Czapek.. do it!🤩 Revisiting the enthusiast v collector chat, I’ve considered selling off some of the collection to create a fighting fund for new directions.
Hey Pete, love the content. Personally I like the new Baume et Mercier Riviera ("affordable") and the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon Honeygold (unaffordable ;-) ). Greetz from Belgium.
I rather like that Alpina three-hander with the orange strap and the Zenith diver. Hadn’t seen the orange Hublot but that is fun squared, but it’s not 30k U.S. cool. And that’s kind of the point. It’s a watch show centered around the flaunting of wealth. Appreciating Uber expensive watches from afar is certainly a cost effective way to enjoy the hobby and I say that with zero passive aggressive subtext. I legitimately get it. It’s just not how I do that hobby. I’m not wired to care, deeply anyway, about objects I’ll never own.
Can't disagree on any of them; even the Rolex as much as I hate to say it. The Czapek is even more spectacular in the flesh than on film. If only I could afford it.
I quite like the Alpina also but dont think id buy it. For me the best watches of the fair were the Cartier Santos du Mont Rewind and the Zenith Diver Revival. The regular divers are a bit big for me.
Czapek makes some gorgeous watches and movement architecture is amazing
That Zenith diver looks rather good.
Love your work, happy you are back on a regular basis.
I’m over content creators reading a list of watch specs and selling their watch straps.
Pete your right, some we like and some we don't. I almost fell out of my chair when you said that you liked a Rolex!
Have a great week.

My W&W 2024 pick is the IWC Portuguieser 40 mm grey gold case, bleu horizon dial. Price is way above my league, but that’s my favorite one.
My faves: Tag Skipper Rose gold, VC green dial rose gold, IWC Eternal calendar, Patek Ellipse and the 1908 baby blue

100% on the Czapek: gorgeous art deco dial with a haute horology movement at arguably a segment relative value price.

The 1908 turned everyone's head. Sadly at 39 its too small for me.The Czapek is a horror in all iterations. A hard pass for me.
Is this the first time you’ve said you like a Rolex, Pete? Never thought I’d see the day!
I wonder who actually made it? I bet it wasn't Rolex.
I think I've said I like (but dont love) the OPs - very handsome watches, just not sure if they have enough "bang" to ever escape the watch box.
