FRANK is a low-gain boost/overdrive pedal with just the right amount of gain to push your amp into a harmonically-rich overdrive (without over-coloring your tone or getting too saturated). With the “Gain” knob at noon, FRANK can be used as a gorgeous and sparkly clean boost. Turn the gain past noon and FRANK will start to push your amp into a very natural and pleasant sounding breakup. That being said, FRANK is not technically a “Transparent overdrive” as you will notice greater clarity in your high-end and a more present pick-attack with the effect engaged.

You got to keep working on your craft man. These kind of reviews would be so much more helpful if there were some single note lines or you played some riffs, or something. Even just playing loosely through a pentatonic scale of some kind… It’s hard to tell exactly what a pedal is going to be like when you are playing open chords all the time

Agreed. Except the funny thing is, I find it more helpful when people play chords and not overused pentatonic single-notes lead lines. I hear the pedal/amp/guitar/whatever more when the demo-dude/dudette plays slower riffs and chunky chords, as well as lead lines. I don't listen to blues or AC/DC stuff, and I definitely don't listen to P&W, so for me neither the chords Curtis plays nor the same blues riffs everyone else plays are that helpful. Which is the point. Curtis plays what Curtis plays. He's just doing his thang.

Daniel West yep. I think both are important. Guitar is more than open chords and overdone blues licks. Can’t keep playing the same things year after year.

Hey Curtis, love your demos! How would you say the gain on this pedal lines up against the gain of the Emerson Custom Paramount? More? Less? Same? I really enjoy the tone on this thing!
