Rafiullah pointed out two very beautiful points: i- All Baloch,it doesn't matter whether politician or militant, are on the same page in matters of grievances ii- Low scale conflict has the same impact on businesses as full blown conflict.

In pursuing a kinetic solution to the long enduring militancy in Balochistan ,the state has completely lost sight of how large swathes of Baloch population , specially the youth , have gone over to to the militants’ cause , leading to a tectonic social transformation that spells danger for the long-term integrity of the country . If the bulk of the population gets alienated and radicalised then you have a grave existential problem on your hands , because , then there would be no dearth of fresh recruits willing to take up arms against the state , also this would lead to an enlargement of the social support network for the militants , who would then operate much more freely and with highly lethal effect .There is an urgent need , therefore, to win the hearts and minds of the Balochi youth if ominous threats to the integrity of the country are to be avoided .
The greatest grievance a Baloch has is that not even common, educated upper class from Islamabad or from Punjab tries to know what reality Baloch has faced before getting armed. State constructed propaganda has created an image of a Baloch as a terrorist and barbaric and on the other side a Baloch thinks even after knowing what we go through an educated Pakistani thinks that we all are to blame then it becomes a mutual hate against people who have never met.
I think kakar is one of the few who know the roots of the problem in Balochistan.As someone who hails from Balochistan he know the nuances in the people and their culture. He should be heard more about the balochistan issue.

There should be a division of Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh and KPK. We need more provinces/ states in Pakistan to devolve the power. In this federal system of Pakistan, only Punjab is being appeased and in Pakistan too, only the cities with the largest population. Pakistan's administrative structure should be changed and local governments at district level should have all the powers.
One thing you are missing. With this incident,the whole issue of Bloch has got highlighted.now BLA will be funded and armed by any country or organisation.
Why use this American political science vocabulary. The fact is Punjabi domination and exploitation of Baluchistan is the main factor driving militancy.

