Clay, I just finished your season of Alone. I was rooting for you from the very beginning. Man, I was so happy when you took the win! Your skill, resilience, and devotion to your family are a huge inspiration to me.
My goodness, easy to see why you won your season! All your planning, all your efforts are a huge boost to the environment, wildlife and your family. Wonderful work!
What an awesome place! You folks have a lot to be proud of. I love the time, effort, & thought you have put into wildlife habitat. Thank you for sharing!
This really does look like paradise! I am so incredibly jealous! I am also happy for you and your family! Thank you for sharing your life and achievements with us.
Thank you so much for allowing us in. I just finished watching you win Alone, and let me tell you how impressed I was. Not only are you very capable but humble as well. I dont know how many come in the beginning talking about how they will kill it cause they have a warriors heart and then dont make it 30 days. Loved the poems as well. Without even talking about prize money you are a rich man. I could tell how much you love your family and I applaud you for living life right. Prayers to you on all future endeavors.
Absolutely love that you all are self sufficient and lessening your carbon foot print, as well as not having an impact on the industrial animal factories in the meat industry
Just finished your season. I know your boys were super proud. You a real one. You not only told your boys how to be resilient, you showed it. That’s called living your creed.
That is a little piece of heaven on earth right there!!!!! No better way to raise a family - you are both great parents who have a common goal in mind - family!!!!!!
Clay, I just finished watching the Alone season you were on. Watched it while traveling on vacation with my family. It made my vacation with my wife and daughter so much better. Really inspired by your journey, skills, stories you shared, and what you did for your family. Thank you for letting us in on all of that. Much love from Dayton, Ohio.
Your living my dream Clay! I used to live in northern Utah but had to move to Tennessee for some personal and financial reasons, just watching you show your homestead makes me so home sick for the Great Northern West … I so enjoyed watching you survive on Alone and hoping your ways of common sense living will become the new norm for America one day …..If your not struggling your not living!
I'm here after finishing alone, I knew you were going to win! When they told you that it was the end and you didnt have to stay any longer, I definitely shed some tears esp when you spoke with your family! Congrats and well wishes for you and your family!
My daughters and I just finished watching you on Alone and we enjoyed your awesome skills and love for your family tremendously. Your home and gardens are beautiful. May the Lord bless you and your family! Blessings from northern california.

It’s where life’s good stories live, the ones that will be told around campfires, for a lifetime and more. But Adventure doesn’t give up her secrets easily, She keeps them hidden from all but the most willing. Willing to pay the asking price. Just in case you didn't get the transcript, S8 E10. You're amazing! Thank you for this moment of Truth and Beauty. Your words touched me. And gave me strength to carry on. I'm a 79 year old widow, living alone and lonely in Lone Tree CO. It came just after the shock of seeing Coulter -- who should win an award for the Grodiest of All the participants throughout the series so far. LOL God bless him! The series ALONE captured my spirit and senses. Just finished watching all 8 seasons. I'm grateful that at least I ain't got it that bad!!!
Very nice place you and your family have there Clay. A wildlife heaven. About a week ago i ran into a 10 minute video that showed the last few minutes of your season 8 victory on "Alone." The last 2 days i have been binge watching the whole series. I am on day 49 and down to 4 survivors. Very hard living in the wild there. You getting that deer early on was a big win for you as you know. The last i watched you were getting frustrated with the gill net. I will watch the last episodes as time allows. The Lord has blessed you with a very high skill set on many area's in life. Of course your efforts to learn as brought the to fruition. Keep on keeping on.
Hey Clay, I spent my career working as a habitat biologist so watching you talk about the various native species was really interesting. I went to college in Moscow and always enjoyed that country up there, beautiful.
I’m glad you mentioned that working home/farmsteads give a guy junk piles. I’ve been fighting to make my place pretty for years and I just keep building sheds with old fence posts, wire, lumber, and fencing laying outside of ‘em’ typically from a neighbors old dog kennels. I’ve come home to find lawnmowers, riders, and a snowblower in my shed from various buddies. One of them even worked right away… the deer here don’t even run from the dog anymore, so it’s been hard to keep the new orchard alive here too. It’s a good way to live though
I hope you guys know how beautiful of a life you live! I live in the city as a tattoo artist and what I wouldn’t do to change lifestyles! Keep raising your family right and cherish the times!
Clay your cool man you sound vary humble and like a good guy . You got a new sub thank you for showing all of us how we can live with out these darn citys. Be safe and agin thank you for letting us into your lives.
Great videos brother. I don’t know maybe keep the mule dear already there and paid for. Man a your skills id restuff and simple reskin and your good to go. Blessings and big hugs to you and your beautiful family.
Goodmorning. Thank you for your tour of the property. We live in the Netherlands and have a small(er) 1 acre property in the North of France. It so uplifting to see so people like yourself setting up a self reliant / self sufficient way of living. Your practical skillset is very useful.
I had never heard of Alone, but your season came out on Netflix and I'm hooked now. You are a true renaissance man, seems like you can do it all!! Reminds me of my Dad and how I grew up!
Ehhh it'll do I guess😂😂😂. Brother it's absolutely beautiful!!! Good for you and yours man. Looks like paradise on earth!! Love when good things happen to good people!! GOD IS GOOD my friend!!
