Night of the living dead is pretty important not only for starting the zombie craze that’s really never ended in pop culture, but also for having a black protagonist which is pretty crazy considering the time the film came out.

The Wicker Man is an absolute masterpiece. As someone who spent half of last year hosting a deep dive nearly 14 hour long podcast on the film it's place in the horror cannon is absolutely deserved. Most modern folk horror owes a debt to The Wicker Man and even then, especially with The Final Cut, no other film has the same atmosphere, a lot of which is due to the incredible music work from Paul Giovanni and Magnet.

With that said, it's still a solid film with probably one of the best horror scores from Jerry Goldsmith and Gregory Peck taking the material seriously enough to give a very good performance.

You sold yourself short by not finishing 'The Incredible Shrinking Man'; the film shifts tone about half-way through from the awkwardly comedic (climaxing with a scene with a cat which is both terrifying and hilarious at the same time) to a really gripping and existentialist survival story with a beautifully and uncompromisingly philosophical ending.
Resurrection (2022) is the Hereditary of this decade and hardly ANYBODY is talking about it!! Rebecca Hall is AMAZING in it, and the film is psychologically disturbing af!!

Honestly the list isn't too bad. I do think there's kind of an underrepresentation of non-Hollywood, especially Asian films. And some very questionable individual placements (the Thing lol). I also think for better or for worse one of the most important and influential horror films of this century is "Saw" and it's kinda surprising it wasn't on the list at all

There's too many movies from the 21st century missing, no animation, lack of asian films. So many great movies like Black Swan, The Lighthouse, Under the Skin, Midsommar, Climax, Suspiria (2018), American Psycho, The Host, Godzilla Minus One, Coraline, Thrist, 28 days later, a Tale of Two Sisters, Sunshine, Cure, Perfect Blue. And don't tell me that I named movies that some might not considered horror, and sure I agree, when the list also has a bunch of films that are more thrillers than horror movies.
Its a crime to show Suspiria's template in black and white knowing the fact its one of the most visualy stiking and colorful movies ever made and one of the last technicolor movies.
Heartbreaking that Hausu isn't on here. I also felt The Thing and a few others were way too low. The Shining should've been in the top 5. Newest horror movie I would've added is It Follows. Also Night of the Living Dead is great, I get it, it introduced the world to zombies, but both DAWN and DAY are even better.
I also think perfect blue was a snub, maybe since it's animated it didn't fit the criteria, but that movie is so good at fucking with your brain and making you double guess to whether what or if anything is real or hallucination

Invasion of the Body Snatchers ('78) truly disturbed me as a teen and I've never mustered the nerve to rewatch it. While I've re-watched many of the classics listed here. If we're talking scary, that's the one for me. It's completely hopeless.
Lastly, Dead Alive is great and the funniest horror imo
There's too many movies from the 21st century missing, no animation, lack of asian films. So many great movies like Black Swan, The Lighthouse, Under the Skin, Midsommar, Climax, Suspiria (2018), American Psycho, The Host, Godzilla Minus One, Coraline, Thrist, 28 days later, a Tale of Two Sisters, Sunshine, Cure, Perfect Blue. And don't tell me that I named movies that some might not considered horror, and sure I agree, when the list also has a bunch of films that are more thrillers than horror movies.
People have problem with distinguishing horror from thriller all the time.

Its a crime to show Suspiria's template in black and white knowing the fact its one of the most visualy stiking and colorful movies ever made and one of the last technicolor movies.
When you say 'one of the last', you're not kidding. Argento had to hunt for reel ends to use.
Heartbreaking that Hausu isn't on here. I also felt The Thing and a few others were way too low. The Shining should've been in the top 5. Newest horror movie I would've added is It Follows. Also Night of the Living Dead is great, I get it, it introduced the world to zombies, but both DAWN and DAY are even better.

I would say Annihilation should have been on the list. Maybe on the lower side, but definitely should have been there.
Saying Unfriended deserves to be here while questioning why some of the most culturally and historically important horror films of all time are is pretty crazy but honestly I love that energy

"Never seen a best horror of all time list"' my man, you would have loved the multi-night television event that was "Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments" from the early 2000s.
My first question going into this was "how high will The Devil's Backbone be, and will they even count it as a horror movie/what do they count as a horror movie?". Glad I didn't have to wonder for long I guess. It'd be in my top five tho.