Dear Shehzad. I had written the following comment on your podcast on the massacre of Punjabis in Balochistan earlier this week: Dear Shehzad, I can see how upset you were when you made this video. Toxic comments can really sadden and demoralize you. I was saddened when you hinted that you might not continue podcasting on important issues faced by us but heaved a sigh of relief when I saw your video about rape culture. Please don’t be disheartened and keep speaking up about critical issues faced by the nation. I would like to comment on a few things you have said: 1. You have mentioned the unfortunate murder of Nawab Akbar Bugti. You are absolutely right in saying that the current wave of terrorism was triggered by his murder. I notice that you have presented his killing as murder by Musharraf without giving context to his killing. His murder is coming across as if it was the result of personal enmity between the two. I am not defending Musharraf here, but when we talk about a momentous event like Nawab Bugti’s murder we should present all the facts so that people understand these events in the proper context. The chain of events started with the rape of a lady doctor serving in a hospital in Sui by an Army captain. It was a horrendous act, and the perpetrator needed to be punished for it. Nawab sahib demanded punishment for him, which was an honourable thing to do. When it was not forthcoming, he picked up arms and ‘went into the mountains’. His people attacked law enforcement personnel and fired rockets at gas pipelines. These things are not done in a state, even if the cause is just and honourable. An operation was launched to put down the mini-insurgency during which he was killed along with some of his fighters and some Army commandos. He was killed in action, not murdered for personal enmity. 2. It seems to have become a way of virtue signalling these days to not take into consideration the actions of victims that could have resulted in the unpleasant things that have happened to them. I am not justifying horrible acts but anybody who dares to enquire about the circumstances or causes of a deplorable deed is immediately shut up and accused of ‘victim blaming’. I respect the outrage, which I am sure is good natured, but humbly submit that everyone is responsible for their words and deeds. This applies most definitely to the perpetrator, who should be punished for his action, even if it was in retaliation for some egregious provocation; but also, the victim for their share in what transpired. This is not victim blaming, but not mentioning the victim’s part may result in presenting a wrong version of events to the world. Please note I am not talking about rape here, for which there can be no excuse. 3. You are disappointed that people do not pay attention to the genuine grievances of Pakhtoon Tahaffuz Movement (PTM). It seems as if you don’t take into consideration that many people are put off by the anti-state rhetoric and slogans they use while presenting their genuine grievances. In expressing disappointment at people not supporting PTM, you never mention that they use language and act in ways that other people might find offensive. The cause is important, but the way you demand something matters too. If your demands are just but your methods are unacceptable to the majority of people, then you would not find much support. If in your childhood you want something and you mother doesn’t provide it and the next time while asking her for it you smash the crockery she had received as dowry at her wedding, she would thrash you, even though she is your loving mother and your demands are just. The same thing applies to PTM also. 4. You have written that one cannot and should not accept sanity and observance of laws from terrorists and insurgents. Absolutely true! You can’t and shouldn’t. My question is: what next? We are not expecting anything from them, but then how should the state deal with them? The usual answer one gets is: present them in a court and have them punished according to the law of the land. Again, this is the right answer. However, the problem with this is that in our country people are scared to testify against the criminal and the influential for fear of repercussions. Sometimes, judges also act partisan for ideological and political reasons (we all know that the late Justice Waqar Saith has released quite a few known TTP terrorists). So, what should, and more importantly, could be done in the present circumstances with people who resort to terrorism? 5. One last thing: you say, and my late father Mr. M. B. Naqvi, who was an active member of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, used to say the same thing; that the state cannot stoop to the level of militants, insurgents and terrorists. Its behaviour should be different from that of militants, insurgents and terrorists. It should follow rules. Again, absolutely true. However, I see one problem with this. The means available to a state to restore its writ are law enforcement agencies. Their personnel would do the actual enforcing of the writ. They are trained and wear uniforms but are still human. No amount of training or uniforms would make their bodies bullet proof. They would die if shot in some sensitive part of the body or get wounded if they are hit in a slightly less sensitive part. They know when they are heading for a mission that their opponents are armed with sophisticated weapons and are hellbent on killing them AND the militants/terrorists don’t play by the rules. I also know that the champions of human rights would not ask the militants/insurgents/terrorists to remain within the ambit of the country’s law and not commit heinous acts. Thay would also not explain to them that if they engage in a fire fight with personnel of any law enforcement agency, they will resort to action against them which might lead to them breaking the law. So, they (the militants/insurgents/terrorists) should not act in ways which might lead to such an outcome. Keeping all this in mind, please help me understand how personnel of law enforcing agencies CAN act according to the book when the opponent firing at them is using sophisticated weapons, is determined to kill them and are not willing to play by the rules. How can they control a situation with these dynamics and protect themselves without the use of overwhelming force? Please let me know if you can think of an appropriate alternative response.
Totally understand what you are saying. We Indians face the same moral hazard question when our forces fight Kashmiri Militants, Insurgents, Islamists, Jihadists, Terrorists or whatever they might be termed as. We got success with Iron Hand in a Velvet Glove Policy. Our government also spends a HUGE amount of money for the development and welfare of Kashmir, even though some people there have been giving us a lot of trouble. Please note that India has 543 Parliament Seats in the House of the People. Jammu and Kashmir has 5 seats. Still, we take it seriously. We don't neglect it just because this area has less population and sends just 5 Members of Parliament in a house of 543. We have been continuously spending money on development, welfare and job creation in Kashmir. Winning Hearts and Minds. Using Minimum Necessary Force. These two are critical in quelling an insurgency and winning over the people. Regarding Baluchistan. If you hit them, they hit back. Already, they are really pissed. Handle with Understanding and Care. This is not only the right thing to do, it's the smart thing to do. Rest is up to you. It's your country, your issue. Just remember that you already lost Bangladesh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
While I appreciate your perspective, I must disagree with how you’ve omitted some critical facts surrounding the situation. Before the military operation, Musharraf did indeed attempt to intimidate Nawab Akbar Bugti. When Bugti refused to back down, Musharraf escalated the situation by bombing his residence and having his son arrested on questionable charges of arms importation. These actions played a significant role in pushing Bugti to retreat to the mountains and take up arms. Understanding the full context is crucial in evaluating such a significant and tragic event.

