After the passing of Capt Magwood, the boat was sold to Holden Beach seafood in NC and they renamed the boat Shayna Michelle. During Hurricane Ian the boat was out trawling in Myrtle Beach SC and lost power. The crew had to be rescued and the boat was left behind. The boat was washed ashore during the hurricane. Its also been featured in country music artist Darius Ruckers video for the song Come Back. This boat has alot of history.

I got to know Wayne and GoGo through my husband, Capt. Lindsey UGA. He made me a drawing of the shrimp boat "Miss Lori" (NO not real , just me) and I carry it with me as a purse a bunch..

This is what makes America! The independent businessman and where all the stimulas money should have gone, not to government agency's. Invest in people like this and the returns will be ten fold.
God bless this captain and his heritage

I think its great how SC businesses, communities, and regulators partner with the commercial fishing industry to help solve environmental problems, keep the waters clean, and promote great family tourism for the fishing industries.
There are some states which only promote sports fishing for tourism and only meet with commercial fishermen when its time to blame someone for the environmental problems caused by lack of natural wildlife preservation regulations and land. Overdeveloped coastline

I'd love to work on a shrimp boat. Nothing like the smell of marine diesel, salt water, and shrimp.

The reason there is no shrimp, is because you shrimp at night. Shrimp are nocturnal. I used to work on a boat in Levy County. A little town in Florida. I grew up playing my guitar on the deck of a shrimp boat. Trust me when I say ,you only shrimp at night.

A little tougher to film at night!

Shrimp do what they do for a reason, simply because all of them want to do the same thing at the same time. There are different species of shrimp, and each species has its own set of rules. Some like the night time, and some like the daytime. Some change around depending on the water salinity, temperature, turbidity, and some things we people do not know about. An abnormally high tide is usually bad. The time of year and current tide is also important. Few realize the effect a slight wind has on seafood. And, then there is the varying effects all of this has on the predators and food that shrimp eat. There is even a problem with other fishermen wanting to follow other fishermen, which means there are too many boats, and the area is being over fished, unless, of course, there is a steady supply coming in for some reason. I have spent 20 years trying to figure shrimp out. Good luck on this one. HEHE, although, some people just seem to be luckier than others.... Year after year. But, then again, there is a lot of difference in rigs and boats. :

do not eat farmed fish any farmed fish not healthy
I try to buy local when I can and if they cant tell me where the shrimp or fish came from I wont buy it.

    • @tomdobyns2062

You are correct in doing that. I will not eat farm raised fish or shrimp. Any food from asia scares me.
