I’m so glad they are going to ban sec 21 and other dodgy practices within the private rental sector. We need a fully functioning private rental sector, social housing and more affordable housing to buy. I think Labour have a good handle on what needs to change.,

universal credit is 360 a month, hardly much to live on is it? and you have to pay council tax on that too.

Are you kidding me, Rents are based off of the house price, typically about 5 percent per annum.
Labour opened the flood gates, labour allowed mass immigration , labour caused a supply and demand crisis. Labour is reasonable for the house prices being so high
Then the conservatives carried on with the same polices. further adding to the supply and demand crisis further increasing prices
BOTH PARTIES NEED TO GO.
This is how markets work. Will they ban property auctions where buyers bid against each other, or the energy auctions, gilt auctions?
If they don’t like the result the only solution is increase supply or reduce demand. That means either building 4,000,000 new homes or stopping migration completely until the housing/population ratio equalises.
Failure to build is the issue combined with 4.3m migrants entering the country, this is the fault of government not landlords who are simply being used as a convenient scape goat.
You can’t solve the problem using law fare, markets will not be defeated, many have tried and failed. Our ERM exit in the 90’s a perfect example.

My wife and I put our savings into a buy to let while Gordon Brown was in office. We’re both secondary school teachers and it seemed the best way to make the most of what we had and to save for later life. By making overly dramatic mock exposé videos like this Labour is demonising those who have been life-long supporters.
