As a Chinese, I have to speak. In China, especially the urban city like Beijing or Shanghai, the rate of getting in a great university is like pick 3k in 8 or 9m every year. So the "famous" high schools put iron fence of every hall of the building just in case the student would jump off. But still, tons of students decided to end their life every year. There is even a shit list called "school ranking" in China, the top 3 or 5 of them are the best school with highest Enrollment rate. I was in one when I was in middle school, get up at 6am and get off at 9pm, sometimes 11pm depends on if there's a overtime study project. Everyone in the whole world saying Chinese kids are so smart, we can do advanced mathematics and all that stuff when we were still in middle school. But the price is I lose half of my hair when I was 14. And I remember there were 6 people ended their life in just 6 months in my school. Too many population, way less chance to be "succeed"
that old man was the best "if your mom goes angry just listen to her, she did it all for you" he tried to save the bond of mother and child and also taught the mother not to be like that.

Yes, he is. That is why many societies adore their old people and give them a lot of respect. They have seen many things in their lives, and they can give advice from experience, not only theory.
I know this feeling, especially being asian, my parents they always compare me and my siblings to other people. It's like they don't understand education is not a competition. It's hurt when it comes to comparing, we all are different we are not the same.
I love this about their culture. They always function as a family, taking the phrase " It takes a village to raise a child " and putting it into action . Educating the mother on how to act in case she didn't know any better.

If you look at the video closely, you will realize that all those who tried to stop the mother were 'elderly' people, people who were once a child and have been a parent for a long time. Sometimes, we have to take their advises seriously, as they have gone through those experiences themselves. Glad to see the public standing up for what is wrong.

This hits me hard and reminds me of my childhood. I still maintain good relationship with my mother, but I feel at peace without her presence. Her presence made me anxious. At one point I was so traumatised that whenever I was sleeping and if I heard my mom's voice, I would wake up abruptly and sit straight on my bed, of course just to get scolded by my mom (cause I woke up too fast - _-)

