I guess I did just the opposite of how you did lol, I started riding bikes over 45 year's ago, yeppers I did all the crashing, jumping, more crashing, then I started watching UA-cam lol, the best tip is # 1, take the MFS course first for new rider's, we didn't have any tech stuff when I was younger, we just jumped on and taught our selves lol, good video brother, ride safe and keep the knees in the breeze
    👊🏼💯

I wish I got the 1200. I wish I had bought a used one. But what I did was buy an 883. I was buying a Harley and I wasn’t buying anything else. I have never been on any motorcycle or dirt bike before. Im super glad I made the decisions i did. My Harley dealership paid for my msf.

In 1977 when I was 12, I was finally allowed to ride the Honda 150 off the farm and into town and to the neighbors etc. But I wasn't allowed to ride ON the road, I had to stay to the ditches, fields and the woods. So I learned control and the environment around Me very well by the time I got My license.

Good list bud, I didn’t do the msf until I was 12 years riding. I learned a ton. Subbed and hope to see many more videos, very well done

Great tips! And while my MSF class experience was bizarre and not the best, I DID learn the basics. It helped me start off as a complete newb with the basic understanding necessary. Starting slow and practicing is also super important.

First time to channel and good stuff. Okay the guy at the light was like, I wish I could do that. Pretty cold here in Michigan so thanks for riding for us. Great topic and ride safe

Another great vid bro! I totally agree with this list. I pretty much followed this path... well I took the MSF course first. I did sit on some but then bought my bike online.... still working on gear, practicing uturns...
once you've taken the course, ride ride ride.

Great advice! My story is almost identical to yours and you’re right, I wish I had done a few things differently myself. Like not just walk into Harley Davidson and buy an iron 883 without checking out any other bikes first. I mean who does that? Honestly, I love my sportster and I’m very glad I got it. If I had shopped around I probably would have ended up with a Honda or Yamaha and been wishing I had bought the Harley! Love my iron 883!

i've been riding my whole life, then a cop made me take the MSF course via a ticket, lol. Learned a LOT, made my kids do it before riding!
I struggle with proper summer gear...it's so hot to put anything on at 99 degrees lol.
yeah man, i was about to buy a new ultra glide and a salesman said...go ride that road glide...SOLD, lol. Wish there was a way you could try diff bikes with diff accessories (bars, seats, etc...)
Whenever we have meetups, i'm always early and go crazy practicing in parking lots
    nice video man!

I've been riding two wheels since I was eight and I'm now 63. Tip..never stop scanning your surroundings even when at a stop on the roadways and leave yourself an escape route when stopped in traffic..I say that even tho I've been hit 3 times. None of the accidents were my fault but I did walk away from each of them. First one, back in the 70's, I had someone run a red light and hit me broadside. Second I was rear-ended at a stop on an interstate exit ramp in downtown Atlanta in 2017. Third time was a hit and run that ran a stop sign and hit my bike on the right side front wheel. I've had my Angels watching over me for sure.

LOVE this video. Great topic. I learned like 18 years ago now, took the course. I mean us women we were changing diapers while you men out riding so ya we had to play catch up. All good points you have made. I invested in good gear right away and still have it and glad I made the purchase, I did the same with all my upgrades, never bought after market and so far all have done me well. I wish I would have started with my softail and not invested in my Sportster first. I only had it a year and knew it was time to upgrade. Thank you for the SUB!!! Appreciate it.

You have some good advice for before and after buying a motorcycle! After riding for 45 yrs, we sometimes forget the list. Practice, practice, practice!! Good vid!

Great advice! One thing i want to add, if i may, is - learn to "read" the road.. means watch out for oil traces, sand, debris and such. You will miss those things if you look right in front of your front wheel. Oh and watch the cars in front of you - if they behave strangely be prepared you will be in that place soon, too. And my best 3 advices of all .. keep your distance - keep your distance and keep your distance. THAT is what gives you time to react. Distance is key! Did i mention Distance?

Awesome video. All good points. I’ll add, beware of “that’s an easy change” from the salesperson when you try out a bike and don’t like something. Adding forward controls, changing the seat, changing the handlebars and risers, etc. Those things add up. Don’t be rushed by the salesperson. Check other dealers for something you want. Different dealerships have different inventory.

Yo this is perfect 🤩 👍🏼 can you do more about tall guys for example. 6'2 265lb and I really want 883 iron or a 1200 but 85% of the internet says it's not really build for big guys new riders

I wish I waited to buy a bike until after the MSF course. I didn’t have the confidence to buy the bike I really wanted. But the Slim gave me a lot of seat time and allowed me to jump to the Street Glide.

I still think it's weird people today do all this. Be safe. You gotta be safe. Wrap yourself in gear.... I guess it's why people today look to big government and business to tell them how to act and be careful. Don't forget people, put on that mask, get that shot, seek permission to gather in crowds and be careful most of all. 🤭🤭🤣🙄