The real issue is the power structure in Pakistan, where the Punjabi-dominated elite has historically oppressed the Baloch. It's crucial to separate the actions of the ruling elite from ordinary Punjabis. When it comes to Mohajir generals, like Musharraf, their actions are often seen as efforts to align with the establishment to maintain their positions of power. In the Pakistani power structure, it’s less about ethnicity and more about who is willing to be a 'yes man' to the elite. Those who conform and serve the interests of the establishment, regardless of their ethnic background, are the ones who rise to the top. So, the Baloch anger is really about the oppressive policies of the establishment, not about any particular ethnic group.

There is still a huge gap in the number of voters per NA seat in Punjab and Balochistan but you will never point out that. The subsequent baloch provincial governments( no matter how were they formed, they governments in punjab also do not form entirely as per people voting pattern c) did nothing in Balochistan despite having billions of billions rupees funds at their disposal and the authority to spend especially after 18th amendment, but you and your anti-punjab guests will never mention that. Every major country gets involved in the politics of their neighbors. I mean India has had involvement in Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and Maldivian politics so it's not to far-fetched to believe there would be some attempts in Pak also.
India and Pakistan have proxy war which is evident. Agartala conspiracy case agaionst Mujeeb u rehman is an example. Khalistan is an example. Bangladesh is an example. Afghanistan of 2000s is an example.

How will the problem of Balochistan be solved? Since the establishment of Pakistan, due to the strategic interests of the Soviet Union and the USA, the confrontation between the Soviet Union and the USA began in Balochistan. Rather, Pakistan was created by the British and the USA to prevent the Soviet Union from reaching the Indian Ocean and to counter socialism with Islamism. After the defeat of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan in 1988, the confrontation between the Soviet Union and the USA ended in Balochistan after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. However, because of China's attempt to reach the Indian Ocean, the confrontation between China and the USA started. Because of the strategic interests of China and the USA in Balochistan, the problem of Balochistan has intensified. Therefore, the problem of Balochistan can be solved only by the Punjabi nation, the powerful nation of Pakistan by bartering Khalistan with China or USA for Balochistan. Hence; 1. Balochistan will be free from the occupation of Punjabi imperialism. 2. By removing the 7.6 million Baloch from Punjab and transferring them to Balochistan, the Punjabi nation will get rid of the Baloch. 3. With the establishment of Khalistan, Sikh Punjabis will get access to their religious places in West Punjab. While West Punjab will start getting water from the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers coming from East Punjab to West Punjab. 4. With the establishment of Khalistan, Kashmir will also gain freedom from Indian occupation. 5. With the establishment of Khalistan and the independence of Kashmir from Indian occupation, the Punjab of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's era from Kashmir to Kashmore and from Sutlej to Peshawar will come into existence again. 6. After the establishment of the Khalistan country of the Sikh Punjabis, the movement to create the Harianistan country of the Hindu Punjabis will begin. 7. After the establishment of Khalistan and the independence of Kashmir from Indian occupation, the creation of Harianistan will restore the pre-1901 geographical boundaries of Punjab from Kashmir to Kashmore and from Delhi to Peshawar.

In pursuing a kinetic solution to the long enduring militancy in Balochistan ,the state has completely lost sight of how large swathes of Baloch population , specially the youth , have gone over to to the militants’ cause , leading to a tectonic social transformation that spells danger for the long-term integrity of the country . If the bulk of the population gets alienated and radicalised then you have a grave existential problem on your hands , because , then there would be no dearth of fresh recruits willing to take up arms against the state , also this would lead to an enlargement of the social support network for the militants , who would then operate much more freely and with highly lethal effect .There is an urgent need , therefore, to win the hearts and minds of the Balochi youth if ominous threats to the integrity of the country are to be avoided .

