Thanks Chloe, you did our homework for us. That tire/wheel combo look great. You made excellent choice. It just gives the truck enough of a lift to give it that look we all want without going crazy causing other issues.
Thank you for explaining wheel offsets and your decision making process in detail. Finally, a production without 40 mph wind gust audio noise, and video camera shake that leads to vertigo. You did your homework ! Nice Job !
Data point for others doing 285/70/17s. I've got an OME suspension (2.5" front, 1.5" rear lift, measured from street to wheel well center), C load KO2s: OMETAC16HKSB2. With 17x8 zero-offset rims, it's a perfect fit. No need to replace UCAs or to trim or hammer anything. I can smack it around at full steering lock without any rub. Almost all of the clearance issues I've seen on others' set-ups are from going overboard with a big negative offset. 2021 TRD OR.
I've found this to be the case too-- for fitting larger tires, wheel offset matters more than people may think! The lift matters, but 0 offset helps quite a bit. Thanks for sharing your setup!
I’m about to swap rims on my 08’ to 17”. Tire options for 16” leave you with an E range tire. 0 offset seems like the way to go but what about backspacing. Looks like 4.5 or 4.75 but I’m having difficulty finding that answer

The zero offset is pretty much key to get that tire size with a modest lift without rubbing. I have the Method 305's with the KO2's 285/70/17 and have gone overlanding without problems rubbing on a 2"/1" lift.
This is too much backspacing for anything larger tho. Further out the further tire travels when you turn more likely to rub cab mount. Want them tight unless just going for the look but if you are might as well get wider tires then
Had these tires in 35” size on a stock wrangler. Waiting on a 2022 pro currently. Trying to decide what size tires on the pro without any suspension mods. Thanks for the vid.
Great video and very informative. I was considering these wheels for my Tundra when it arrives. It would be nice if you could include a side view of the truck in a future video so we can see the “poke” or offset. Thanks!
So the westcott collar is adding 1.5" to a suspension that was lifted 1" from the factory, does that mean a TRD Off Road would need ~2.5"+ to have the same tire and wheel set up? Assuming same castor, but I am planning on SPC UCAs.
Hey great video ...but isn't the tire diameter for your stock tires actually 30.6 not 29.6??? I am trying to work out the diameter difference moving to 285's and I think it is only 2 inches not 3 that you said in your video?

How off is your speedometer and odometer with the larger diameter wheels? When I increased the wheel and tire size on my old Nissan truck, the actual speed became off and required recalibration to maintain proper speed and mileage indications. Is this recalibration something you can do with an OBD-II tool or does it need to be sent out to a company?
I have 265/75/R17 E ko2's, I got the truck with them, but once they wear down, I'm definitely getting a set up like yours. Do you still think the c rated is good enough?
Hello, would a Falken Wildpeak 285/75R16 fit without rubbing? I currently have a 275/75R16 now and no issues at all. Before I buy new ones I thought about increasing to the next size up. Please advise and thank you
Chloe or anyone else, I have heard that with the 2020+ trd pro stock wheels you can actually fit 285/75 r16 without a lift in the front. I was told it was due to the specific offset those wheels provide and no rubbing would happen. I'm not opposed to doing the Westcott lift in the front but also I am not too sure what preloading the shocks further will actually do long term to the suspension or ride quality. I currently have a late model year trd pro with a manual, and am looking to get a larger tire in there, I will be keeping the stock wheels.
It’s a big difference compared to stock. Around 3-4mpg on interstate with my truck before the regear and custom tune and I set my speed to 68 on the interstate.
How’d those Methods balance? Did they require a lot of weights? A mechanic told me one of these newer wheel brands are impossible to get balanced but can’t recall if he was referring to Method, KMC, Black Rhino etc…
I was considering an upgrade to these but then I saw they were ~15 lbs heavier per wheel if I bought them at the stock size. That's a pretty big loss in power just from heavier tires.
@@mengzilla6496 Yeah I don't know. I've had my Taco's accelerator floored and completely unloaded while only going 85 into a head wind and actually lost speed.
So, basically a 1.5" lift and a zero offset wheel allow for a 285/70 r17 tire to fit there perfectly (no rubbing or touching anywhere even at full compression or full turn). Right?
I am very interested in how you dont rub the mud flap.. I have a 2020 trd sport and I run a 265-70-17s with stock suspension. And when the suspension is compressed and turning left I rub.. Very annoying...
