I have an upgraded Ampino and then also the monoblocks and preamp combo from Dayens. I really like their stuff. Great tone and dynamics, and simple and easy to use day in and day out. I have them driving DeVore Fidelity speakers and I’ve gone nuts with sources. But I still really appreciate what Dayens brings to the table for my system. Thanks! Great review!!
Nice review, and insight into the differences amongst amplifier topologies. Thanks!
👍🏼 Nicolas Parent Trio !!! Well recorded…😄
Yeah…great, happy to see/hear you finally listening to this small amp.
For a budget system Dayens is making the ampino…that sounds the same to me personally. For smaller rooms and budgets that’s the solution to me…
I have this on order. I can't wait to have a listen to it.
Just bought a Heed Obelisk Si and it seems to be comparable. This could have been another good option. The Heed is also just an amp but sounds excellent for the money.
As a fellow owner of a Heed Obelisk Si lll, I found its overall sound bettered a Naim SuperNait 3, of which was sold shortly afterwards, my one regret is not having gone with their LaGrange model when I had funds in hand.
Excellent, cool runnings
Great video, Srbo, as usual. We came to expect no less from you :)
What puzzles me here is the behaviour of our local producers: you got the Dayens from a friend instead of the producer. Why? They didn't hear about YT, or? You've got 10's of thousands of followers, isn't it logical to assume that some of them could be looking for a new amp or something?
Anyways, it's a very interesting piece. I would have liked to hear it, especially since you've compred it to the IN100. And, of course, you were on the point there: IN100 is a very powerful and authoritative amp, but not really highly refined. That's why I have a slight issue finding a new pair of speakers for it :)
Like the ´simple´ design and quality parts, would be nice to see more capacitors (now only one per channel) for a little more authority
I found my perfect synergy with my Menuetto paired with Triangle Genesis trio and Topping D70 pro.
I think it would look better with black knobs. Another great review
Sean of Zero Fidelity Channel has a great review on the Menuetto and shows the inside in detail.. Superior build…
Thaks for bringing something new for me.
You have referred to wharfedale diamonds sometimes. I have 11.3 towers and am thinking about pairing them with Maratnz pm-8006 amplifier. Could that be a good combination based on your background? Anyhow, I'll try to give them a try before moving ahead.
Thanks.
My old seventies A/B amps from Sansui are still doing great (and one of them is only 12 watts into 8 ohm). Musical and dynamic. Nevertheless class D is here to stay. The Topping has a good but cheap tpa3255 chip, that is doing well in a lot of cheap CHi-Fi products, but implementation and power supply is critical. Hypex, Purifi and ICEpower are a step up with more discrete class d implementations but the price is up there too. Fosi is planning a Hypex nCore amp so there is hope for the budget minded audiophile.
My buddy has a Deer Creek Hypex unit and is really enjoying it. He is now looking at their mono blocks. He has owned much more expensive Class D amps, and this is the first one he said he would keep due to the better sound of the Hypex.
@@michaelwright1602The Hypex Nilai's are the newest and best ones. He should get those .
@@D1N02 That is the one, the Hypex Nilai's, he has the integrated right now, and really is impressed. Ed, my buddy, has been in the hobby since the early 1970's, so when he praises something, it is going to be good. He has never steered me wrong yet.
Thanks for showing us a brand that we would not usually be exposed to here in the U.S. Your Acoustic Invaders were always tempting to me....but I like the sound I have these days so I am exploring music more now with Roon and not obsessing over new gear. Although I do have two Grant Fidelity Treasure Globe Tubes arriving for my supercharged (new caps and resistors) Schiit Freya +.... It is about nuances, right now!!!! Great review!!!!!
I already have an Ampino and I'm going to upgrade to the Menuetto.
please compare to arcam radia a25
I like how you didnt theorize about the power differences in the Topping comparison 😂
Brands like Topping seem to optimize their specs to appear better than they really are. If you measure the amps power solely with a 1 kHz sine wave RMS in comparison to multi frequency pink noise AES, that will make a huge difference, meaning the power output can drop to 10% measured with AES standard. And we all know that music is much more complex of a signal than a single 1 kilohertz sine wave.
That's why you encounter dynamicless play back with so called strong 200 W but cheap digital amp because with complex signal and difficult speaker load they drop down in performance massively to what you see on the spec sheet.
you should check out the fm300a clone
👍👍👍
How does it compared to the Rega Brio?
17:01 vs Rega Brio and Atoll IN100
Will it handle speakers with 85 DB sensitivity ?
It will, mine are around 85 and it worked well.
Have no worries ordering.. The Father & Son are very Honest with a long standing reputation.. You will be happy listening to this Amp.. It’s little brother is even stellar with a DAC, you get Audio Nirvana❤️
So an amplifier of an unknown brand at double the price is better than a well known amplifier for double the price. Carefull not to loose your reputation.
Topping is not an unknown brand. Dayens had worldwide distribution and reviews in global magazines back when Topping didn't exist yet... And if you look at other comments, few viewers own it already. So I'm not sure what's you're saying here.
@@iiWiReviewsI agree, this comment here makes no sense at all.
