Description:
In this video, raw food chef and author Jennifer Cornbleet introduces you to the food processor, an essential appliance from her raw food kitchen. She demonstrates how easy this appliance makes it to process even tough vegetables easily to use in raw food recipes from her book Raw Food Made Easy for 1 or 2 People.
When you need to slice or shred a large quantity of veggies, nothing beats a food processor. In this lively demonstration video, Jennifer shows you that using a food processor is much faster than slicing by hand, and it takes all the effort out of grating or shredding.
Jennifer takes you on a video "tour" of a typical processor and explores its various blades. She talks about the famous "S-blade" which is used for regular slicing and coarse shredding, as well as the 2mm slicing blade which is used for fine shredding.
A cucumber is the first veggie to get the food processing treatment. You'll watch as Jennifer fits her processor with the thick slicing blade and quickly turns a peeled and seeded cucumber into a pile of gorgeous, even slices.
Next up is hard-to-handle cabbage. Jennifer shows you how to quarter and core a cabbage to prepare it for processing with the 2mm slicing blade. You'll see how the processor's wide feed tube makes it simple and safe to slice mounds of this healthful green veggie.
The final blade that Jennifer demonstrates is the fine shredding disk which she uses to shred carrots and beets into pliant strands. With the help of this appliance, even extremely tough vegetables like beets can be shredded and enjoyed raw.
In conclusion, Jennifer talks about which fresh ingredients can be processed in advance and kept in the refrigerator, always ready to add to salads, sandwiches, wraps, and soups.
At first, a food processor can be a little intimidating. But once you just get started with one, you'll find that it actually makes preparing veggies much simpler.

Maria Zambrano Viggiano That's great, thanks Maria!
Well spoken and easy to understand tutorial. Thank you.
Thank you. Nice tips as I have just unpacked my first food processor. Maybe I will also go in for more raw food to the cooked.
+Newbeing Sounds good, good luck!
Thank you for this
I have a food processor and I have only used it once.
Now that I watched your amazing tutorial I will utilize it now. Thank you again.
Hope it goes well Simone! Enjoy!
Very helpful thanks. We were given a food processor. I had no clue what to use it for. Until this video i didnt know. Great video
Good to hear it, thanks Andrew!
Thanks this was really helpful. My wife got me a kitchen aid food processor for Christmas and I wasn't sure how to use it.
I have the 7 cup version of this food processor. It's great for 2 person households. It's very powerful yet quiet to use. I love it! Makes wonderfully easy nut butters too!
gosh!!! keep making this videos. I don't know how to cook and this is a must to learn. thanks!!
Osterling2k Thank you very much!
Hi from Kyiv, Ukraine. Thank you very much. I learnt a lot from the video. Especially i like the idea of storing shredded vegetables in a fridge for some time. Thanks.
iyalovecky Very welcome
Thank you! Still learning how to be creative with it.
This is very helpful! Thanks, Jennifer.
Very welcome!
Thanks for the help! I also appreciated your technique on how to get through stubborn hard root veggies. I'll have to try slamming it down on the board like that next time.
+o0Jahzara0o Very welcome!
Great video, thanks Jen. I would love to spend some time in the kitchen together, shredding vegetables over a bottle of wine & talking cooking, listening to classical & cool jazz music & discussing topics you find interesting. You probably need to update your website with the copyright et al. I could help you do that & make it better too. Let me know. YUM!!
Just bought one excited to use mine thank you
Sounds great Loretta!
Hi Jennifer. I love your recipes and tips. I have two questions for you. 1st, do you ever miss any cooked food, especially in a winter time? 2nd, when did you start eating all raw? Regards, Marzena
Hi Marzena,
I don't eat all raw. I eat anywhere between 50 and 75% raw. So I love cooked soups in the winter!
Jennifer, thank so much for helpful video!
Very welcome, Glen!
Great, but could you do a video on how to dice peppers, etc? I'm new.
A nice tutorial on basic slicing and shredding for FP newbies like myself. Thanks.
+fretkillrlives Thank you!
Why do you remove the small end of carrot?
Great video, very useful! Thank you for sharing.
So does the small feed tube need to be engaged for slicing to begin?
At 1:50, granted that seeds can make the mixture lose it smoothness, but what if we can’t completely get rid of them, like those of a dragon fruit? Are there any type of processor that specifically leave out the seed during operation? I read somewhere on Healthy Kitchen 101 blog that there are processors that can separate them all, even the seedy fruits. Can you do a review on them?
Great presentation.
Thank you!
Great instruction! Kudos!
Thank you!
You mention that you used custom shredding discs...where do you get those? Thanks :-)
I feel dumb for doing everything by hand with the food processor sitting in the cabinet. Thank you so much for sharing this valuable lesson!
Very welcome!
@@JenniferCornbleet thought i was the only one-you make me feel better now!
loved this
Thanks Lily!
Nice. I wanna buy a food processor now. Now i have one question. What brand of food processor should i buy?
My favorite is Cuisinart!
Thank you!
Good video! I'm liked and share 176 times :D
Thank you! Still learning how to be creative with it.
The worst part is to wash all those blades, containers and others.
Good video! I'm liked and share 176 times :D
Jennifer, thank so much for helpful video!