seeing so many people stand up for the girl really warms my heart im not really one to write sob stories, but i kind of relate to it. back when I was in elementary school and middle school, I did ice skating as a sport. i wasn’t the best at it, but i was pretty good considering my age. i started when I was 5 and my grandma would always drive me there whenever I had to practice which was every day after school. i appreciated her always driving me back and forth, but one thing that she always did was criticize me. she would always watch me practice and at the end of the session, she would complain about how i wasn’t making any progress and how other kids were making progress while I was just getting worse. she would complain how I was slow and how I was so lazy and how I looked like an elephant on the ice. she would constantly find something to say about me, even not related to ice skating. pretty much everything, from how I look, to how I’m doing in school, to how i was always last. every time she would scold me, I always tried to hold in the tears. honestly, she criticized me and scolded me so much, it was normal at that point. i didn’t tell anyone cause I thought, “oh every parent must be like this”. looking back on it now, i wished I had told someone. i mean at least my parents. well if you read this far, thanks?
I hope you're okay now. Don't let your granny's comments weighing you down, I'm sure that you're skillfull and will do great and beautiful things in the future. You didn't deserved all this scolding, you just progress at your rhythm and that perfectly honorable and nothing to be shamed off. I wish you realise it, no matter what you're doing now. Lots of regards. Just one of the many persons who care about you.
You know what I love about the people? That even though the mother was scolding the girl, they always tell her to RESPECT her mom, listen and don't say anything back. Totally agree, as a child, you SHOULD NEVER answer back, your parents know what is best for you most of the time.
Great video, I can totally relate :( I had a dad like that, he was a teacher. He had always treated me this way although I passed all my secondary school years with an A grade and was always considered excellent. But I could not take it anymore in high school, especially with the physical abuse. So I passed those years with C and D grades because I unfortunately developed serious symptoms of: ADD, social anxiety, and other issues (mental and physical). I was in a really bad place bcz of that but thankfully I decided to create a new personality for myself once I got into college. It took me 3 or 4 years to find who I am and what I can do, and to realize that grades are just one among many indicators of people's abilities. Now, I'm in my final year (MA in English and Culture) with a great amount of side experiences (teaching montage and photography, organizing events..etc), plus teachers consider me excellent although I'm a B student and I'm pretty happy with all of that. Whoever is going through this: *well, the video up here says it all*
I couldn't keep watching the whole video I'm tearing up already. It's just so heartbreaking. I think all of us deserve a happy life, we're not living this life to be sad, we're not struggling everyday trying to keep up living our life for nothing. I just hope that we all get a happy ending/ a happy life. Ily so much. Idk u but I love u cuz u deserves to be loved 🥺😔😭💟
@3:37 'Face life with a smile.' I can say with 99.99% accuracy that couple, the man in his 90s and his wife, I assume, were two angels masquerading as one of us. But seriously, this one made me tear up. So much compassion, empathy and kindness (like the sweet lady @3:28 telling her she is pretty)...it gives me hope in these dark times. There is light out there and it will be shining on us and for us once again. Also, the woman @0:40...total boss! The way she immediately put herself between them and calmly, but firmly, spoke to her....true boss!
Y'all just seeing that the old couple agreed to raise her, but the way their combination is like strictness with love is sooo admiring ..... I mean his wife was saying everything with a smile and LOVE on the other hand the grandpa was sooo sweetly strict 💕
1:05 she is right My mother scolded my younger sister so much because she was failing all the exams she didn't listen to her and one day she took her life Rest In peace 10/7/2000 to 1/3/22 It's been 12 days since she is gone I miss her so much 😭😭
I cried watching this because my mom always do this to me in public instead of cheering me up. It hurts so bad because there's no one is defending me and I can't defend myself too bcs in the end I'll be the bad guy.
The best part about this video for me and what touched me the most was without a doubt the mothers great redemption ark, from beginning to end, however short, it changes and I think it adds a touch to the reality of stress on both sides. good video, as always TreeMan
1:25 look how the woman is arranging the mother actress’s hair. You can spot a warm society from afar. In the US one would already shout harassment for such a naturally kind and hearty gesture.
Nunca había llegado tan temprano. Me parece mal que una madre trate de ese modo a sus hijos para "educarlos" claramente hay maneras y mucho menos agredirlo (a) verbalmente en público :'c

Whoever is going through this: *well, the video up here says it all*
This vedio proves that kindness is alive in this world.
Indian????????
havent watched the video yet but ik im about to tear up as always
edit: i cried
I cry during every social experiment video of treeman. They are so heart warming
Have been watching these videos for years... I'm always intrigued that everyone in China is a life coach! 😊
Wow! These people have big hearts!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
"Face life with a smile" 😊😊
Wow im early, also i am so glad for what I have and the fact my parents a caring,
I'm happy there are people who would comfort a stranger. And I'm sorry to anyone going through something like this.
This channel is basically the Asian version of that "What Would You Do" show, I love it!
為什麼觀看這段視頻對我如此痛苦 您的頻道是最好的😭❤
Y'all just seeing that the old couple agreed to raise her, but the way their combination is like strictness with love is sooo admiring .....
I mean his wife was saying everything with a smile and LOVE on the other hand the grandpa was sooo sweetly strict 💕
"Are you better than your peers"
OHHHHHHH SHE SNAP!!
1:05 she is right
My mother scolded my younger sister so much because she was failing all the exams she didn't listen to her and one day she took her life
Rest In peace
10/7/2000 to 1/3/22
It's been 12 days since she is gone I miss her so much 😭😭
I'm sorry for your loss.
I'm sure she was a wonderful person.
This must be so difficult for you. I hope you get through it. Best regards.
the beautyful old lady who said "If you don't want her I will take care of her"
So amazing💖
Man in red. Awesome! Like my late grandfather😢 all of his word really inspiring and motivating
Its ao sweet that these people at least think about someones feelings. Especially when even they are strangers🥺💖
