Uhtred season 3: he was a man that i could never be nor did i want to be He was a man that i loved and despised but it was never anything less than an honor to serve him HE WAS MY KING!

@Jacob Sirak and that is what makes both Uhtred and Alfred such compelling characters both are not perfect they are both very flawed men who make mistakes. Uhtred in season 1 was a pretty unlikable douchebag for the most part.
@Jacob Sirak honestly, I respect Alfred because of how well the actor portayed his complex character and the fact that he was very shrewd king but as far as hypocrisy goes- Alfred's arrogance was his downfall. He didn't raise his son well enough not to be a weak king who could be manipulated if it meant any sort of validation, probably because Alfred was living in a fantasy where he would rule forever. Plus, Alfred's disloyality towards Uthred definitely put a suspicion in the Dane camps about whether Saxon alliances could ever be trusted. So Alfred basically fails to unite England because of Alfred. But that's what he gets, I guess.

for Uhtred it was Saxon or Dane, but for Alfred it was his faith in god or his faith in himself and others.

It will not be written that Alfred did stand upon Uhtreds shoulders.....many times. But I know it to be true.

Because of these scenes, this series is EPIC! Not because of fleeting action sequences but true grit and deeds from the heart that stirs emotions in one's being. That is why this series is EPIC! Oh and Skål!!!

This scene after Alfreds death was the icing on the cake for Alfreds legacy. A chapter closed in Uhtred and Alfred’s story.
Their final scene made me so emotional. “he was my king” 😭😭
This scene in particular has some phenomenal writing.

That whole last scene with Uhtred and Alfred. Alfred hiding in the shadows and slowly coming out, so unbelievably good! The final connection between the two when Alfred says what is truly in his heart. Weeping crying so so good. Television at its finest.

Both are great. Last Kingdom is a Saxon angle whereas Vikings or their world angle
People like entertainment. They no longer seek our history.
Vikings blows this show out-of the water. TLK is good, but that's how good vikings is. Saxon angle and pagan angle. It's all in your taste. Not arguing just showing you the vast difference in opinion.
Watching last season now ! Can we all agree this is one of the best shows ever put together so much emotion and betrayal and absolute amazing story

Alfred and Uhtred’s relationship was the best part of this show! They had such a beautiful bond.
I can't tell you how many times I've turned on S3/Episode10 and fast forwarded to the part where he holds up his paper and says, "I have a letter of Pardon." That scene gets everything right.

Even though Alfred said he shall not be written, nor their issues they had along the way they were indeed bonded together. He gave him the highest honor a warrior could ever receive with reputation in the last scene given to us. Besides his freedom, he gave him more than he has given anyone else. The Respect and Honor is shown here. Honestly this is my favorite series of all time now. Im late to the party, but glad i came across this show.