I throw all of those into the dishwasher & yes, the clear plastic changes aesthetically a little after doing so but it is well worth it! Otherwise I would not be inclined to use my food processor because the time spent washing all of the parts afterward would negate the time I saved by using it in the first place.
Very good
Super vidéo..thanks
Thank you!
Great, but could you do a video on how to dice peppers, etc? I'm new.

If you don't think you can eat all the cabbage in 3 days then you can preserve it by making it into sauerkraut (Which is FILLED with probiotics). It's actually pretty easy too. I'm in the process of making some sauerkraut right now for the first time.
+Theo Artzoglou Sounds good! How was it?
+Jennifer Cornbleet really good actually! I went from not really liking sauerkraut to eating it almost everyday haha. reccomend trying out for sure
Great, thank you
Very welcome!
I have got to get one of these things. I spend forever grating carrots with my cheese grater. Can I also use this to shred cheese?
Sure!
What type of food processor are you using in this video? Im shopping for a wide feed like yours has...
Hi Jennifer, I'm using a Cuisinart 14-cup food processor. It has a wide
feed tube and a narrow one, which is really useful!
Thanks for sharing! 😀
You cut off and threw away the BEST part of the red cabbage - the core. It's great eating and sometimes is even a little tangy. SHEESH!
Mike Simms she threw away a lot of veggies.
TheJeffDGorman Whatever can't be repurposed for other food methods can be put in the compost heap to recycle into the garden.
That's what we do SeikiBrian!! OR for making broth.
TheJeffDGorman Broth (or stock) is a great idea! I could even freeze the "waste" left after making slices until I had enough for a big batch of stock.
That's what we do!
Mix the carrots, red cabbage, juice of half a lemon an a sliced red chilli. Pinch of salt n pepper.
Big dollop of low fat mayo, mix an you have a very fancy looking coleslaw. 😉
I am trying to find instructions for sunbeam food processor 14056 I cannot figure out how to attach slicer
Ok but this isn't about a Sunbeam food processor. You can Google that.
What is this brand
how do i remove the blender bdes from the base. It says lock/unlock then push but it does not seem to work?
Hi Trevor, it depends on the model you have, I would look at the instructions and see what they suggest.
When do you wash the cabbage?
+Patricia Dunn Rinse the whole head before slicing.
Are you using the same blade for the 3 vegetables?
Hi Sandy, the shredding and slicing blade may be used for some, but those 2 blades typically come in a food processor along with the S-blade. Jenny
@@JenniferCornbleet can you use the shredding blade for cabbage as you did for carrots? i would rather have my cabbage finer like the carrot? or will that not work?
This is video doesn't focus on using food processor. Is about cutting cabbage 🥬, beets, carrots.
I have a Alcove food processor. does not eat to turn on. Please Help!!!!
Hi Erlinda, you may have to get in touch with the manufacturer to help with this. Jenny
Good video but am I the only one who eats the cucumber seeds?
theJezBel I am from the UK and I watched the cucumber part with horror. I have NEVER known anyone here to consider the peel to be tough or remove the seeds! We just finely slice it as is. I was horrified since you've taken half of the cucumber and nutrients out of the equation!
lea perrins Lady get a grip ! It's just a cucumber.... :-)
Ian VD
Whilst I agree, I do have a thing about wastage. It evokes a strong reaction in me. I can't see the point in buying something to throw half of it away, especially when all of it holds value.
I take pride in using up all of my food. I get really cross with myself if I allow any food to go off before eating it. I suppose when you are so rigid in this mind set, when I see someone being so carefree about wasting half a cucumber for no reason, it does evoke a strong reaction. I wasn't joking either - I was honestly HORRIFIED by watching the waste hahaha.
I realise what you are getting at but it's the principle, especially since I know people all over are starving. I have a 'no wastage' policy ingrained into my soul I am afraid!
lea perrins That's why I made the comment ..... you need to chill.... it's half a cucumber not even equat to 1/2 of a tomato. :-)
lea perrins She clearly said early in the video that whatever parts aren't used for processing can be used other ways, such as juicing; and for the cucumbers she says she saves the seeds for use in a cucumber dressing or cucumber soup. 2:15. The crisp parts are what's used in the food processor, but nothing is wasted.
nice effort jennifer. keep it up for vegan foods
can I use a food processor to grind poppy seed
Charlotte Pall o
mortar and pestle
Very useful. Thanks :)
Talking about raw foods your last name has two "Corn" & "Beet"(if you remove the 'L' :D)
I think I will rather make do with a mixer grinder ‘cos it takes less space, less cleaning and is less expensive...😅
Good video! I'm liked and share 176 times :D
The worst part is to wash all those blades, containers and others.
kyansitther I got one of those dish washers that does the trick for me. worth your time !!
It sounded kinda loud....
My food processor is a 2 cup one that doesn't even grind almonds...
Bees?
😎😎😎😎
remove the seeds ??????? thats a new one .
I'm a man and I'm not chef at all but where is your gloves and mask and a hat
She’s going to have cabbage for weeks! Don’t think I’d want to eat at her house. 🤢Pass the ice cream!
7 quarts of finely sliced cabbage for a topper on a salad, pretty big salad.
