    Description:
    In this video, raw food chef and author Jennifer Cornbleet introduces you to the food processor, an essential appliance from her raw food kitchen. She demonstrates how easy this appliance makes it to process even tough vegetables easily to use in raw food recipes from her book Raw Food Made Easy for 1 or 2 People.
    When you need to slice or shred a large quantity of veggies, nothing beats a food processor. In this lively demonstration video, Jennifer shows you that using a food processor is much faster than slicing by hand, and it takes all the effort out of grating or shredding.
    Jennifer takes you on a video "tour" of a typical processor and explores its various blades. She talks about the famous "S-blade" which is used for regular slicing and coarse shredding, as well as the 2mm slicing blade which is used for fine shredding.
    A cucumber is the first veggie to get the food processing treatment. You'll watch as Jennifer fits her processor with the thick slicing blade and quickly turns a peeled and seeded cucumber into a pile of gorgeous, even slices.
    Next up is hard-to-handle cabbage. Jennifer shows you how to quarter and core a cabbage to prepare it for processing with the 2mm slicing blade. You'll see how the processor's wide feed tube makes it simple and safe to slice mounds of this healthful green veggie.
    The final blade that Jennifer demonstrates is the fine shredding disk which she uses to shred carrots and beets into pliant strands. With the help of this appliance, even extremely tough vegetables like beets can be shredded and enjoyed raw.
    In conclusion, Jennifer talks about which fresh ingredients can be processed in advance and kept in the refrigerator, always ready to add to salads, sandwiches, wraps, and soups.
    At first, a food processor can be a little intimidating. But once you just get started with one, you'll find that it actually makes preparing veggies much simpler.

I would love to spend some time in the kitchen together, shredding vegetables over a bottle of wine & talking cooking, listening to classical & cool jazz music & discussing topics you find interesting. You probably need to update your website with the copyright et al. I could help you do that & make it better too. Let me know. YUM!!

      I don't eat all raw. I eat anywhere between 50 and 75% raw. So I love cooked soups in the winter!

    At 1:50, granted that seeds can make the mixture lose it smoothness, but what if we can’t completely get rid of them, like those of a dragon fruit? Are there any type of processor that specifically leave out the seed during operation? I read somewhere on Healthy Kitchen 101 blog that there are processors that can separate them all, even the seedy fruits. Can you do a review on them?

      I throw all of those into the dishwasher & yes, the clear plastic changes aesthetically a little after doing so but it is well worth it! Otherwise I would not be inclined to use my food processor because the time spent washing all of the parts afterward would negate the time I saved by using it in the first place.

    If you don't think you can eat all the cabbage in 3 days then you can preserve it by making it into sauerkraut (Which is FILLED with probiotics). It's actually pretty easy too. I'm in the process of making some sauerkraut right now for the first time.

      theJezBel I am from the UK and I watched the cucumber part with horror. I have NEVER known anyone here to consider the peel to be tough or remove the seeds! We just finely slice it as is. I was horrified since you've taken half of the cucumber and nutrients out of the equation!

      Whilst I agree, I do have a thing about wastage. It evokes a strong reaction in me. I can't see the point in buying something to throw half of it away, especially when all of it holds value.
      I take pride in using up all of my food. I get really cross with myself if I allow any food to go off before eating it. I suppose when you are so rigid in this mind set, when I see someone being so carefree about wasting half a cucumber for no reason, it does evoke a strong reaction. I wasn't joking either - I was honestly HORRIFIED by watching the waste hahaha.
      I realise what you are getting at but it's the principle, especially since I know people all over are starving. I have a 'no wastage' policy ingrained into my soul I am afraid!

    • @ianvd6777
      @ianvd6777 9 років тому +1

      lea perrins That's why I made the comment ..... you need to chill.... it's half a cucumber not even equat to 1/2 of a tomato. :-)

    • @seikibrian8641
      @seikibrian8641 9 років тому +3

      lea perrins She clearly said early in the video that whatever parts aren't used for processing can be used other ways, such as juicing; and for the cucumbers she says she saves the seeds for use in a cucumber dressing or cucumber soup. 2:15. The crisp parts are what's used in the food processor, but nothing is wasted.