The greatest grievance a Baloch has is that not even common, educated upper class from Islamabad or from Punjab tries to know what reality Baloch has faced before getting armed. State constructed propaganda has created an image of a Baloch as a terrorist and barbaric and on the other side a Baloch thinks even after knowing what we go through an educated Pakistani thinks that we all are to blame then it becomes a mutual hate against people who have never met.

There should be a division of Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh and KPK. We need more provinces/ states in Pakistan to devolve the power. In this federal system of Pakistan, only Punjab is being appeased and in Pakistan too, only the cities with the largest population. Pakistan's administrative structure should be changed and local governments at district level should have all the powers.
One thing you are missing. With this incident,the whole issue of Bloch has got highlighted.now BLA will be funded and armed by any country or organisation.

Dear Shehzad. I had written the following comment on your podcast on the massacre of Punjabis in Balochistan earlier this week:
Dear Shehzad, I can see how upset you were when you made this video. Toxic comments can really sadden and demoralize you. I was saddened when you hinted that you might not continue podcasting on important issues faced by us but heaved a sigh of relief when I saw your video about rape culture. Please don’t be disheartened and keep speaking up about critical issues faced by the nation.
I would like to comment on a few things you have said:
1. You have mentioned the unfortunate murder of Nawab Akbar Bugti. You are absolutely right in saying that the current wave of terrorism was triggered by his murder. I notice that you have presented his killing as murder by Musharraf without giving context to his killing. His murder is coming across as if it was the result of personal enmity between the two. I am not defending Musharraf here, but when we talk about a momentous event like Nawab Bugti’s murder we should present all the facts so that people understand these events in the proper context. The chain of events started with the rape of a lady doctor serving in a hospital in Sui by an Army captain. It was a horrendous act, and the perpetrator needed to be punished for it. Nawab sahib demanded punishment for him, which was an honourable thing to do. When it was not forthcoming, he picked up arms and ‘went into the mountains’. His people attacked law enforcement personnel and fired rockets at gas pipelines. These things are not done in a state, even if the cause is just and honourable. An operation was launched to put down the mini-insurgency during which he was killed along with some of his fighters and some Army commandos. He was killed in action, not murdered for personal enmity.
2. It seems to have become a way of virtue signalling these days to not take into consideration the actions of victims that could have resulted in the unpleasant things that have happened to them. I am not justifying horrible acts but anybody who dares to enquire about the circumstances or causes of a deplorable deed is immediately shut up and accused of ‘victim blaming’. I respect the outrage, which I am sure is good natured, but humbly submit that everyone is responsible for their words and deeds. This applies most definitely to the perpetrator, who should be punished for his action, even if it was in retaliation for some egregious provocation; but also, the victim for their share in what transpired. This is not victim blaming, but not mentioning the victim’s part may result in presenting a wrong version of events to the world. Please note I am not talking about rape here, for which there can be no excuse.
3. You are disappointed that people do not pay attention to the genuine grievances of Pakhtoon Tahaffuz Movement (PTM). It seems as if you don’t take into consideration that many people are put off by the anti-state rhetoric and slogans they use while presenting their genuine grievances. In expressing disappointment at people not supporting PTM, you never mention that they use language and act in ways that other people might find offensive. The cause is important, but the way you demand something matters too. If your demands are just but your methods are unacceptable to the majority of people, then you would not find much support. If in your childhood you want something and you mother doesn’t provide it and the next time while asking her for it you smash the crockery she had received as dowry at her wedding, she would thrash you, even though she is your loving mother and your demands are just. The same thing applies to PTM also.
4. You have written that one cannot and should not accept sanity and observance of laws from terrorists and insurgents. Absolutely true! You can’t and shouldn’t. My question is: what next? We are not expecting anything from them, but then how should the state deal with them? The usual answer one gets is: present them in a court and have them punished according to the law of the land. Again, this is the right answer. However, the problem with this is that in our country people are scared to testify against the criminal and the influential for fear of repercussions. Sometimes, judges also act partisan for ideological and political reasons (we all know that the late Justice Waqar Saith has released quite a few known TTP terrorists). So, what should, and more importantly, could be done in the present circumstances with people who resort to terrorism?
5. One last thing: you say, and my late father Mr. M. B. Naqvi, who was an active member of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, used to say the same thing; that the state cannot stoop to the level of militants, insurgents and terrorists. Its behaviour should be different from that of militants, insurgents and terrorists. It should follow rules. Again, absolutely true. However, I see one problem with this. The means available to a state to restore its writ are law enforcement agencies. Their personnel would do the actual enforcing of the writ. They are trained and wear uniforms but are still human. No amount of training or uniforms would make their bodies bullet proof. They would die if shot in some sensitive part of the body or get wounded if they are hit in a slightly less sensitive part. They know when they are heading for a mission that their opponents are armed with sophisticated weapons and are hellbent on killing them AND the militants/terrorists don’t play by the rules. I also know that the champions of human rights would not ask the militants/insurgents/terrorists to remain within the ambit of the country’s law and not commit heinous acts. Thay would also not explain to them that if they engage in a fire fight with personnel of any law enforcement agency, they will resort to action against them which might lead to them breaking the law. So, they (the militants/insurgents/terrorists) should not act in ways which might lead to such an outcome. Keeping all this in mind, please help me understand how personnel of law enforcing agencies CAN act according to the book when the opponent firing at them is using sophisticated weapons, is determined to kill them and are not willing to play by the rules. How can they control a situation with these dynamics and protect themselves without the use of overwhelming force? Please let me know if you can think of an appropriate alternative response.
Totally understand what you are saying. We Indians face the same moral hazard question when our forces fight Kashmiri Militants, Insurgents, Islamists, Jihadists, Terrorists or whatever they might be termed as.

