A 20A homestead, LIKE YOURS, is what everyone needs. i grew up and was raised on my Father's family farm in Southern Illinois, which my Father's Grandfather started around 1905, I think. My grandfather operated a dairy and hog farm, with mules, when my Father was young and growing up on the farm. When i was young in the 60's, my Father was still raising hogs, but only 1 milking cow, to help feed his 7 children, and by then my Father used tractors. When i got out of the Navy in 75, i returned to the farm and resumed working on the farm with my father, but i never liked raising hogs. I eventually started raising cattle on the family farm, but my 4 brothers convinced my father to rent out the farmland to a neighbor farmer, so i and my wife by then, eventually bought a 5A lot about 2 miles from the farm and built my house, in 83, and a cattle shed, and then i bought another 20A nearby for pasture. I had to rent 20A from the family farm to raise hay for my cattle, which i moved from the farm to my place. I also started to raise highland cattle, in addition to the angus/holstein cattle that i was already raising, and then i started crossing my highland cattle with the Italian white breeds. 20A for cattle pasture and 20A for hay is just the right amount to keep me busy raising a few head of crossbred cattle, which is all i have now, since my late wife passed away in 2020 after 40 wonderful years of marriage. In my younger years, my wife and i cut, raked, baled baled our hay in small square bales, and stacked the small square hay bales in the barn. My late wife was my tractor and baler operator and i was the hay bale stacker on the hay wagon following the baler. Together we were a good team, and now i hire a neighbor to cut, rake and bale my hay into 5x5 hay bales, which works ok for me, but it is not as much fun as baling the small square bales with my late wife. Sorry, but sometimes i get carried away, and your video about your 20A homestead brought back a lot of fond memories for me. Take care and enjoy your 20A, for it looks like you are off to a good start already. Oh, i forgot to mention, that i enjoyed your video on your new channel.
You have a beautiful piece of property. We have 52 acres in eastern ky besides our small 12 acre homestead. I will agree, the snakes on our 52! I hate snakes
Every place you stopped to give us a more panorama view I was trying to picture how it would look in the Fall 🍁 with the Fall colors and then in the snow.
So picturesque, Timmy! Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful life transforming this new property and following along in your progress. Keep us posted! ❤
You need a tractor with a mower attachment at least. We bought 16 acres of mostly pasture and some woods and we only had a ride on mower at first and had trouble keeping up with the grass even with a large herd of dairy goats grazing. Florida is different and we mow most of the year though. We finally got a tractor with a mower attachment. If you shop around you can get a decent used one and the attachments are usually cheap used. We just bought another 50 acres but luckily most of that is all woods so no mowing lol.

New to your channel just subscribe I love your beautiful Farm We'll be watching more of a channel And again you have a beautiful place Stay safe And stay happy
How beautiful 🤩 you guys are living the American dream for sure! I don’t like snakes either lol I jump and a scream comes out from my toes lol! I remember every spot where I saw a snake and tend to avoid that spot- walk around it lol! I can’t wait to see what happens next on the property! Living through you guys! What a wonderful place for your kids to grow up on. Lots of hard work never hurt anyone and makes you sleep better at night! Keep carrying on- excited for more!❤
I live in a country town in Australia and it’s an area with so many snake and the way to keep they away is to get a flock of geese. Geese are not scared of snakes and will attack them as a group and keep your family safe.
I am SO glad for you all!!! Thank you for sharing with us, it is a perfect fit for you all, and it's a gorgeous spread! God's Blessings upon you all, much love your way ❤ to God be the glory, in the name of Jesus, Amen 🙏
Just breath taking!! I don't know who looks happier, you or the doggo!! lol. I subbed immediately the other night after your initial house tour on your main channel. So excited to see all the goings-on down at the Farm. 🥰
I feel you on the snakes! My dream is to do homesteading and there are a lot of things I’m really scared of like snakes, bugs, bears and more but I love animals and growing my own food and I think its good to face your fears because its not living if you just stay in your safe place forever. Thanks for sharing that its good to know im not the only one with some fears and seeing someone else overcoming their fears!
The land is breath taking. Love the ponds, rivers and wildlife. I'm lazy AF so I can't imagine managing and caring for 20 acres of land but I'll definitely be rooting for you.
Hopped over from your tour. Congratulations! Y'all are doing what I've always dreamed. Much success and happiness and friendships and amazing memories for you!
Hey Timothy! I don't like snakes either! I had told my fiancé about it and she had informed me that I had better "cowboy up" and also "suck it up" because there's a whole lot more out in the country besides snakes! She had told me about coyotes and bobcats! Anywho, I'll see YOUR beautiful face in the next one! Luvyà! ~ Chris
Where did you say you came from again? I absolutely LOVE your farm, it is so beautiful with all the green grass, ponds, and mountain views! Your little boy will be very fortunate to grow up here. I've heard that Guinea hens are very good about killing snakes and all kinds of insects. You may want to consider them for your farm. I also really like your Kawasaki farm vehicle, it will become the best thing you ever bought as you get older. Also really liked your huge farmhouse. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Good luck with your cattle ranch. Personally I would prefer Angus Hereford cross cattle because of the taste of the meat. I don't like Highlands at all but I've heard they're quite gentle cattle. We are currently retired on 16+ acres in Central Texas and love it here. Very quiet and good people around. I was born and raised in Michigan and my husband in New York/New Jersey. We met here 23+ years ago. I moved to Texas in 1981 and he in 1979. Neither one of us would go back!
You are looking very honest guy , and cute , I want to live in your property, this kind of land is my dream from when I was studying rhymes imagination, but in here in my land not beautiful like yours , always love your channel and your family
If you decided against cows for the back area, a gazebo and picnic bench area would be so heavenly 🥰 ,,, lol I'm picturing all my ideas 😂 The upper meadow area adjacent to your neighbor near the gate, I'd level out an area for telecopes and stargazing 🤩
Beautiful farm! Congratulations! Started following your other channel while living in Delaware and waiting for our home in WV to be complete (you toured a house with the same floor plan as ours). We’ve been here in Southern WV little over a year now. Almost heaven. ❤
It would be cool to continue renting the back pasture to your neighbors until you need it. It would keep the grass in good shape and keep down the fire danger.
Absolute dream property. I love that side of the country as I know it well from having family in NC. What would bother me is being so close to Ohio and all the toxicity in the air and water. WV is right next door. 😞
Be confident, you will become accustomed to the snakes being around. Not that you’ll warm up to them like you might warm up to a turtle or chipmunk. But, you will get used to encountering a fast moving black snake or king snake , chicken snake or little garter snake an be momentarily startled, then relax. Even the vipers won’t send your heart racing because you will know how to dispatch them like it’s more of an annoyance than a terrible threat.
You are so blessed and lucky
