Right on man... I love shrimp. I worked with Billy Stewart on the Naomi Charles. Was the time of my life. I went too a couple famliy feeds and Captain Billy showed me how too eat them. I'm from Montana... Yep,long story! Ha ha ha.... Thanks man.
I'm about to do a career change to the GC Shrimping industry and I'm excited to quit working in the damn city. I heard the most obnoxious conversation at a Starbucks in downtown Houston and wished nothing more to be in the middle of the Gulf somewhere hahaha! And yes, I know there is no SB out there and that's just fine. :)
It's not the fact that they're imports it's that they use a trade rules loophole to import frankenshrimp with no verifiable antibiotic hormones pen density stewardship which taste like not shrimp
@@2MuchShrimp I'm in central Georgia and want to try and get a entry level job on a boat. What you said is what I figured I'd have to do. So just show up and start talking to people? Ive been looking online to try and find companies numbers but I haven't had any luck. Any suggestions where would be a good place to start? I have a million questions
Go down to the docks and ask around if they need help. Start out as a header! That's how I got hired back on 1976.😊 Be ready to go to work on short notice, first day I inquired I went to work that day.
I lived on the Gulf Coast for several years and knew several shrimp boat owners and crew members. They told me the hardest thing is fighting with law makers who "adjust" laws to accommodate foreign shrimpers and importers. They give the foreign shrimpers tax breaks and don't hold them to the same standards as American shrimpers. Plus when foreigners are caught breaking the law they just leave the country and come back later. American shrimpers have to stay and face prosecution and stiff fines!
I was a gulf shrimper from 77 to 83. A great life.

The docks don't pay these guys what they deserve.
What this industry needs is more Democrats from large cities telling them what to do.
