contain an element that is considered master-crafted. Whether that be the special effects, or the atmosphere, or the acting, or the originality, something has to be so well-done and perfectly executed, that it leaves a mark that other movies try to aspire to. I consider The Thing to be an S-Tier movie. Even though there are plenty of elements that could be considered to be "mediocre", the special effects are legendary, the creature designs are unparalleled, and the setting is perfect to execute the feeling of isolation and distrust it was going for. There will never be a movie that does everything perfectly, but there are movies that do SOMETHING perfectly. Those are S-Tier movies, and they are extraordinarily rare in the horror genre. Edit: The Substance might be an S-tier movie honestly. Holy damn it was good.
Rotten tomatoes has let me down too many times this year with horror films. Watched oddity and late night with devil. Did not bother finishing either. Saw strange darling and it seriously tried to act like it was better than it actually is. Im so tempted to watch longlegs but so scared I'll be let down once again.

The atomosphere of the Romulus was awesome dude I have no idea what you’re talking about. The original alien movie is a great movie but watch it now dude it’s a bit dated
WOW FIRST TIME EVER IVE SEEN A TIER-LIST MATCH EXACTLY WITH HOW ID ARRANGE IT; HAVENT SEEN A FEW OF YOUR ITEMS THO WITH THE EXCEPTION OF LONGLEGS, WHICH I'D PUT AT A B
BRAVO!
I was very pleasantly surprised by stopmotion. Maybe because I went in expecting nothing, but I thought it was pretty good
How many times have I seen Longlegs?
Not onceee not twiceee but as many times as I'd LIIIKKEEEEEEEE
I think in a violent nature had been the best horror movie I’ve ever seen. Very metaphorical.
Totally agree with you about Lovely, Dark, and Deep. Solid. Love me some cosmic horror.
Smile 2 clears all so far I fear.
Please add Strange Darling, The Substance, and Terrifier 3.
The First Omen made no sense in the end. I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, but there’s a lot of continuity questions raised by it.
Def made before the release of Terrifier 3! Because that film is now certifiably a box office SLASH/SMASH
Smile definitely up there
I haven't seen all of these but I think this is the first time I've ever agreed completely with any reviewer on their assessments. Had to subscribe since we seem to have very similar tastes and I'm looking for new stuff to watch.
BOOM! THANK YOU-
LEGIT AF SO FAR!
Smile 2 was awesome!
Agreed! I did a October tier list that includes Smile 2. Loved it
I know you plan on revisiting the list and you mentioned a few of the movies that have either come out since you made it or will come out before the end of the year, but you also missed a couple that came out before the video was made,.. like Alien: Romulus (which was awesome).
"Scary" us definitely subjective. I found Oddity to not be really scary at all, and Late Night with the Devil scarier for sure.
Oddity is creepy more but it did it for me
And I loved late night with the devil so much 💥
I feel like late night with the devil was one of those movies that extremely entertaining and good, but the final act fails to deliver
It was definitely out there. Just too many ideas at once that just made the ending feel congested for lack of a better word.
@dudewhy6953 good way to put it 👍🏻
Didn't realise that the devil was in the background (visible) about 11 times in Longlegs throughout the film.
Thanks for pointing out the stupid color correction of Oddity... this was the reason I turned it off, but now I'll give it another try!
IAVN had some gnarly kills.
That "yoga" scene was WILD
Blink twice, smile 2, long legs are my favorite for this year
Man, you made a very nice job ranking those horror movies from 2024.
Thanks for this! Been wondering what to watch
Also not sure when this was made but I would definitely include Alien Romulus on this list and put it in A tier
@@FlatEarthOracle It'sall subjective and you're free to dislike Romulus but to suggest anyone who likes it must hate the franchise is just plain dumb
The first omen was such a pleasant surprise... I didn't have much hopes for it to be decent but I love the franchise, even the direct to video sequel. The remake is the only one I hate
totally agree with your rankings!
Just found your channel, great analysis, love horror, agree with most of all of it! Great to find a solid horror loving channel!
Totally disagree on Longlegs, that one didnt resonate with me at all, but otherwise loved this video and learned about a few movies that look very interesting.
We all agree The Substance is S-tier, right? Ok, good.
I'm gearing up to do a part 2 of my horror tier list since I made this one in early Sept. Substance will be included in part 2 and spoiler alert... it's an S.
I’m really surprised seeing lots of people disappointed by Longlegs. Personally I absolutely loved it and it’s movie of the year for me.
Best year for horror ❤
(Possible spoilers)
I agree with you on Longlegs for the same exact reason the atmosphere and the vibe of the movie was perfect. Good list still 🙏
alien romulus should be in the list
Dang, I've seen all the As already. I was hoping I missed a banger
1. The Substance S-Tier
2. Alien Romulus A-Tier
3. The First Omen A-Tier
4. Longlegs B-Tier
5. Trap B-Tier
5. A Quiet Place Day One C-Tier
No terrifier 3? Guessing you’re missing out because it’s on many horror fans film lists as being the best horror movie of this year.
the video was made 4 weeks ago dummy
Is it really horror though?
@@lxNOLUCAwell, yeah
No chick fil a sauce?
That movie wasn't even out yet when this video was made
In a violent nature B-Tier is insane
Longlegs was pretty good, but The Blackcoat's Daughter is miles better if you want a horror movie from the same director.
Now THAT is a horror film
You missed a couple big horrors: Abigail, Lisa Frankenstein, strange Darling, a quiet place, and lowlifes
@@BritPopSnob Abigail was great. Stop doing drugs.
Abigal and lowlifes are both good @@BritPopSnob
@@endwigast5212yeah I loved it
This is a really great list. Agreed on all the ones I’d seen and got me excited to watch some of the others
Was this video made before Smile 2, Alien Romulus, and Speak No Evil were released?
Late Night was amazing.
Oh damn, Presence is Soderberg and it’s written by David Koepp. Sign me up!!!
just saw the ad for presence. i love period creepiness
Ran into this video by accident but I am confused on how Strangers was worse then In a Violent Nature. In a Violent nature was the worst horror film I've ever paid money for. To each their own I guess.
Longlegs in the top3 horror movies of the year is crazy work 😂💀
I was hardly ever more disappointed in a movie ever.
I wouldn't even call it a horror movie.
And nicolas cages character is just goofy tbh
Yeah, bad casting and too much exposition
i thought longlegs was mid, but the opening scene was one of the best opening scenes in horror i’ve ever seen
ODDITY is my favorite horror movie of the year so far.
Cuckoo is a decent movie this year for me
Long legs and LNWTD should not be in the same tier. Longlegs was masterfully shot and acted but the writing turned into nonsense after the second half. LNWTD is consistently good and has one of the best endings of the year
great reviewwwwwww
Spot on Reviews.👌 Not overly critical but still tells it exactly like it is. Fantastic descriptions.🤌
In a violent nature has by far been my favorite movie this year. Terrifier 3 might take the cake tho, we will see lol
Saw Terrifier 3 on Thursday and it is wild! Review coming soon. Hope you enjoy it!
In a violent nature
In a strong. trip 🎉😂
Holy damn it was good.
terrifier 3 might be the only S this year.
Rotten tomatoes has let me down too many times this year with horror films. Watched oddity and late night with devil. Did not bother finishing either. Saw strange darling and it seriously tried to act like it was better than it actually is. Im so tempted to watch longlegs but so scared I'll be let down once again.
You'll be let down bigtime. After all the hype and noise, it was the biggest disappointment. I tried to like it but i just couldn't.
i would give Cuckoo an A, but that's a personal preference
Longlegs was disappointing
Cuckoo and the substance were beyond my expectations