Hi clay. I've just started on your videos in the last few weeks and enjoy them a lot. I watched your earlier homestead tour and this one. I am based in Australia and from here I would say: - make sure your boys can grow gardens and preserve and cook as well as they can hunt and build - secure as much water as you legally can. You're sure to be restricted on what you can take out of the creek, so put gutters on your house, underground tanks, rainwater barrels, toilets using rainwater, dig some dams, plant mulch crops, explore options to retain water on your crops, fields. - windbreaks, animal shelters, woods you might want to harvest in the future, any wild plants that grow in idaho that will be beneficial. Even things like fish ponds, crabs, and yabbies ( that's what we call them in Australia. They are fresh water crustaceans/ shell fish. )
I was rooting for you from the beginning, felt a connection. Well after I finished the season I realized why!!!! I live in north west Florida, in Calhoun county between Panama City and Tallahassee!!! Man I’m so happy for you and your family
Indeed a little paradise on earth and it gets even better when the trees are bigger. Place a few more mineral blocks for the deer, they love it. Great family Clay ! Congrats on your victory in Alone.
Nice place! Here in Ga, the issues I face with my land are the opposite. I have way too much water, and the pine trees won’t stop growing and reproducing. I have a bunch of white oaks here too. The white oaks are awesome for turkey and deer.
So happy a homie won Alone! There were some serious geeks, you were competing against. I could hardly stand watching the others. You've got mad skills.
I'm jealous 😁 but also at almost 62 years of age, I don't envy your " to do" list to maintain the place. Garden layout looks good to me. Looking forward to Liz's canning videos. My wife has been watching some of those and wishes she could find a copy of Liz's old canning book. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing... Mother Earth News?... I've subscribed for decades... Great magazine... I love the self-sufficiency of your lifestyle... Lucy and I were pulling for your win... Congrats!... I am a "canner" myself and subscribed to Liz's channel after watching...Be safe and stay well.
Just finished watching your season of Alone and was impressed from the beginning with your level-headedness and situational awareness. I was so afraid that that fisher showing up would be the last straw for you! Thanks for showing us around your lovely home!
Nice little slice of heaven right there! Love the truck build btw. My dream truck is a ‘91 1st gen Cummins. All mechanically controlled and pretty much bulletproof! My shops teacher back in college had one and he made his own biodiesel distillery. He got the used oil from all the restaurants for free and processed it himself. Ran full biodiesel in the Summer months and blended in the Spring & Fall. Only had to go to the pumps in the Winter cause it’s too darn cold up here in Canada!
I was looking through all the homestead videos deciding what to watch. I saw the bearded guy in the vortex shirt and I’m like “YUPPPP this is the 1!” 😂
With regard to your irrigation. Living tradition homestead uses an equalized pressure drip irrigation. It is essentially the same as standard irrigation but this won't release water to the plants until the line is equalized. This has the benefit of ensuring each plant down the line gets water.
Bought your book and it literally showed up like two days after the print date. Very cool book and to be able to have a little more insight from when you were on alone that did not get aired. Been following you for a long time now, it all started when I was looking to make a self bow. Your other books are next, as I have all my staves have been drying for awhile now. Keep up the cool work.
Just now finished your season! I have to be honest at first I was going for Biko and just few episodes in I called that you had it in the bag and was cheering for you. I related a lot with your love and passion for your family. I don’t usually ever get left in more than a few tears from something but as a young father of 2 at only 23 years old who also has been with my partner since I was 17 after being best friends for years, it really hit home for me and filled me with a lot of emotions and inspiration. Congratulations 🎉 happy you post content I’ll be subscribing!
So awesome Clay, Thank you for making this update video of the homestead! Creative, Inspiring and well thought out. Those aspens are filling in nicely and going to be beautiful in the fall.
Owning a home at the beach here in SoCal I have always consider myself fortunate. But growing up on a farm with distant neighbors, room to roam, create and explore… I can’t help but desire that for my family too. A homestead like yours to raise the family most for year seems like the ideal situation. So stoked for you guys
This is awesome, man! That’s my goal, to have my own sustainable piece of property. Saving up now, hopefully within the next 5 years we can get it going!

NO BS I knew he was going to Win from the beginning! I'm upset that his Bud BENJI had to leave this Season of Alone. I was rooting for BENJI.
Many thanks
No hate to Biko but he was so much less competent then Clay that I was rooting so hard for Clay once it was top two. Clay deserved it.
My wife and I were standing up screaming for him. I had tears in my eyes lol. Dude is everything we are losing in today's society..
Hello this is Vamshi from india and I have done my graduation in agriculture bsc so im looking for agriculture farm worker job
And here I sit in my office, using these videos as my mental escape from these walls. Dreaming of this life and how to get there....
My goodness, easy to see why you won your season! All your planning, all your efforts are a huge boost to the environment, wildlife and your family. Wonderful work!
You should use a wool ground cloth or bird netting for the garden it helps more to keep the weeds out
What an awesome place! You folks have a lot to be proud of. I love the time, effort, & thought you have put into wildlife habitat. Thank you for sharing!
This is an excellent example of working with the land, not against it! The result: a habitat that can be enjoyed and thrived upon by all inhabitants!
Thanks Kevin
Clay - just finished your season of alone. You are a huge inspiration to my wife and myself.