While I appreciate your perspective, I must disagree with how you’ve omitted some critical facts surrounding the situation. Before the military operation, Musharraf did indeed attempt to intimidate Nawab Akbar Bugti. When Bugti refused to back down, Musharraf escalated the situation by bombing his residence and having his son arrested on questionable charges of arms importation. These actions played a significant role in pushing Bugti to retreat to the mountains and take up arms. Understanding the full context is crucial in evaluating such a significant and tragic event.

There is still a huge gap in the number of voters per NA seat in Punjab and Balochistan but you will never point out that.

How will the problem of Balochistan be solved?
Since the establishment of Pakistan, due to the strategic interests of the Soviet Union and the USA, the confrontation between the Soviet Union and the USA began in Balochistan. Rather, Pakistan was created by the British and the USA to prevent the Soviet Union from reaching the Indian Ocean and to counter socialism with Islamism.
After the defeat of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan in 1988, the confrontation between the Soviet Union and the USA ended in Balochistan after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. However, because of China's attempt to reach the Indian Ocean, the confrontation between China and the USA started.
Because of the strategic interests of China and the USA in Balochistan, the problem of Balochistan has intensified. Therefore, the problem of Balochistan can be solved only by the Punjabi nation, the powerful nation of Pakistan by bartering Khalistan with China or USA for Balochistan. Hence;
1. Balochistan will be free from the occupation of Punjabi imperialism.
2. By removing the 7.6 million Baloch from Punjab and transferring them to Balochistan, the Punjabi nation will get rid of the Baloch.
3. With the establishment of Khalistan, Sikh Punjabis will get access to their religious places in West Punjab. While West Punjab will start getting water from the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers coming from East Punjab to West Punjab.
4. With the establishment of Khalistan, Kashmir will also gain freedom from Indian occupation.
5. With the establishment of Khalistan and the independence of Kashmir from Indian occupation, the Punjab of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's era from Kashmir to Kashmore and from Sutlej to Peshawar will come into existence again.
6. After the establishment of the Khalistan country of the Sikh Punjabis, the movement to create the Harianistan country of the Hindu Punjabis will begin.
7. After the establishment of Khalistan and the independence of Kashmir from Indian occupation, the creation of Harianistan will restore the pre-1901 geographical boundaries of Punjab from Kashmir to Kashmore and from Delhi to Peshawar.
