I'm excited to share an all new Mountain Roots Explores episode with you as part of my reboot of the Exploring Appalachia series this fall! Thank you for your patience with me as I finished my first full documentary for PBS. Please share your feedback with me in the comments below, I want to know what you think and where you want me to go next!
The correct pronunciation of any place is what the locals say. You can be forgiven as most foreigners call it either "Lewisville" or "Leweeville". Great video!
@@MountainRoots Yep, to Louisvillians, it's pronounced "Louavul", not 'Lewisville". I don't know why, but it's been the local pronunciation for the last 67 years that I can speak to. Anyways, I enjoy your content.
This was a great video from the beginning to the end. The videography, the narration, the editing, the landscapes and the history lesson were great. I thoroughly enjoy when you give us a glimpse into these towns. Stay safe and keep the videos coming.
I really dig learning about the history of small town America, that was very informative & interesting, well done, you just got yourself a new subscriber from Southern California 🤙🏼
You have a great voice for commentary, your commentary skills reminds me of Morgan Freeman or Robert Stack. You remember Robert Stack from the Unsloved Mysteries Television Show?
Nearly 30 years ago, I worked for the local newspaper in Frankfort and saw the ugly underbelly of racism by my editors. I tried extremely hard to reverse that toxic element but was unsuccessful. The only good that came from living in Frankfort were the friendships I made outside of my job.
It got you to engage with me here in the comments 😉 In all seriousness, after I said it I left it in, hoping it would stir a little conversation in the comments. But you're right, I've typically always pronounced it the other way.

I’ve been told a good bourbon 🥃 is better than fine wine.

McConnell? Any relation?
❤
@3:00 you say "Lewisville". It's "Louieville", named Louisville in honor of King Louis XVI of France.
not exactly. lou-uh-vull is how you pronounce it.
Isnt frankfort more of a bluegrass city, while places like manchester ky, beattyville/booneville ky are appalachians? Not to judge everyone
Yes! It's in the KY Bluegrass region.
Loved the piece but obviously you have never been to Louisville. You would have gotten a lot of strange looks if you called it Lewisville.
I've been there, left that in on purpose to see if anyone was paying attention. Obviously, you were 😜😉
Slick production value content, but the "s" is silent in Louisville. It's pronounced "Louavull" and has been forever...

Kntuckian don't pronounce the "S" in Louisville
